CHAPTER 48
IVY POV
“Come on Freya. We need to get the hell out of here.” I grabbed her hand and we walked to the door and I turned the handle and peeked out into the hall. There was no one to be seen, so we walked into the hallway and I knew that we were still on the second floor.
I could smell smoke. And a lot of it. So I went to the side window and I could see fires in the woods that I know Asher set as a distraction to get through the border and I smiled at that. But then I looked down and I saw Asher leading his pack of thousands onto the field around the house and they were met with just as many warriors and they all collided with a massive thud and a lot of snarling and fighting.
Freya gripped my hand tighter at the noise. She was scared so I turned away from the window and we started walking down the hallway again, being really careful about being quiet.
When we came to the staircase I poked my head around first and I didn’t see anyone there so we slowly walked down the stairs and I was peering over the side of the stairs the whole time to see if I could see anyone coming.
When we got to the bottom of the stairs someone grabbed me from behind and spun me around and I headbutted him and kneed him in the stomach. I grabbed his hair and kneed him
in the face and while he was crouched over I stabbed the silver knife into his back several
times so that he wouldn’t be able to get up.
I then grabbed Freya’s hand and we kept walking through the living room and I heard footsteps behind us and I stopped and turned around slowly.
Adam was standing there with a really large knife in his hand.
“I can’t let you leave.” He says.
“Adam. This isn’t your pack. He killed your pack and took you away.” I say.
“I have nowhere else to go.” He says.
“Yes, you do. You have my pack. We will take you in.” I say.
“Not after everything I’ve done.” He says.
“Is your wife’s name Millie?” I asked. And he lowered his knife slightly.
“How do you know that?” He asked.
“Because your oldest son looks just like you.” I say.

“What?” He asked, confused.
“They didn’t die in the attack. They found refuge at my pack. Millie and your three kids. That’s where they are. They’re safe. They’re alive.” I say.
“You’re lying.” He says.
“If I’m lying then how the hell did I know her name?” I asked. And he didn’t have an answer for that. So he dropped the knife and he looked me in the eye.
“Promise me that they are safe and alive.” He says.
“I promise. I know them. I’ve talked to them. I knew who you were the first day you came to my room. She was always talking about her mate Adam. I knew that it was you.” I say.
“Will you take me to them after this?” He asked.
“Of course I will.” I say. And he nodded his head.
“That side door is always locked. You need to go through the front.” He tells me. So I headed towards the front door but I was stopped. Levi jumped out in front of us.
“Freya. Come here.” Levi said to his sister.
“Levi. She won’t hurt us. She just wants to go home.” Freya says.
“You can’t believe everything she says. She’ll say anything to destroy dad.” Levi says.
“Levi. She saved me. She took the cancer away. I’m going to be okay.” Freya says. And he looked at me weird.
“You saved her?” He asked.
“Levi. I just want to go home.” I say.
“She’s our sister.” Freya says.
“No she isn’t. That’s just what her mother lied about.” Levi yelled.
“Levi. She’s got the same features as us two. Her mouth and her nose. They’re the same as ours. Can’t you see that?” Freya asked.
“That doesn’t mean shit.” Levi growled. I slowly pushed Freya to the side because I knew that Levi wasn’t going to let this go. He wasn’t going to believe me. And I didn’t want her getting
hurt.
I pushed her far enough away and she ran over to one of the chairs and hid behind it.
Levi attacked me first and I managed to dodge it. I knew that he was furious. I could feel it
coming off of him in waves. And I turned just in time for his next attack and he tackled me to

the ground. He started punching me in the face, over and over again.
He was on top of me straddling me while he was punching me and I was having trouble getting the right position to attack back. But I reached down into my boot and I grabbed the knife that I had and I pressed it to the side of his face making him scream as the silver seared his skin.
I could smell his skin burning and see the smoke coming off of it. A brand that would never
come off. But that was a warning. I didn’t want to kill him either. I just wanted him to stop. But
that just seemed to piss him off even more.
He tried to get the knife from me and we struggled for it. I managed to roll over and I was on top of him with the advantage and we were both struggling for the knife but then Freya screamed which distracted us both and he rolled us again and the knife plunged in. I didn’t
mean for it to happen. I didn’t want it to happen.
I pushed Levi off of me and the knife was sticking directly out of his eye and he wasn’t
moving. I got up and I pulled the knife from his eye and Freya walked over but I turned her
away. That was definitely not something I wanted her to see.
We then walked out the front of the packhouse and the fight was ensuing everywhere.
Thousands of wolves fighting. The dead were littered everywhere. But right in front of me was
a massive Sandy brown wold that I knew was Asher and Jackson. Asher had blood pouring
out of him and Jackson attacked again and managed to grab Asher by the throat and get him
to the ground. I knew that with one more lock of his jaw and Asher would be dead. My Asher.
