CHAPTER 19
“Oh my god.” Alpha Asher muttered to himself.
“Jeremiah Jameson.” I say as tears roll down my face.
“What?” He asked.
“That man is Jeremiah Jameson. He’s Jackson’s Beta. The tattoo on his neck. It’s a dead
giveaway.” I say.
“He’s not very smart to let a mark like that be photographed.” Alpha Asher says.
“No one has ever accused Jeremiah of being smart. He’s just muscle and does what Jackson
says. That’s why he’s the Beta. Because he doesn’t question any order.” I explained.
“Alright. I’m going to take this photo to our tech people and see if they can try and pull
anything off of it. Maybe there’s something in the background or a reflection or something that might tell us where she is.” Alpha Asher says.
“Okay.” I say.
“Are you going to the hospital?” He asked.
“Yeah. I’ll go now.” I say.
“I’ll meet you there.” He says taking the photo and leaving the house.
I needed to gather myself first. I knew that Jackson had her this whole time but why? What
was so important about us that he made his entire pack shun us and then come looking for us when we disappeared. And then kidnap my mother. I knew that there was more to the story.
I looked upwards at the second floor while I was still in the kitchen and I thought that I had enough of not knowing anything. So I ran up the stairs and straight into my mother’s room.
I started tearing the place apart. Pulling out all of the cupboards, ripping her clothes out of the drawers, trying to find something that she could have hidden from me. I even lifted the mattress to see if there was anything there. But I couldn’t find anything.
So I went to her office next. I pulled out all the drawers in her desk and then I started going through her filing cabinet. But again I didn’t find anything that had to do with Jackson. But just before I left I looked at one of the drawers that I pulled out of her desk and I saw that it had a false bottom to it. So I sat on the floor and pulled up that false bottom and there was a heap of paper work in there.
I saw the bank statement that she accidentally left out. There was a bank book for the same

account that was in my name. There was also a letter from Alpha Jackson that he had sent to her. Most of them were threatening and telling her to make sure that she kept her mouth shut.
He wasn’t going to let a little slut like her ruin his life or reputation in his pack.
I was right. My mother had something on him and she was forced to keep it quiet this whole
time. But she even hid it from me. She could have told me once we left the pack, but she
didn’t. She still kept it to herself. And then I found a piece of paper right down the bottom of
the draw and I opened it up and read it.
“Holy f**k.” I say to myself.
I folded up that piece of paper and I put it in my bag to keep it close to me, because I knew that I would be needing to sooner rather than later and then I went downstairs and I grabbed
my stuff and left the house.
I headed to the hospital and I went to check on all the patients from the attack and I was finally able to release the last of them. Which meant that we had no more patients in the
hospital.
But instead of going home I went to the library that was in the hospital and I grabbed a couple of medical journals and I started reading through them and taking notes.
Emily came to get me and said that a kid had fallen and broken his leg. They need me in emergency. So I head straight down there and I get an x–ray and I make sure that the bone is pointing the right way and I give him the anesthetic before I start wrapping it and plastering it.
I tell his parents that he will be fine in a couple of days. Come back and I’ll take another x–ray and he should be able to get the cast off. So they thanked me and they left the hospital.
I went back to the nurses station and I started reading the medical journals again so I could learn more to help these people. There were so many people in need here and no one to treat them. I guess I was their only hope at the moment. I hated turning all those people away
yesterday.
My phone started ringing and it was the same number as those prank phone calls so I didn’t even bother answering it.
“I thought you didn’t want to be a doctor.” Alpha Asher says from behind me when he sees
what I’m reading.
“I don’t really have a choice right now. Do I?” I asked.
“You still have to go to school.” He says.
“I know. I’m going back tomorrow. All the patients have been discharged.” I say.

“Alright. Cole will be keeping an eye on you there. I’ve made it so that he’s in all of your classes and I’ll be using my office at the school as well.” Alpha Asher says.
“I definitely know that you have much more important things to do than to baby sit me. I’ll be fine. After taking my mother, I really don’t think he’ll have a chance in hell of getting to me.” I
say.
“Yeah. Who left that photo on your doorstep this morning?” He asked. And I looked at him
stumped.
“Oh my god. You think there’s a traitor.” I whisper.
“There has to be. Because there is no way in hell anyone was getting over that border
undetected. I made sure of it.” He says.
“I’m being watched from inside the pack.” I say looking around at everyone that I was around
already.
“You need to be really careful about who you become friends with now. You need to be careful
who you let into your life. I am not accepting any new members until I find the traitor but you
need to do your part as well.” He says.
“I know.” I say. Then I heard one of the nurse’s scream so Alpha Asher and I ran over to her.
“That package was delivered but there was no name on it so I opened it.” She squealed while crying. So Alpha Asher picked it up and I looked in the box as well to see a finger in it. And I immediately got the sniffles up and tears pricking the sides of my eyes.
“That’s my mother’s ring.” I say.
“I’m taking you home now. Get this down to the pathologist now. Make sure that it belongs to
Stella.” Alpha Asher ordered one of the nurses, handing her the box.
Alpha Asher took me outside and he insisted on driving me home and someone else would come back and get my car. So we got back to my place and I saw warriors standing outside
the door that was open.
“It’s all clear Alpha. No one’s in there. But a couple of rooms have been trashed.” A warrior
says.
“I did that this morning. Searching my mother’s room and her office.” I say.
“Yeah. Those were the only two rooms trashed.” He says.
“Alright. Declan, Sawyer and Bentley. You are on first watch. Do not leave the perimeter of this house or Ivy.” Alpha Asher demanded as we went inside.

I walked into the house but I just stood there. I looked upstairs, but I didn’t want to go upstairs. I ended up going to the kitchen and I made two coffees and then I sat on the kitchen bench
next to an open window and lit a cigarette.
“I didn’t know you smoked.” Alpha Asher says.
“Only when I’m stressed. And I think this qualifies.” I say.
“Yeah. It definitely does. Does your mother know that you smoke?” He asked.
“Yeah. Again, only when I’m really stressed so she doesn’t have too much of a problem with it.”
I say.
“Jackson’s pack is, seven hours away from here. Do you think that it’s possible he has her
there? I mean, was there enough time for him to get her back to the pack before he sent the first message?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Because we aren’t entirely sure when she was taken. We found her car and it
could have taken them hours to find her in the woods before they caught her during the battle.
No one would have known. So, there’s no way to really tell.” He says.
“Yeah. I guess so.” I say.
“Are you alright?” He asked.
“I’m fine. I’ll be fine.” I say.
“You don’t look it. What aren’t you telling me?” He asked. And I took a deep breath before I pulled that piece of paper out of my bag and I handed it to him.
“I told you that my mother was raped. She was gathering evidence against her rapist. My father.” I say. So he read over the piece of paper and his mouth visibly dropped open, just like
mine did when I saw it for the first time.
