Chapter 23
“You’re insane! Absolutely out of
your
mind!”
For the first time, Selene felt that Lillian was not her daughter. The phrase “born wicked” flashed through her mind. At that moment, she finally made up her mind to sever all ties with Lillian. If she didn’t, she was sure Lillian would drag her into a living hell.
With this thought, Selene immediately called her lawyer to draft the documents to officially disown Lillian. Surprisingly, Lillian seemed unfazed by the decision. “You want to cut ties? Fine, but I want two–thirds of your estate.”
Selene understood why Lillian demanded two–thirds; she wanted to ensure that Selene couldn’t leave anything to Eleanor. But to rid herself of Lillian completely, Selene reluctantly agreed.
Once the transfer of assets was complete and both had signed the disownment papers, Lillian suddenly let out a sinister laugh. “Mom, you know the law doesn’t recognize disownment between direct relatives, right?”
“You shameless creature!” Unable to hold back, Selene slapped her hard across the face. “Whether I recognize you or not is for me to decide!”
At that moment, the prison doctor entered, handing Lillian her medical report. “Lillian, your results are in. You’ve contracted prion disease.”
“Prion disease?” Lillian’s malicious grin froze in place. “What do you mean? How could I have prion disease?”
The doctor, having overheard their earlier conversation, spoke candidly. “Prion disease is what happens when the same species consumes itself. Currently, we haven’t pinpointed the exact cause, but it could be related to the extensive bone marrow transplants you’ve undergone.”
“Let me explain further. Prion disease is incurable. Once infected, patients need to be isolated. They gradually become aggressive, lose mobility, and eventually turn into a shell of their former selves.”
“No, it can’t be true.” Lillian collapsed to the floor, terror written all over her face. Desperately, she crawled toward Selene on her knees. “Mom, I was wrong. I didn’t mean those things I said. I love you, I truly do! Please, help me. You can’t just abandon me; I’m your beloved daughter!”
Selene stepped back, avoiding Lillian’s grasp. Her gaze was filled with nothing but disgust and disdain. “Lillian, you may have come from my body, but I don’t acknowledge you as my daughter. You’re nothing but a monster!”
“If I could, I’d wish you were never born!”
“And you think I’d save you now? Dream on!”
“This is your own doing, your well–deserved fate!”
“Thank goodness, justice has finally been served! My Ellie can finally find peace after everything

she’s been through.”
“As for you, Lillian, even if you manage to get out, I’ll ensure you’re locked up in a private hospital. You’ll never harm anyone again! Consider the money you swindled from me as funds for your treatment or maybe for your funeral expenses!”
With those words, Selene turned on her heel and left, feeling a sense of relief. Behind her, Lillian’s terrified, desperate screams grew fainter until they vanished completely.
And with that, the video ended abruptly.
