CHAPTER 32
ASHER POV
I insisted that Ivy be moved straight to a room that was private and she was hooked up to
every machine that she needed to be on, she was hooked up to an IV and a blood bag but she
was just lying there. Completely lifeless. Like she wasn’t even there anymore.
All I kept wondering was, where the hell is she? Where is she right now? This wasn’t the Ivy
that I know. Not lying here. She was a fighter. She wasn’t going to let someone like this stop
her. She was so much stronger than this.
IVY POV
I am standing in the middle of a town that was nothing but rubble and debris lying around
everywhere. There was nothing left of the town. The buildings were half destroyed, cars
overturned, small fires everywhere. Someone you would see in a post apocalyptic movie or
something.
I stood there looking around at the bodies that litter the ground. Human bodies. They were
innocents. The victims of Jackson.
“He isn’t going to stop. Not any time soon.” A voice says behind me. And I turned around to
see a dark skinned woman standing being me with long brown hair wearing a white flowing
dress blowing in the wind. But there was no wind.
“I know that he’s not going to stop. Not until we stop him.” I say.
“And how do you plan on having that child?” She asked, standing next to me.
“I have no idea.” I say.
“I never meant to create such a beast. He was never meant to turn out this way. But because
people make their own choices, other people’s choices have forced him down this path.” She
explained.
“You never meant to create him this way?” I asked.
“That’s right.” She says.
“Seline.” I say. But for some reason I wasn’t completely shocked that I was standing in the
presence of the moon goddess.
“That’s right.” She says.

“So, how do we stop him? We can’t let him keep slaughtering people like this.” I say.
“Only you have the power to stop him.” She says.
“I don’t have any kind of power. I am not what people think I am. I’m not a savior. I was just lucky enough to be mated to an Alpha.” I say.
“You don’t need physical power. You just need to be able to find something that he needs in
order to stop him.” She says.
“His achilles heel.” I say.
“Exactly.” She smiles over at me.
“And do you know what that is? Is it possible for a hint? Because I have no idea.” say.
“You need to know the man to destroy the monster.” She says.
“What if I don’t want to get to know the man?” I asked.
“I’m afraid it’s the only way. You need to find out what turned him into the monster that you
see before you.” She says.
“There’s no time for that. He’s already trying to take over the country. He’s killed the council.” I
say.
“The council will be replaced. Once he is finished.” She says.
“You’re the moon goddess. Do you know how long this war will last?” I asked.
“Unfortunately. I can’t see an end in sight. And many lives will be lost. Which means you can’t
afford to be in this hospital bed right now doing nothing. There is much to be done. And you
need to get to work.” She says.
“I’m scared. I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve only ever needed to worry about my
own survival because of him.” I say.
“I know. But now you have your own pack and family. They will stand behind you either way you go. Whatever you decide, they will stand with you. You need to use that. You can do this Ivy, I believe in you. You can do this.” She says as she slowly faded away.
ASHER POV
I was sitting next to Ivy’s bed holding her hand when the door opened and Beau came inside.
“She’s still not awake.” He says sitting on the other side of the bed.
No. Nothing yet.” I say.

“You should get some rest.” Beau says.
“I’m not leaving her.” I insisted, absolutely determined that I was going to be here when she woke up.
“Get them to bring another bed in here then. Lie down beside her. That’s probably what she
needs. Her mate is right beside her.” Beau says.
“You’ve changed your tune. You’re actually accepting us now?” I asked skeptically and he
looked at Ivy laying there lifeless and I could see the pain in his face.
“I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done. Before the explosion went off, she was talking about
you. The bond is getting stronger. I can’t deny that. I’m not gonna say that I don’t still have
feelings for her because that would be a lie. But I think whatever she felt for me once has long disappeared.” Beau explained.
“Those other two bastards are lucky that they’re dead. Otherwise I’d make their deaths a hell
of a lot slower.” I say.
“Don’t think about them. Think about Ivy. And what a great Luna she is going to make when
she wakes up. She didn’t run.” Beau says.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“When that woman held up the device. We heard the ticking but we couldn’t see the timer. We didn’t know how long we had before it went off. And Ivy started screaming.” Beau says.
“I can’t imagine Ivy screaming.” I say.
“She wasn’t screaming in fear. She was screaming at the guard to unlock MY cell. She tried to
get me out of there before it went off.” Beau explained.
“She tried to save your life?” I asked in amazement and awe.
“Yeah. She wasn’t going to leave me there to die. But we had less time than we thought. They didn’t even get the cell door open when it went off. But they were waiting for Ivy to visit. They never tried anything until she was there.” Beau explained.
“Yeah. We already figured that one out. They were sent here to kill her.” I say.
“Well, I honestly think it will take more than an explosion to kill Ivy. There’s no way she would give Jackson the satisfaction.” Beau says.
“Tell me about it.” I say. We sat there in silence for a little while when I heard my fathers voice flittering through my head:
‘Jackson wants a conference call with you. He’s on the screen in the meeting hall. Dad told

“What is it?” Beau asked.
“Jackson wants to talk to me.” I say.
“I’ll stay with Ivy if you want. So she’s not alone.” Beau says.
“Thanks.” I say.
So I got up and I kissed Ivy on the forehead and then I headed out of the room and straight to
the meeting hall where everyone was standing around but they all parted to the sides when I
got there and I walked up the screen where Jackson was.
He wasn’t standing in the middle of a town this time. He was in a building. There were no
dead bodies. It looked like his headquarters for whatever the hell he was doing right now.
“It’s good to see you again, Alpha Asher. I’m glad to see you managed to get those survivors out just fine.” Jackson says.
“Yeah. Next time you want to set a trap for me, send more men. You’re gonna need them.” Jackson says.
“I noticed that they never returned. And they were good fighters.” Jackson says.
“Not as good as mine. What the f**k do you want?” I asked.
“I just wanted to see how you’re holding up. It’s never easy losing a mate. Especially in an explosion like that.” Jackson said and I looked away from the screen for a moment.

“You know that I am going to kill you when I get my hands on you.” I assured him.
“I don’t know about that. My pack is becoming quite large. It could be quite a lot of blood shed.” Jackson says.
“Well, Who’s fault is that? You started this. Not me.” I say.
“Actually, you poaching my doctor and her daughter is what started this.” Jackson says.
“Don’t you mean YOUR daughter?” I asked. And he froze in his spot. ” Oh, I can see that your pack standing behind you doesn’t know that Ivy is your daughter. Yeah, he’s the one that raped Stella when she was 14. Jackson is Ivy’s father.” I announced it to everyone.
“You have no proof of that.” Jackson spat at me.
“I have a paternity test here proving that you’re her father. My whole pack knows about it. Why doesn’t yours?” I asked. And I could hear murmuring from his pack behind him.

“Shut the f**k up you mutts.” He screamed at them with his Alpha aura obviously pouring out
of him because they fell to their knees in pain at the command.
“Wow. You need to command them to do what you say. Is that how you’ve managed to hold on to them for so long. You’ve commanded them never to leave you?” I asked.
“You cocky son of a b***h. I hope your second chance mate is worth it. We all know that Ivy definitely wasn’t. She was just a mistake from a one night stand with her mother.” Jackson
says.
“Her mother was 14. You can spin it anyway that you can. You still raped her.” I say.
“Well, it doesn’t change anything. She will never get her hands on my pack. Especially not now.” He grinned.
“Yeah. Sending those people in to kill her was genius. And it will be the end of you. You better
watch your back and make sure that you’re warriors are as good as you think they are. Because I’m coming for you. And I won’t stop until you’re dead and the world is free.” I say calmly and I cut the feed.
“Why didn’t you tell him that Ivy was alive?” Mom asked me.
“Because I think Ivy should do that herself when she wakes up.” I smile at her. And she smiles
back.
“Well, that will be a massive kick in the teeth.” She says.
‘Asher. Get back to the hospital now. It’s Ivy.‘ Beau mindlinked me. Immediately my stomach. dropped and I started running from the building with everyone standing there completely in the dark about what was going on.
