CHAPTER 42
I walked to the dungeon stairs and Asher followed but he stayed at the bottom of the stairs while I walked further into the dungeon. I passed Malia in her cell, another man in the cell beside her, another man beside him and then Carter was at the back.
“They all belong to you?” I asked.
“Yeah.” Carter says.
“I need to talk to your people before we decide to do anything. Where are they?” I asked.
“I’ll take you there.” He says.
“Do they know about me? And how we’re related to the same goal?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He says.
“Then I’ll be fine going on my own. That’s the way it has to be. Otherwise Asher won’t let me
go and you will all rot in these cell’s. He’ll never let you out.” I admit to him.
“Where is he? I can smell him.” Carter says.
“He’s waiting by the stairs. Did you really think he was going to leave me alone with you after
what you pulled today?” I asked.
“I guess not. Alright, they’re just outside your territory. A valley called ‘River Run‘.” He says.
“I know the place.” I say.
“That’s where they are. All of them. Because it is well protected and no one gets in unnoticed.”
He says.
“Alright. I’ll let you know how it goes.” I say turning on my heels and heading back to the
stairs. And Asher and I walked out of the dungeon.
“That’s a dangerous valley.” Asher says.
“I know. There’s too many advantage points for them to kill us before we get too far in. But
they know who I am. They won’t kill me.” I say.
“You’re not going alone.” Asher insisted.
“I know that. Just let me enter the valley first so that they can see who I am. Then I will tell them that I am not alone and they won’t attack.” I explained.
“I don’t like it.” He says.

CHAPTER 42
“No one said that you had to like it. You just have to do it.” I say.
“When?” He asked.
“Are the alliances coming tomorrow?” I asked.
“They are.” He says.
“We’ll go after that meeting.” I say.
“Alright. I need to go and upload some more information on the werewolf council site. You
need to get some rest.” He says.
“I need a shower first. I’ll see you upstairs.” I say. And I kiss him and I head upstairs to our
room.
I had a shower and when I got out I put my pajamas on and then I went into the bedroom and
there was a tray of food on the bed.
‘You haven’t eaten. Asher asked me to bring this up to you. Make sure you get plenty to eat
and plenty of rest. Beau.‘
‘Did you ask Beau to bring me dinner?‘ I mind linked Asher.
‘Yeah. You haven’t eaten.’ He replied.
‘That’s alright. Just be cautious.‘ I say.
‘Good girl.‘ He says and I swear I could practically hear the smirk in his voice.
So I sat on the bed and I turned the TV on and went to a movie app and started watching a
movie while I was eating dinner.
When I finished eating I moved the tray to the table and I lied down watching TV and I dozed off pretty quickly. It had been a long day and I was exhausted. But it didn’t last. The sirens started going off at midnight and I heard warriors screaming through the mindlink.
‘Rogues. East border.‘ One screamed.
‘No. Rogues. West border. Another one screamed.
‘More here in the south.‘ A third one screamed.
‘And in the North.’ One screamed.
They were attacking for all directions and I got up and ran downstairs and Asher was just running out the front door.
“You stay here.” He yelled at me.

CHAPTER 42
“I can help.” I yelled.
“If they work for Jackson then we lose our advantage if they see you. He thinks that you’re dead. Remember. We’ve got the numbers, we can fight them off. Just get the women and children into the shelter.” He says.
I let out a sigh knowing that he was right and pissed off that he was right. I needed to be out there where the action was. I needed to be there but then I saw the women and children come
running for the packhouse.
Spencer and I ran outside the door and helped everyone inside and anyone that needed help, like the elderly, we helped inside the packhouse.
We then went to a different door away from the dungeon and I opened it up and everyone started piling down the stairs and when I was sure that everyone was inside and we hadn’t forgotten anyone I closed the door behind me and I locked it with a keypad that only I and the
Alpha knew the combination to.
I walked through the very large shelter lighting the lamps and making sure that everyone was
okay. There was a storage room at the back that I only knew the combination to because it
contained supplies. I didn’t want people going in there and helping themselves. They were for
emergencies and right now didn’t call for any of that food or water or blankets. We hadn’t been
here long enough.
If we were here for a couple of hours then it would be a different story. I would open up the
storage roo. But right now, we just had to sit and wait. But I couldn’t do that. I was pacing up
and down the room while everyone was sitting around the room.
I turned the vents on because there were over 800 people in the shelter. And we didn’t want
them running out of air and dying of suffocation.
Spencer finally grabbed my hand and told me to sit down. I was making everyone else nervous because of my pacing.
“I’m sorry. I just want to be out there fighting too. That’s all. I hate that I have to hide.” I say.
“Right now. You are our greatest asset. He thinks that you’re dead.” She says.
“And what will it matter when he finds out that I’m alive? I’m no real threat to him.” I say.
“You’re a bigger threat then you realize. That’s why Carter came to find you. Because he knows
that you can help stop this.” Spencer says.
“Well, I wish someone would tell me what the hell my special powers are so that I can finally
be done with all this s**t and kill the bastard.” I say getting frustrated.

“Maybe there’s something at Carter’s pack that will help you remember.” She suggested.
“I really doubt that. I don’t think they would know anymore than Carter. I’m just going there to see the numbers and to see how dedicated they are.” I say.
“Well, that’s good too.” She says.
The fighting seemed to go on forever. I finally opened the storage room to give people food and water while we were waiting. I was getting really anxious because I hadn’t heard from
Asher. I knew that he needed to concentrate on what he was doing and not get killed so I didn’t mind link him. It was probably blocked anyway. But the longer I waited the more worried I got. It meant that they were in real trouble.
“They’re probably after the white wolf.” A woman says. And I look back at Spencer.
“Great. So it’s still my fault that they’re out there fighting for their lives.” I say.
“Ivy. Would you stop? You are driving me crazy.” Spencer says.
“I am driving myself crazy.” I snap back. And a lot of the women were watching us. So I sat
down and tried to pretend like I was alright. I had to keep reminding myself that I was their
luna. I was the one that was meant to make them feel better. Make them feel alright. I was the
one that was meant to be in charge. Not breaking down at this attack. I’m sure they’ve seen
attacks like this before.
I got up again and I went into the storage room and I started getting out snack bars and
handing them out to everyone. And it was getting late. So I got some blankets, mostly for the
kids because they were falling asleep. And one little girl didn’t let go of my hand when I
handed her the blanket so I sat beside her. She was one of the orphans that we had taken in
and she was being cared for by several of the women around here.
I sat down beside her and she lay down on one of the crates on the floor and I started playing
with her hair and I started quietly singing to her. But that soon got the attention of everyone in there. They were all listening to me while I was singing to her and putting her to sleep.
‘Don’t panic. Don’t alert the women and children. Some have slipped through and are headed towards town. Are you still in the shelter?‘ Asher asked through the mind link.
‘Yeah. We’re in the shelter.‘ I say.
‘Stay there. We’re going after them! Asher says and cuts off the link.
Spencer knew immediately that something was wrong. But she didn’t draw attention to it either. I was concentrating on the people in front of me and staying calm and helping the children remain calm. And to stop dwelling on everything that’s going wrong with me. Some of

these people have worse problems than me.
It wasn’t long before we heard noises inside the packhouse. Loud growling and things breaking. And something smashed against the door of the shelter which made the girls scream. The door was 20 inch thick metal. There was no way they were getting through the
door.
‘Oh my god.‘ I heard Asher in my head in the mind link.
‘What is it? What’s going on?‘ I asked.
‘It’s trying to break through to the shelter. Asher yelled.
‘What is?‘ I yelled.
‘A beast. Asher mumbled before I heard another great thud at the door.
