CHAPTER 044
We walked to the border where the warrior said a man was wanting to talk to me.
As soon as we got there, Noah stood in front of me to make sure that it wasn’t a trap or
anything like that. But I hated that he was standing in front of me like I couldn’t take care of
myself.
I know that it was his job and everything, but I was hoping that he would stop seeing me as a
job and start seeing me as something a lot more now.
When we reached the warriors they were all in wolf form but the other guy was in human form
standing on the other side of the border. He wasn’t as old as I was expecting. Not as old as Camila. Not by a long shot, but he definitely looked like her.
“Who are you?” I asked.
“Sawyer. I believe you have my mother and sister in your castle.” He said.
“Camila has another kid?” I asked, shocked.
“She has a few more kids. Not just myself and Rory.” He said.
“Alright. I’m sure you know why your mother and sister are locked up here. They tried to kill the
Queen. So, I hope you’re not expecting me to hand them over. They are under lifetime servitude
to the royal family.” I explained.
“I know that. And I know that no one in the royal family will ever forgive them for what they
did. I don’t even forgive them for what they did. But your mother needs to know that Camila’s
old Alpha has received some information recently. I don’t know what the information is but
he’s pretty mad about it and he is hating the royal family right now.” He explained.
“How?”
“He’s trying to gather other packs to go against the royal family. And he’s succeeding. There’s
two packs that have joined him already. But I don’t know about the rest that owe him favors.
You need to be prepared for a full on attack that could be headed this way.” He said.
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Because when the time comes, I will probably need protection. I will need somewhere to go
because Alpha Xavier knows how much I hate my mother.” He said.
“And you want to be able to flee to this territory? How do I know that this isn’t a set up?” |
asked.

“I guess you’re just gonna have to trust me. And believe that this information is correct.” He said, trying to hand me a piece of paper but Noah stood in front of me and he took the folded
paper instead.
“I guess we’ll see if an attack actually happens.” I said.
“My information is on the bottom of the page. Please let me know once you’ve verified
everything I’ve told you. Believe me, I have absolutely no intentions of going against the royal family. Or pissing off your mother. Everyone knows that’s a death wish just waiting to happen.”
He said before he turned to walk away, back into the woods.
Noah opened the piece of paper and he showed me what was written on it.
The packs that had already sided with Alpha Xavier and the packs that he intended to ask to
side with him. Or probably blackmail to side with him.
Noah was quick to get me the hell out of the forest and back towards the castle.
I was looking at the piece of paper as we were walking across the field when I caught a
familiar scent hit my nose.
I looked up to see Avery standing in the field with a few friends from school. She was looking
straight at me, but it looks like we’d just run into each other by accident because I had to leave
the castle to go to the border.
Noah put his hand on my back and Avery looked over at Lucas. No doubt she was wondering
what the hell he was doing with me.
She looked like she wanted to talk to me, but I looked away and kept walking towards the
castle.
When we got back to the house I went into the office and sat behind the desk.
I started typing in the names that Sawyer wrote on the piece of paper so I could see what I was dealing with.
Alpha Xavier’s pack was really small so it was no surprise that he would need others to help him fight a battle as big as this one.
I got as much information on these packs as I possibly could and printed them out to put them in their own files.
That way I could look at them whenever I wanted to, without needing to carry a computer around with me.
I also checked into all of the packs that he was trying to ally with. But none of them seemed
like a threat to us.

Knowing that, it caused me to do a deep dive into Xavier’s past. Where I found a lot more
information than I wanted to know.
He was definitely a lot more dangerous than I thought. Even if he was a small pack. He was definitely not a kind Alpha.
We all had dinner together that night but Noah and Lucas weren’t really talking to each other.
I think Noah was a little upset that Lucas was still at the house but I didn’t know how to turn
him away right now.
I already made it clear that Lucas wasn’t spending the night. So he left after dinner and I knew
that it would keep his wolf calm so we didn’t end up with another incident like last night.
After dinner I went up to my room to have a shower and when‘ I walked out in my pajamas, I was surprised to see Noah leaning against the wall of my room.
“Wow. You really think a lot of yourself, don’t you?” I asked.
“What’s that meant to mean?”
“You coming to my room and just assuming that you’re going to get some.” I said.
“That’s not why I’m here. There’s a credible threat against you and I’m your personal guard.” He said, pushing off from the wall so he could walk slowly towards me.
“Right. And that’s exactly why you’re waiting in my room tonight. Something that you’ve never done before.” I smirked.
“Like I said, there’s a credible threat.”
“Noah. If you want to sleep in here or if you want me to sleep in your room then just say so.” I said.
“Can I please sleep in here? So I can protect you a lot closer?” He asked. And I started laughing.
“Whatever you need to tell yourself. I’ve already showered and you need to if you’re gonna get in my bed.” I said.
So he leaned forward and kissed me before he walked into the bathroom.
He left the door open while he was in the shower and I sat on the bed with my laptop to do my school work.

When Noah was finished in the shower he walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist. I looked up to see his perfectly chiseled abs that only a goddess herself could create and I
started biting my bottom lip.
“Aren’t you meant to be doing school work instead of perving on me?”
“I can do both.” I said, not being able to peel my eyes off of him.
So he started walking towards me really slowly and I moved my laptop to my bedside table so it wouldn’t get damaged as he leaned over me.
“I don’t want anyone to think I’m a bad influence on you.”
“I can get that work done later.” I said, finding it hard to breathe with him right in my face.
“If you say so.” He said. So I wrapped my arms around his neck and he started kissing me and
nulled him back onto the bed with me.
