CHAPTER 30

I got to the meeting hall and two men were in there having an argument about something that I knew nothing about. They were for two different packs and I ran in and got between them.
“What the hell is going on in here?” I asked.
“That asshole thinks that his pack was stronger than my pack. So I told him to prove it and he won’t.” One man yelled.
“Are you f**king kidding me right now? What the hell is wrong with you two? Neither of you have a pack anymore. Look around you. This is it. This is what you have. You two are on each others side now. There are no more sides.” I yelled. And they looked around at everyone else. No one were separated into packs that they came from, they were all just getting along with everyone else not trying to make enemies and just trying to survive.
“There is too much fighting going on outside this territory. Why would you want to start fighting here?” I asked. And that seemed to calm them down enough. But they went on other sides of the room.
I looked at the warriors who were just standing around and they straightened up when they saw me looking at them.
“Why don’t you do your goddam jobs so I can do mine. I was just in the emergency room removing a goddamn tree branch from a woman’s leg.” I yelled at them as I was leaving.
I walked outside and I grabbed a cigarette straight away and I tried to calm down a little. I know that running a pack can’t be easy but I am doing it along right now and I was thrown into the deep end. I have no experience and I was just told to do it.
One of the refugees came out to see me but looked really hesitant.
“Can I help you?” I asked.
“I just needed some fresh air as well.” She says.
“You look like you were going to ask me something.” I say.
“I just wanted to make sure that you were alright. You looked a little overwhelmed.” She says.
ו”
guess you can say that. I’ll be fine. The job will get easier, the longer I do it.” I say.
“Yeah. I know. My father was the Alpha of our pack.” She says.
“I’m sorry.” I say knowing that he was dead.
“Thanks. I’m Sage.” She says.

“Ivy.” I say.
“Well, it’s nice to officially meet you.” She says.
“Can you tell me the truth?” I asked.
“Sure.” She says.
“What does everyone in there think about me being Jackson’s daughter?” I asked.
“I don’t know. They were shocked at first. A little untrusting. But right now, I think it’s hard for
them to trust anyone.” She says.
“Yeah. I know. It was a shock to me as well when I found out.” I say.
“When did you find out?” She asked.
“A couple weeks ago maybe.” I say.
“Holy crap. Is that all?” She asked, looking at me in complete surprise.
“Yeah. I didn’t know my whole life. It was a long kept secret.” I say.
“Well, if you didn’t even know until recently then there’s no way anyone can think that you’re on
his side.” She says.
“I hope now. Anyway, I need to get going. It was nice to meet you Sage.” I say.
“You too.” She says as she starts walking away.
I started heading back to the packhouse and I had been completely oblivious all afternoon that my guards were still following me everywhere. I hadn’t even noticed them. But they were
still there.
I saw the sun setting over the trees and I stopped along the path to the packhouse just to admire the sun setting for a minute when I heard a voice flitter in from the left of me. I turned
my
head to see Chloe approaching me with some friends.
“Well, well. If it isn’t our little bastard Luna.” Chloe says. And Sawyer took a step forward but I stopped him.
“Don’t bother. She’s just jealous.” I say. And Chloe started laughing.
“Jealous of what?” She asked.
“That Asher wants me and not you. Must really kill you. You wear those clothes, that make up, you work out every day only for guys in this pack to treat you like an easy lay. And then I walk in and I don’t do any of that. I definitely don’t dress like you, I don’t act like you, I don’t wear make up like you and I don’t work out every day in order to keep a smoking hot body. And yet,

I’ve managed to entice two of the Alpha brothers so far. That’s what you’re jealous of.” I say.
“Yeah right. We all know that Beau was just using you for Jackson.” She says.
“Not when I first got here. Jackson only got his hands on Beau after he left town. That was after he found out that Asher and I were mates and that he needed to back off. If you’re going to throw insults at me, at least get the facts straight.” I say.
“Well, if you think Asher is going to keep a bastard like you around then forget it. He’ll get tired
of you.” She says.
“When was the last time Asher slept in your bed and just wanted to stay awake all night
talking and getting to know you?” I asked.
“What?” She asked.
“You heard me? When has he ever done that? Because he hasn’t been sleeping in his bed
lately. And we haven’t even had s*x yet.” I say. And I could see the tears starting to fill her eyes and she let out a sob that she didn’t mean to and she tried to regain her composure but she
couldn’t. So she threw her hair to the side and kept on walking with her friends following like
lost little puppies.
“Well, if she didn’t hate me before. She definitely does now.” I say. And Declan chuckled but
then clamped his mouth shut like it was an accident.
I then got a mind link to come to the border immediately. The main road. And I told the
guards. So we ran up to the packhouse and got in one of the cars and headed to the border.
When we got out of the car there were people standing outside the border. But they weren’t asylum seekers. They were reporters.
“I’m sorry Luna. We didn’t know who else to call. They’re asking all these questions about
Jackson.” One of the warriors said walking over to me. But we stayed back away from the
border so they couldn’t hear us talking.
“How long would it take to get a gate put up? A really large gate?” I asked.
“A few days. At least.” He says.
“What about a boom gate with constant guards?” I asked.
“We can get started on that right now. I’ll get the contractors from the pack to get started on
it.” He says.
“Alright. And make sure that every inch of the border is patrolled. I don’t want any of these
people getting through. They can’t see the inside of this territory.” I explained to him.

“Absolutely.” He says.
So me and my guards head back to the packhouse where Elsie refused to let me leave until I had something to eat. But there were still things that I needed to check on before I could call it a night.
It wasn’t until about midnight when I was sure that everything was under control and the warriors had everything under control that I finally called it a night and went back to the packhouse.
I went up to my room and I had a shower and I got dressed into my pajamas and I sat in bed looking at my phone. There had been no contact from Asher and I was getting worried. He left hours ago and they should be back now if they were just going to pick people up.
I was terrified that they had run into a trap and that they weren’t able to come back. Luckily he had told his father where they were going so that we could go after them if we needed to. But I couldn’t jump the gun. I needed to be absolutely sure that everything was alright.
ME – Asher. Have you got the people yet?
ASHER – Yeah. We ran into a little trouble and are laying low right now. We will make a break for it at the first chance we get. We are all unharmed.
ME – Do you need more help? I can send more people.
ASHER – No. We will get out of this. We just need to wait them out. It will be alright. How is
everything in the pack?
ME–Calm. Absolutely nothing happening here.
ASHER- Good. I can’t wait to see you when I get home.
ME – Me too. Just make it soon.
When I was sure that Asher was still alive and not captured I went downstairs to the
basement where Beau was still sitting in the cell and I sat on a chair just outside his cell. The
other two were on the other side of the room glaring at me. But I kept my back to them.
“So, I’ve heard things are pretty hectic at the moment.” He says.
“Yeah. You can say that. Asher and some men have gone to go and get some people in
trouble. Their not back yet. I’m worried about them.” I say.
“Asher will be alright. There’s nothing that can stop that stubborn son of a bitch.” He says.
“I hope so.” I say.
“It sounds like you two are getting closer.” He says. And I smile at him.

“Is it that obvious? I guess the bond is taking hold.” I say.
“I knew that it would if he spent enough time with you. I told him too.” Beau says.
“I know that I shouldn’t talk to you about this.” I say.
“It’s fine. When I found out that you two were mates, I left town so you two could spend more
time together.” Beau says.
“Well, it still took him his sweet ass time to get close to me.” I say. And I notice Beau looking
behind me. He was looking at the other two prisoners weirdly. They were the ones from
Jackson’s pack. So I turned to look at them and they were talking to each other through the
cells and acting really strange.
“Do you know what they’re doing?” I asked.
“No idea.” Beau says standing up. And I stood up as well and the guards stepped closer.
The woman then stood up and looked directly at me and held out a device in her hand and
started cackling to herself.
“Nothing can stop Jackson. You messed with the wrong Alpha.” She says and I saw the timer
on the device.
“Oh sh*t.” I yelled. “Get Beau out of the cell, now.” I screamed at the guard. But we were too
late. The device detonated and threw me flying across the room and the whole building shook like an earthquake with everything falling down off of tables and cupboards from above us.
