CHAPTER 107: Covenant of Love Part 2
Alaia
“I’m taking you to dinner,” Nick spoke, circling my n****e with his finger.
“Let’s order something,” I suggested, not wanting to go out.
“Honey, we have a reservation. Go put on the dress you like the most,” he proposed and kissed me. “I promise you’ll rest when we get back.” His thumb touched my lower lip.
“Fine,” I said without much enthusiasm.
He smiled and went to take a bath. I watched him dress in a suit without a tie.
“Come on, honey.” He kissed me and motioned toward the bathroom with his head, leaving
with his phone in hand.
“What could he be doing?” I wondered and headed to the bathroom. I sighed; it was like we’d
gone back in time.
I wore a two–piece set: a bone–white skirt, fitted to the knees, and a striped blouse with silver sparkles on the cups and waist, simple earrings, and my hair half–up with waves falling down. my back, silver stilettos. I took one last look in the mirror before leaving.
I noticed Nick had his eyes on his phone and looked at me when he heard my footsteps. He
smiled and walked towards me to kiss me.
“You look stunning.” He pulled his face away from mine, and his eyes told me how much he loved me. “Come on, you must be hungry,” he said, taking me with him.
The car ride wasn’t very long. We arrived at the luxurious restaurant and were shown to our table, which overlooked the city, with candles and a beautiful flower arrangement.
Nick pulled out the chair for me and sat down afterward. “It’s beautiful,” I said, taking it all in.
We were in a private area.
“I always wanted to bring you here,” he said, intertwining our fingers on the table, “but I couldn’t, and when I could, you were gone,” he commented with a hint of nostalgia.
“We had each other,” I said, pressing his fingers with mine, “that was all we needed, and it’s all
we need now.” I caressed his face and kissed him.
“We have so many things pending, trips, dreams, children,” he said with a mischievous smile
on his lips.
“Oh my God,” I said, and we both laughed. The idea of Nick experiencing a new baby from day

one excited me.
“Our future sounds incredible,” I said excitedly.
“It will be incredible.” Nick kissed my hand, and his words sounded like a promise. They brought us dinner without us having ordered, and I realized it was my favorite dish.
“I’m going to the UK with Ash,” I said after dinner. My husband furrowed his brows and looked
at me. “He has an important matter to attend to, and I want to be by his side,” I explained, and
Nick remained silent, which made me nervous.
“When?” he asked, stopping what he was doing.
“In a week or two.”
“I understand. Tell me if there’s anything I can do for him; I’m willing to help,” he stated, not asking any questions. Oh, how I loved him!
“But I’ll meet you there. I can’t be away from you and the kids for long.” He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.
I smiled. “Neither can we.” I kissed him.
Dinner ended, and we decided to go for a walk, hand in hand, like we used to when we were in college. He put his coat on me. We talked and kissed, but I didn’t realize the path we were taking until we reached the university campus, the stadium to be precise.
“I wanted to visit the stadium,” he said, looking towards the tunnel with the lights on.
“We can’t go in,” I said, taking a step towards the entrance.
“Yes, I just have to talk to the person in charge. Go ahead, love; they must be practicing. I’ll catch up with you in a second.” He walked to the side with his phone in hand.
I did as he said and walked down the corridor, reminiscing about the times I came to this stadium to cheer him on in his games. I used to wear his team jacket; I couldn’t miss a single one. He said I was his good luck charm. I remembered that in one of those finals, Nick asked
me…
I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the path of roses on the grass and the lights illuminating Nick, who was trying to breathe normally in the middle of the field, where there was a bed of rose petals and several arrangements surrounding letters that lit up when he smiled. “Will you marry me?” the letters read, and Nick got down on one knee, revealing a ring that sparkled from afar. Without hesitation and with my heart pounding, I took the first step towards him. He took my trembling hand, and we looked at each other.
“Alaia, love of my life, we’ve traveled this long and difficult road, and nothing and no one has

been able to extinguish our love. Everything that happened made us stronger. Now we know that nothing and no one can destroy it.” My tears fell freely; they were tears of happiness. “Tonight, I want to ask you to seal this pact of love, once again and forever. Do you agree to be my wife, again?”
I smiled through my tears, remembering that this was where he had proposed to me the first time. The game had ended, and the lights had gone out. The coach had come up to me and taken me to the middle of the field. The lights had come back on, and there was Nick, in his
team uniform, down on one knee. He had had a simple ring in his hands, one that I’d kept among my jewelry until now. The stadium had erupted in shouts and applause when I’d said
yes.
“I do,” I said through tears.
I saw fireworks followed by several shouts, but I couldn’t see where they were coming from because Nick put the ring on my finger and kissed me, sealing our pact of love.
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” he repeated, kissing me over and over again and wrapping
me in his arms.
“I love you more.” I caressed his face and heard the shouts again. This time I allowed myself to see them, and my mouth dropped open when I saw that it was our families, our children;
they were all in the stands next to the tunnel.
My children ran towards us, and we took them in our arms as everyone came to congratulate us. Tino was a mess of tears, and our mothers also looked emotional. Everyone celebrated, and Nick and I looked at each other, knowing that none of this would be happening if Nick hadn’t asked me to love him once more.
