CHAPTER 042
EMMA POV
When I woke up the next morning I was lying on my side and Noah’s arm was draped over my waist. His front was pressed right up against my back and I felt so safe in his strong arms.
I laid there without moving for a while because I didn’t want to interrupt this moment. I
actually felt happy for once. Probably for the first time in a long time. I didn’t want it to end, but Noah knew that I was awake and he started kissing around the back of my neck.
I rolled onto my back to look at him and he leaned over me and kissed me on the lips.
He moved my hair out of my face while staring in my eyes.
“No regrets?” He asked.
“Why would I regret that?”
“I don’t know. I was just checking.”
“No regrets.” I said. So he leaned forward and kissed me again.
I decided to skip my workout for that morning but we could only stay in bed for so long.
We had a shower in Noah’s bathroom but I had to sneak back to my room, hoping that Anna or
Maisie didn’t see me.
I got dressed in my room before I headed down to the dining room where they were already
waiting for me.
When Noah came downstairs I told the cook that he would be eating breakfast with us and I
told him to sit at the table.
Anna and Maisie gave each other strange looks, but I didn’t care about that. So Noah sat
down and ate breakfast with us.
I had training with Maisie that morning but after lunch I had to go to the office and get some
work done.
Luckily Pa Koda had left detailed instructions on what I had to do in order to keep things
running smoothly around here with finances and that sort of stuff. The rest he was leaving up
to my intuition. Like, if I was going to allow new people into the pack or not.
It was hard to know who was worthy or not. Especially after dealing with Felix. I didn’t want to
have to do that again. It felt horrible but I knew that it came with the job. If there was an offense committed then it was the leaders responsibility to dish out the punishment. I guess

that was me now. Until my parents decided to come back.
Noah stood inside the office with me and it was making me a little uncomfortable with him just standing there.
I know that he’d been doing it ever since he got here, but things were different now.
“Can you please sit down?” I asked.
“I still have a job to do. No matter what happened last night. I still have to protect you.” He
said.
“And you can still protect me if you’re sitting on the couch.” I said.
“Just do your work. Pretend like I’m not here.”
“What if I don’t want to?”
He just smirked at me as someone knocked on the door.
“Come in.” I sang out.
Camila opened the door and I rolled my eyes.
“There’s someone here to see you.”
“Who?” I asked. So she stepped out of the way and Lucas stood in the doorway.
I stood up quickly at the same time I heard a growl ripple from Noah’s throat.
I bolted over to the door as fast as I could before Noah could get his hands on Lucas.
“It’s alright.” I said, putting my hands on Noah’s chest trying to push him back.
“He came here to attack you last night.” Noah said.
“I know. But there’s more to the story than you understand. You can piss off.” I said to Camila.
She glared at me as she walked away and Lucas came into the room but Noah kept the door
open.
I sat back down behind the desk while Lucas sat on the other side of the desk.
“Why are you here?”
“I’m guessing no one knows about last night.” Lucas said.
“No. I never told them. They don’t need to know.”
“I’d like to know.” Noah said, looking a little concerned. So I looked at Noah and took a deep
breath while trying to figure out what I was going to say.

“I snuck out last night to see him in the hospital. I took the dragonite with me and it helped
heal Lucas. He’s completely healed this morning because of it.” I explained.
“Why would you do that?” Noah asked.
“I’m sure you know why wolves go crazy on full moons.” I said.
Noah looked at me confused for a moment before he looked at Lucas and then back at me
again.
“Wait a minute. They only go crazy when they have been kept from their mate for too long.”
Noah said.
“Emma and I are mates.” Lucas said.
“You made a bet with your brother and broke her heart.” Noah growled.
“Which is why my wolf went crazy last night. Because Emma hasn’t wanted anything to do
with me since she found out.”
“I really don’t understand this.” Noah said.
“My mother is the Queen and she has three mates. Are you sure that you don’t understand?” I
asked. And he finally realized that he wasn’t the only one.
“Were you using me after you saw Lucas?” Noah asked.
“No. I definitely wasn’t using you. That was me accepting you as my mate. Because I don’t
know what to do about Lucas.” I explained, both of them looking at me strangely.
“What do you mean?” Noah asked.
“You’re not sure if you’re going to reject me.” Lucas guessed.
He was right. I didn’t know if I was going to keep him as a mate or not. I hated his brother and wanted nothing more to do with him. But I knew that Lucas and I were actually feeling
something for each other. Well, I was feeling something and after seeing the way he has been hanging around since I told them to go to hell, I’ve been thinking that he liked me more than just a stupid bet.
I mean, he’s my mate and he’s over 18. So he would have felt the bond straight away. It also explains why I felt so close to him at the beginning. I didn’t know that he was my mate the day
that I met him, but I did figure it out eventually.
“Wait a minute. What the hell happened last night?” Lucas asked, getting very serious.
“Would you like me to describe it in detail?” Noah asked with a smirk on his face.

“You don’t have to rub it in.” I said.
“That’s not what you said last night.” Noah said. So I picked up a stapler and threw it at him, but he caught it before it hit him in the head.
“I definitely wasn’t expecting that.” Lucas said.
“Why are you here?” I asked.
“After you helped me last night, I thought there might be a chance for us two. But now I’m not
so sure.” He said.
“Lucas. I haven’t made up my mind about you. And don’t think Noah has anything to do with
the decision. It’s mine and mine alone. If you guys don’t like the decisions that I make then it’s
up to you what you do. But I need to figure out what I want first.” I explained.
“I’m not going anywhere. No matter what. But I am never sharing a bed with him.” Noah said.
I knew that was going to be too easy. But I didn’t blame him for that.
Suddenly Anna came running in the office and stopped when she saw me in there with Lucas.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“I just overheard Camila on the phone.. Something is going down.” Anna said.
“Like what?” Noah asked.
“I don’t know. But someone is waiting for her signal. We have to get the princess out of here. I
think there’s going to be an attack.” Anna said, frantically.
