CHAPTER 24
IVY POV
Waking up to Beau being in my room was definitely a shock, but Asher dragging him out of the room was even more of a shock. I didn’t know what their problem was but I had never seen them together before. Maybe they had always been like that.
So I stayed in my room while they went to go and talk and I sat in bed looking out the window with my knees up to my chest trying not to think about what my mother went through before she died. But it was really hard not to when I received that photo and her finger in the mail. Jackson was definitely losing it. I knew that he was weird but he was just unhinged now.
I finally got up and I walked to the bathroom to have a shower and I got dressed into a baggy shirt and jeans. I walked out of my room and downstairs where I saw Beau sitting in the living
room with his family.
“Honey. Are you okay? Are you hungry or anything?” Elsie asked.
“No thanks. I was just gonna get a coffee.” I say walking to the kitchen. I got my coffee and I went to the back of the house where I sat outside and lit a cigarette.
“Ivy.” Someone said from the door and I turned around and saw Beau standing there.
“How’s it going?” I asked.
“Pretty good. How are you?” He asked.
“I’m fine. Is everything alright with you and the Alpha?” I asked.
“Yeah. I think he was just shocked to see me here.” He says.
“Probably. No one expected you to leave and no one expected you to come back. Why did you come back?” I asked.
“Because I heard about your mother.” He says.
“You didn’t care about me when you left, why do you care about me now?” I asked.
“That’s not true. There was a lot more to the story than you realize.” He says.
“Yeah. That’s what everyone says. I’m getting a little sick of hearing it.” I say.
“Sorry.” He says. And I heard a growl at the backdoor. And instantly I knew that it was Alpha
Asher.
“I was just talking to her.” Beau snapped at him.

“I told you to stay the f**k away from her.” Alpha Asher growls.
“We were friends once.” Beau says.
“Yeah. Until you woke up and disappeared on her.” Alpha Asher says.
“What the hell are you two fighting over? This whole thing better not be because of me.” I say
standing up.
“Beau shouldn’t have come back.” Alpha Asher says.
“Why? Are you afraid that I can do a better job than you can do? At least I wouldn’t be stupid enough to get myself knocked out with wolfsbane so that Jackson could capture her. If I was the one watching her then she wouldn’t need three guards with her at all times. I would be with her.” Beau yelled at Alpha Asher.
“How the hell do you know that?” I asked.
“What?” Beau asked. And Asher looked at him suspiciously.
“How do you know all that? You weren’t here and no one could get a hold of you. No one told you any of that stuff.” I say.
“Well, I heard it all after I came back.” Beau stumbled over the words.
“No you didn’t. You’ve been here all morning and our parents haven’t said anything about it. They’ve just been more interested in what you’ve been doing.” Alpha Asher says. I heard his
heart rate pick up
“Beau, what the hell have you done?” I asked. And Alpha Asher took a few steps out of the house approaching his brother.
Beau was looking nervous. He started taking steps backwards from Asher and I looked at him really suspiciously.
“Beau. What have you done?” I asked again.
“He came to me alright. He just wanted me to give a little information. No one in town even knew that I was back. I was living in the basement.” Beau explained.
“You’re the mole in my pack passing information to Jackson.” Alpha Asher growled so loudly that it made me jump.
‘Cole. Get out here now.’ I mind linked him sounding as urgent as I could.
Cole came running out the back and he saw the exchange that was about to happen. Alpha Asher was already starting to grow fur on his arms and was so furious that the shift was happening on its own. His wolf was taking control.

“I was never going to let Jackson get his hands on Ivy. Believe me. I wasn’t.” Beau says.
“But he killed my mother.” I said.

“I didn’t know anything about that. Jeremiah was in charge of that. I was only in charge of watching you.” Beau assured me. Their dad then ran out as well, Cole must have mind linked him, and his dad grabbed Asher while Cole dragged Beau inside.
He was ordered to take Beau to the dungeon and their dad yelled at me to get inside. When Asher lost control of his wolf it got really bad and I ran inside where Elsie was waiting for me.
“Beau was giving Jackson information about me.” I say.
“I know. I heard. Cole mindlinked both of us. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen.” She
says.
His dad came back inside later alone and he says that Asher needed to go for a run. I was sitting at the kitchen bench with a coffee.
“Are you alright sweetie?” Henry asked.
“I really don’t know how to answer that right now.” I say.
“I know. Too much has happened in the last couple of days.” He says.
“How could Beau do that? Why would he help Jackson?” I asked.
“I’m about to go and find out. Do you want to come with me?” Henry asked. But I shook my head and looked away. I couldn’t look at Beau right now. I couldn’t face him. Not after what
he’s done.
So Henry headed down to the cell’s in the dungeon and I finished my coffee and I went back upstairs to my bedroom but my phone started ringing as soon as I got there.
“Hello.” I answered.
“Hi Ivy. This is Emily from the hospital.” She says.
“Hi. Is everything alright?” I asked.
“Yeah. I was just contacted by the morgue. They wanted me to call you.” She says.
“Oh. What about?” I asked.
“They want to know about funeral arrangements for your mother.” She says.
“I don’t know. I haven’t even thought about that yet.” I stuttered out.
“Alright. Well, I told them that I would pass the message along and then you can make the arrangements as you please.” She says.

CHAPTER 24
“Yeah. Thank you.” I say. And I hung up.
I lay down on the bed again just staring out the window and I knew that things needed to be sorted but I didn’t know how the hell I was going to get through this alone. How was I going to plan a funeral?
I waited for a little while before I went downstairs and Elsie was in the living room.
“I was wondering if you knew where the funeral home was? I just got a call from the hospital wanting to know about funeral arrangements.” I say.
“Yeah. I know where it is. Do you want me to take you?” She asked.
“Oh no. It’s probably the last thing that you want to do today.” I say.
“No. It’s the last thing that you want to do. But I will definitely come with you and help you.”
She says.
“Thank you. I appreciate that.” I say.
So we got our things and we headed straight to the funeral home and we were greeted
immediately by the owner.
He knew Elsie because she was the past Luna, of course, and she introduced me and he could
tell that I was really uncomfortable here.
“Can we just hurry up and get this done please? I really just want to get it done.” I say.
“Absolutely. We’ll start with the caskets.” He said taking us into the showroom and I was
looking around at a room full of caskets and everything seemed really overwhelming.
Elsie put her arm around me for comfort and the owner stood off to the side.
“It’s alright sweetie. Just take your time. You don’t need to hurry up for us. Just look at them
and pick the one that you think your mother would have loved.” She says.
So I walked around the room and I looked at all the caskets but it was still too overwhelming.
But I had narrowed it down to a couple of choices.
I was standing there looking at one of them when I felt a hand on my shoulder and immediate sparks shot down my arm and I knew that Asher was there.
I turned to look at him and he had obviously been back to the house and gotten dressed from
his run.
“I wanted to make sure that you didn’t have to do this alone.” He says.
“Your mother has been great.” I say. Looking back at the white casket with little pink flowers

engraved on it.
“I think that one is beautiful.” He says.
“Yeah. I think this is the one.” I say.
We were at the funeral home for about two hours making all the arrangements and then we had to get back to the packhouse and Henry and Cole were waiting for us to return.
“What’s going on?” Alpha Asher asked.
“There’s been an attack.” Henry says.
“I would have been notified.” Alpha Asher says.
“It wasn’t us that was attacked. It was the werewolf council.” Cole says.
“Someone attacked the werewolf council. Who the hell did that?” Alpha Asher asked.
“Jackson did. And he killed them all.” Henry says.
