CHAPTER 22
Asher was only kept in hospital for a couple of hours, until his blood work came back and he had no wolfsbane left in his system. And the first thing he did when he was released was take
me to my house with my three guards and I packed a bag and we headed back to the
packhouse.
When we got there I was introduced to his parents officially.
“Ivy. This is our mother Elsie and our father Henry.” Cole introduced.
“It’s nice to finally officially meet you. I am really sorry if this is putting you out.” I say.
“It’s not. Don’t be ridiculous. We’re happy to have you here.” Elsie says and I smile at her.
“Come on. I’ll show you to your room.” Alpha Asher says. So I followed him up two flights of
stairs to the third floor and he opened a door and let me inside the massive bedroom with a
large fireplace, huge TV on the wall and the walk in robe and ensuite bathroom.
“My room is next door. If anything happens, just scream if you can’t mindlink.” Alpha Asher
says.
“Wow. VIP treatment. I’m staying on the Alpha floor.” I say.
“Yeah. Well, it’s the only place I know that I can keep you safe.” He says, starting to leave the
room.
“It’s not your responsibility to keep me safe.” I say. And he stopped and turned around to look
at me.
“I’m the Alpha. You’re a pack member. I keep my whole pack safe.” He says. “Anyway, I’ll let
you get settled in.” He says leaving my room.
I put my bag in the cupboard but didn’t unpack it and I was looking around the room for a few
minutes when it happened again. The sirens went off and there was shouting through the
mindlink and I ran out of my room and down the stairs.
I saw the women and children heading to the packhouse where the shelter was and Sawyer,
Bentley and Devon all made sure that I got to the hospital safely during the attack.
“This is bullshit.” I screamed as we were running to the hospital.
When we got there I started prepping the room and got everything ready for the incoming
wounded. But I was surprised when it took so long for the first wounded to come in. And they
were just minor injuries.

CHAPTER 22
The whole attack was weird. It lasted about half an hour and all the wounded were minor
injuries and none had to be admitted to the hospital. So I headed back to the packhouse. But
on my way there I heard one woman’s voice come through the mind link.
“We all know that this is because of Ivy Inglewood. If she wasn’t here then these attacks
wouldn’t be happening.” The young woman said. She sounded around my age.
“Report to the packhouse immediately. I want to talk to you.” The Alpha commanded.
When I got there Alpha Asher was in the living room with Cole and their parents and they were all looking at me weird.
“Alright. What stupid mind games is he playing this time?” I asked.
“That attack was a diversion. Probably so that we couldn’t determine which side of the line
that she was killed on.” Alpha Asher says.
“Who?” I asked confused for a second. And then he gave me that sorry look and I started
shaking my head. “No.” I say.
“I’m sorry Ivy. Your mother’s body was found once they started retreating. I think they just attacked to leave the body and then leave.” Alpha Asher says.
“No.” I said again as the tears started rolling down my face. ” No..no…no…no…” I repeat collapsing to the ground in a fit of hysterical tears.
Asher sat on the ground next to me and pulled me close, hugging me. I clawed at his shirt not wanting to believe what he just told me. She couldn’t be dead. My mother was all I had in the world. She was all I knew. There had to be a mistake.
