CHAPTER 43
“Everyone. Get back. Towards the back of the room.” I yelled. And I helped move the children to the back of the room and I stayed at the front while I could see the door moving with every thud that was being made. Like something was throwing its entire body towards the shelter. The door was actually starting to move. It was moving under the heavy weight of whatever
was on the outside.
I stood at the front of everyone trying so hard not to panic but everyone else was panicking. I knew that I had to stay strong for them.
“Ivy. Get back.” Spencer yelled as I took a step forward:
“What the hell is that thing?” Another woman yelled.
“A beast.” I answered. But none of us knew what beast it could possibly be. It was large. I knew that much. It was vicious. I heard growling on the other side. The thudding stopped for a brief moment while I knew that warriors were trying to contain the beast.
One woman started crying hysterically in the shelter and she fell to the ground. I ran over to her and her child was sitting next to her.
“What is it?” I asked.
“My mate. He mind linked me. He said goodbye. He said that he wasn’t going to make it and
that he loved us.” She managed to say through her cries. She knew that her mate was dead.
She could feel their bond break and I sat on the floor holding her. And one by one others fell as
well. We were loosing warriors. Warriors with families. And I knew that it was because they
wanted the white wolf.
I looked around at all the women in pain. Because of me. Because of what I am. And I stood
up to my feet and I took a couple steps backwards towards the door while I was looking at the
women.
“Ivy. Don’t.” Spencer says.
“I have to. Too many people are dying.” I say.
“Ivy. Don’t you dare. Asher will kill me for letting you go and whatever that thing is out there
will kill you.” She says.
“No. I don’t think it will.” I say.
“You don’t know that. You aren’t going out there.” She yelled, grabbing my arm. She tried to pull
me back into the shelter.

CHAPTER 43
“Look around. Look at everyone. They are all dying. Because they want me.” I yelled.
“I don’t care.” She yells. And I looked behind her.
“They do.” I say pointing to the mates that are on the ground crying over their loved ones that they just lost.
Spencer slowly turns around to look at them and that’s when I make my break for it. I run to the door and I open the door using the keypad and push the door open.
Spencer runs after me to try and stop me but I shake my head at her and I slam it shut before she could get to me. She couldn’t open it again because she didn’t know the passcode.
I turned around and it seemed quiet. There was no one there. It was dark throughout the house and I walked slowly through the kitchen and the dining room, into the living room. It was pitch black. There weren’t even any werewolves. Whoever was fighting in the house earlier seemed to have left and taken the fight somewhere else. At least that’s what I thought, until I heard a horrible growl come from behind me.
I froze where I was standing. It wasn’t a werewolf. I knew that. It didn’t sound or smell like a werewolf. It smelt horrible. Like rotting flesh or something. And I slowly turned around to see this beast staring back at me. It was on all fours, no fur with burning red eyes. It opened its mouth and I saw his teeth baring at me, but a second set of teeth behind it. It was something that no one could have ever imagined.
“What the hell are you?” I whispered.
‘Ivy. What the f**k are you doing?” Asher screamed through the link. I knew that Spencer mind linked him and told him what I had done.
‘Too many people were dying because of me. They want me. They want the white wolf.‘ I say.
“Get back to the shelter. We can take care of them.‘ Asher yelled. I could tell that he was running. He was running to me. I knew that he was getting closer.
‘No. Those women are losing their mates. I can’t do that to them. I can’t bear to see them in pain like that. They want me. I say.
‘What about me? I need you. Asher yelled. But I didn’t answer him. I heard footsteps behind me and I turned around to see Jeremiah walking towards me.
“You. You’re meant to be dead.” Jeremiah says.
“Surprise.” I say. And I take a deep breath.
“You’re the white wolf. I should have known.” Jeremiah says.

CHAPTER 43
“Yeah. But you never were too bright. You probably only got the job by sucking Jackson’s cock.” I taunted him. No one knew that he was gay. Definitely not Jackson. But I sure as hell
knew.
Jackson then lunged at me and knocked me unconscious. I had learnt to fight recently, but it was nowhere near where it needed to be right now. I knew I didn’t stand a chance against Jeremiah.
ASHER POV
I got to the packhouse as fast as I could, shifting to my human self as soon as I reached the front door. It had been kicked in and the whole place was trashed. Nothing was in the right place.
I could smell Ivy really distinctly. I followed it into the living room and I could tell that she was just here. And then the smell of blood. I walked to the middle of the room and saw fresh blood on the floor and I ran through the whole house to see if she was hiding somewhere. But she was nowhere to be found. She wasn’t answering me. And she wasn’t answering the mind link.
“They’re retreating.” Cole says through the link.
‘What do you mean? They were winning.‘ Beau says.
‘And now they’re all retreating. I don’t know why.‘ Cole says.
‘I do. They got what they came for.‘ I tell them through the link.
I told Spencer the combination to the shelter so everyone could come out and she was the
first one to run out and started darting around the room looking around.
“Where is she?” Spencer says with a murderous look on her face.
“She’s gone.” I say. And Spencer stared at me before I saw the tears welling in her eyes.
“I told her not to. I begged her not to. But she waited for that one second that I wasn’t looking and she ran out. She locked me in there so I couldn’t stop her.” Spencer says as the tears spill
down her face.
“I know. It’s not your fault Spence. If she made up her mind then she was going to do it. No
matter what.” I say.
My warriors were outside doing the clean up for the rest of the night while the women that
lost their mates were being comforted and taken care of by other women. And their children
were being taken care of by the other women, but I also had scouts out looking for any tracks
that might be leading away from the packhouse.
I had to stay back to deal with the fallout of the attack. But all I wanted to do was get out

there and find Ivy. To know where she was. That was the one thing playing on my mind while I just went through the motions of all my other tasks.
People weren’t asking me questions or coming to me with any issues. They were going to Cole and Beau because they knew that I wasn’t the best to talk to right now. I was in a bad mood and my Alpha aura was pouring out of me without me even realizing it. So they were keeping their distance otherwise they would probably be in pain just coming near me. I know
that Jackson was going to be in pain if he came near me.
‘Asher. You need to drop the Alpha Aura. They found something to the North of the territory.”
Beau says. So I dropped what I was doing and I ran to that area and I found some warriors
standing around.
I barged my way through it and there was a body there. Not just anybody. It was one of
Jackson’s men.
“He died in the battle. Big deal?” I asked.
“No. The battle didn’t reach this far. You can see them doing the clean up in the distance. This
area right here was untouched. Obviously, because they needed it clear to get someone out
through.” Cole says.
“Ivy killed this guy.” Beau says.
“You don’t know that.” I say. And he lifts up the guy’s shirt to show the claw marks reached
from his neck to the bottom of his stomach. And he managed to pull out some really long
white hair from it.
“Who else had hair this long?” Beau asked.
“At least she’s fighting back.” Cole says.
“She wouldn’t need to be fighting back if she didn’t go to them in the first place.” I snapped and my aura rushed out accidentally and the warriors fell to their knees in pain.
I walked away when I realized what I did and Cole told them to keep following this track. We
might get lucky and find something else.
I headed back to the packhouse and started looking around myself for any clues that I might be able to find. But all I could smell was rotting flesh. So I knew that the beast had been in here. But that didn’t make any sense to me. I was fighting the beast outside. How could he be in here kidnapping my mate if he was outside fighting me.
“Oh my god. There was more than one beast.” I said to myself. What the hell was Jackson up to. What did he need those creatures for? I knew that Ivy was in a lot of trouble right now. I just

didn’t know how I was going to get her back. I needed her back. It’s all that consumed my mind right now. I had to get her back. But I was also furious at her for giving herself up like that.
