CHAPTER 124: DARE TO LOVE ME His Smile
William
And there we were, standing in line to enter an event that had never really caught my interest. I was more into clubs and concerts, where I got good seats in advance. But apparently, Asher didn’t mind this at all. This guy was baffling; I couldn’t figure him out. His actions sometimes threw me off balance. He was the strangest person I’d ever met. Sometimes he piqued my curiosity, but I let it go–I couldn’t get caught up in it. I guessed I’d meet all kinds of people on
my journey, as I had in the past. I had decided to move forward after what happened with him
earlier. He was right; our families had united because of Alaia and Nick’s children. I
remembered seeing the kids months ago during our trip to San Francisco.
It had been very confusing for me to see Noah and notice the resemblance to my cousin. Then
I saw Alana, and at that moment, I couldn’t tell whom she resembled. But everything became
clear when I found out she was Alaia’s daughter, the wife of my cousin, and the only woman
he’d ever loved. Two years ago, he had come up with the craziest plan just to avoid losing her,
but in the end, he sadly did. Now, I just hoped that for his sake, everything would get resolved,
and he would manage to win back the woman he loved so they could be a family with little
Alana and Noah. A smile formed on my lips as I remembered them. I hadn’t been so close to a
pair of kids before. It wasn’t that I disliked children, but there had been no kids in my circle
until now. I could only say they were the most adorable little beings I’d ever seen, and it was
gratifying that they called me uncle when they met me.
“We got here early; we can find good spots,” Asher said, looking at me. From my height, I searched for a path that would get us closer to the stage. I felt a bit strange with all these kids
around, but it looked like it would be fun.
I received a message from Jessie. I replied, telling her about where I was, and she just responded with, “Have fun.” She was a good girl; she always had been. I didn’t usually have female friends. It had never been possible for me. Whenever I got close to a girl to be friends, I ended up sleeping with them soon after, and everything went to hell. I thought that was why I got along well with Jessie; she was the only one I could be myself with, without anything else
happening.
We walked, and it was entertaining to see Asher’s excitement. He acted like a kid who just got a new toy. It was interesting to see him get excited about something; he had always been so rigid before.
We found a spot not too far from the stage. A DJ was playing, which told me that the artists hadn’t started performing yet. I checked the time and felt like eating something, but I needed

to find the little hobbit first, who had just disappeared from my sight. If I moved from here, I thought it would be complicated to find him in this sea of people.
“Here you are,” I heard him say, and I looked towards him. “I brought you some food.” His
skinny arms were holding two boxes of fast food and some sodas. I raised my eyebrows; it was clear that eating was very important to him.
“Wow, thanks,” I said, taking one of the boxes. He smiled, and for some reason, my eyes lingered on his smile.
“My guest won’t go hungry today,” he said confidently, making me laugh.
I ate and watched everything. I laughed again seeing Asher eating and dancing at the same
time. I shook my head and took a bite of my hot dog.
I responded to some messages on my phone, as making a call would have been impossible
with all this noise. Suddenly, a general shout made me lift my head quickly.
“Wisin y Yandel!” Asher shouted, approaching me and grabbing my arms. Then he went back
and joined a group of men and women who looked about our age and a bit older. I liked seeing
that it wasn’t just them; there were many more people in the crowd.
The hobbit quickly socialized with those people, and they started singing the songs of the
artists who were enjoying their time on stage. I thought I’d heard them in some of the clubs I’d
been to.
Asher and the group danced and sang next to me. Although this was new to me, I couldn’t
help but move to the rhythm of the music and have a good time. After several artists, I saw
Asher going for some cocktails and bringing one over to me.
“You’re having a good time, aren’t you?” he said cheerfully.
“I admit, it was a great idea to come,” I said, nodding. He smiled again in a way that made me
frown.
Another loud shout made me look up. I saw a man coming onto the stage after a grand
entrance. The crowd went wild and started singing along to the song that kicked off the show.
I noticed Asher and the group started moving to the same rhythm, following some steps. He grabbed my arm, and I moved closer to them to try to dance, assuming it was the
choreography of the song.
“Loosen up, bro,” he said, moving his hips, and I burst out laughing. Who would have thought
this would be so much fun?
I moved the same way he did. I had to say, I was pretty good at it.

“You move very well,” he shouted over the music. I laughed, and he looked at my face for a few seconds, then lowered his gaze. I frowned, watching him quickly rejoin the others.
At one point, I noticed a girl with black hair and enchanting curves smiling at me. I smiled back but continued enjoying myself with the group.
After a couple more cocktails and as the event seemed to be wrapping up, the dark–haired girl
from before approached me.
“Hi,” she greeted me with a coquettish smile. I knew what she was here for.
“Hi,” I said, observing her more closely.
“We were wondering if you’d like to join us,” she said, pointing to a group of girls behind her.

I’d had an amazing time. Seeing all those artists was incredible. Definitely, the best plans were
the ones you didn’t plan. William had enjoyed the night, and I thought he wouldn’t, but the man
was ready for fun. I smiled to myself.
I applauded Don Omar’s last song and knew it was time to leave. It was early morning. I’d sent messages to Tino, who kept calling me. He told me he hated me for not telling him where I’d
- be. I’d see how I could make it up to him.
I laughed to myself, put my phone in my pocket, and looked up, my smile fading.
There was Will, surrounded by girls. Didn’t this man ever rest?
I said goodbye to the group of guys I’d had a great time with and walked towards William. I imagined he’d want to leave with those girls.
“I’m going to head out. It’s fine if you go with them,” I said, approaching after hearing the
suggestive proposal from the voluptuous brunette.
“You can come too,” said another girl. Oh no, not again.
“No, it’s fine. I’m tired. I’ll see you later,” I said, looking at William, who hadn’t said a word and
walked away, looking for my phone to call a car, which, thank heavens, I managed to get
quickly.
A part of me was disappointed that he had decided to stay with those girls.
I exhaled and looked at my phone screen, checking the time the car should arrive.
“Cancel it,” I heard behind me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, watching him come to my side. “Those girls…” I pointed to

where we were.
“Those girls, there are many like them. I’m not going to leave a friend alone. You could get mugged. Look at you; you couldn’t defend yourself.”
“What are you saying? I can defend myself,” I said, annoyed, and saw him laugh. Today, he had shown those perfect teeth a lot.
“I don’t doubt it,” he said, lifting my thin arm and letting it drop. “Let’s go; my car is over there.”
He walked ahead of me. Annoyed, I canceled the service and, without realizing it, smiled as I
walked toward where he was opening his car.
I opened the door and got into the passenger seat.
Will didn’t start the car. He tapped the steering wheel with his fingers and looked thoughtful.
“Everything okay?” I asked.
“Why do you seem so connected to a side of you I didn’t know?” he asked, turning to look at
- me.
Damn!
