CHAPTER 28
The following morning when I woke up Asher was still asleep and I looked at the clock and it
said 8am. I knew that there was a lot of stuff to do and I tried to get up carefully but Asher
pulled me back to him.
“No. It’s a stay in bed all day today.” He says.
“Yeah right. We both know that’s never going to happen.” I giggle.
“I know. But I don’t want to get up.” He says.
“We have. to. There’s way too much stuff to do today. Come on.” I say.
“Fine.” He says reluctantly getting up. And we both started getting dressed.
Asher was finished before me and he said that he was going straight to the meeting hall.
“I’ll meet you there. I have to stop by the hospital first and then I will be there.” I say.
“Alright. Don’t go anywhere without your guards.” He says.
“I know. They’ve been following me for days. It’s a little hard for me to forget them.” I said and he smiled at me before he left.
But once he was gone the smile wiped from my face and I went further to the back of my wardrobe. I got dressed into a black knee length straight dress with a straight cut neckline and black high heels.
I put on a little make up and straightened my hair properly and then I walked out the door and I was so happy to see that my guards weren’t standing right outside my door.
I quietly walked down two flights of stairs and I saw them waiting for me in the living room so I mind linked them and asked them to meet me at the back of the house. So when they left the living room I walked through the foyer and out the front door.
I got away from the house as fast as I possibly could because I didn’t want them with me right now. I needed to be alone. I went to the cemetery where the owner of the funeral home was
waiting.
“I don’t think anyone else is coming. Can we just get this done?” I asked.
Absolutely.” He says. So he said a few words about my mother and I stood there as her casket was lowered into the ground slowly and I threw some rose petals on top of the coffin after it had been lowered into the ground.
The owner of the funeral home said that he would give me some time alone with her. And I

nodded at him and he walked off while I stood there staring at the grave. I didn’t know if I
should say anything, and if I should say something then I had no clue what the hell I was
going to say. It wasn’t something that I was used to doing. This was the first funeral I had ever been to and it wasn’t exactly a conventional one. With everything that was going on, I was here alone because everyone else forgot. I don’t blame them for forgetting. I didn’t remind Asher this morning before he left because I know that he has a lot of his own crap to deal
with.
I don’t know how long I was standing there before I felt fingers snake around my own fingers and the fresh smell of rain hit my nose and I knew that it was Asher. I looked at him standing
beside me holding my hand and he had actually gone home and changed. His hair was in a
neat pony tail and he was staring at the open grave as well.
“I am so sorry that I forgot about today. You know that I would have been here.” He says,
“You had other things to do. But she wasn’t alone. I was here.” I say trying to hold back my
sobs.
“You know that you’re not alone, right. Your mother might be gone, but you’re a part of this pack now. Which means this pack if your family now. So you will never be alone again.” He tells me.
“Sometimes it doesn’t feel like it. It feels like I’m still an outsider.” I say as tears fall down my cheeks and he puts his arm around me and I rest my head on his shoulder.
“You will never be an outsider again. That I can promise you.” He says.
“I know. You won’t let me go.” I say.
“What do you mean by that?” He asked.
“Mom. I didn’t know what to say to you right now. But I guess now is as good a time as any to
let you know that I found my mate. And he’s going to take good care of me. So you can rest in peace. I will be taken care of.” I say. And Asher’s grip on my waist tightened a little bit.
When the men came to start filling in the grave Asher and I started walking off and he was
holding my hand again as we headed back to the packhouse.
“How long have you known about us two?” He asked.
“A little while, Probably since the first time you touched me and the sparks flew up my arm. It
was pretty intense.” I say.
‘I should have known that you would have figured it out.” He says.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?‘ I asked.

“Because I wanted you to find out for yourself. I thought it was going to happen on your 18th birthday. But I was finding it harder and harder to stay away from you.” He says.
“I noticed. Sleeping in my bed and all. But you were really willing to wait that long for me to find out that we are mates? My birthday isn’t for a while yet.” I say.
“I know. I was willing to wait. But I guess I don’t have to now.” He says.
“No. I guess you don’t have to.” I smirked.
We went back to the packhouse where I changed into a gray sports top and gray and white tights, socks and sand shoes. Asher and I then went to the back of the packhouse to a room that I didn’t even know was there. It didn’t get used for anything. But Asher has now turned it
into a gym with mats on the floor and exercise equipment.
He was wearing a tank top and gym shorts and he took me to the middle of the mats.
“Alright. So, you’ve never had any training before in your life?” He asked.
“Nope. None at all except for when I started coming to school here. But that was only a few basic lessons.” I say.
“Alright. Well, I will treat you as if you’ve had no training at all.” He says.
“No worries. Let’s get started.” I say.
So we both got into the protective stances and he attacked first while I had to try and fend it off but he got me to the ground immediately.
“Ouch.” I say getting up.
“Are you alright?” He asked.
“Would you ask an opponent if they were alright?” I asked. Getting back into my protective
stance,
He attacked again and got me down even quicker this time. And each time I was knocked to the ground by his massive weight, I gotta say, it hurt like a son of b***h. But we kept going and I wouldn’t give up. Not even when he wanted to.
We were training for three hours and by the time we were done I could barely walk and I was dripping with sweat and we headed into the house where a couple of warriors were waiting for

“We’re sending out that scout party tonight. We’re going to start looking for survivors. We were just wondering what to do if we come across human survivors?” The head warrior asked. And
Asher looked over at me and I was a little concerned.

“If they’re willing to come back here then bring them here. They will be safe. No one will hurt them and we’ll find somewhere separate for them to sleep. Not in the meeting hall.” I say looking at Asher.
“Yeah. Sounds good. If they’re willing then bring them. If not then there’s nothing we can do about it.” He says.
“Yes, sir.” The warrior says and they all head out.
“Why do you look at me whenever you need to make decisions like that? I know that you know
the answers to them.” I say.
“Because you’re the future Luna. And I wanted to see if you had any good ideas when it comes
to these situations. Especially now.” He says.
“Did I pass the test?” I asked.
“With flying colors.” He said as we headed to the stairs and I needed to hold the bannister to help me up the stairs and Asher started laughing.
“Shut up. That’s the worst beating I’ve ever taken.” I say.
“Are we skipping tomorrow?” He asked.
“Hell no. I’ll be healed by then,” I say.
So we got upstairs to my room where I took a shower and ran the hot water on my skin but I was interrupted by Asher singing out to me.
So I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around me and I went into my room where he was watching the TV.
Jackson was on the screen with hundreds of people standing behind him. His werewolves. The people from his pack and people he has forced to join his pack.
“Alpha Asher. This message is for you. You stood in my way and this is what happened. All you had to do was hand the girl over. But you couldn’t do this. So all this bloodshed is on your hands.” Jackson announced and the camera pulled back to reveal a human town somewhere in Kentucky with human bodies littered all around him and his people.
‘Don’t feel discouraged dear boy. I will be coming for you and your pack. And everyone inside it will die. As for by, I look forward to seeing you again real soon. And you won’t die as quickly as the rest of them. I promise you that.” Jackson smirks and then the video feed cuts off and I stood in shock while Asher looked at me with concern on his face.
