Chapter 12
At that moment, a group of burly men suddenly surged forward and seized Lillian.
Lillian instinctively struggled, but then she heard Selene’s furious voice, “Lillian! How much longer are you going to keep up this madness?”
Selene’s eyes were sharp, her voice filled with disappointment and anger. She glanced at the men before giving a cold order:
“Take Miss Lillian to the car. I have questions for her!”
After issuing her command, Selene turned her gaze to the weakened Kane, hesitating for a moment before sighing, “If you want to know the truth about Ellie, you should come along too.”
Half an hour later, the atmosphere in the Yates Manor living room was suffocatingly tense.
The servant who had falsely accused Eleanor on the day of the birthday party was now trembling as they confessed everything. ·
“It was Miss Lillian who made me do it. She said if I didn’t, she would throw me out of the Yates
family and make it so that I couldn’t survive in all of Kingston.”
The servant’s voice was tearful, clearly terrified.
“On the day of the family photo, the clothes Miss Lillian prepared for Miss Eleanor were actually meant for me to wear while doing chores.”
“Miss Lillian even instructed me to only serve Miss Eleanor cold, leftover meals.”
“Miss Eleanor’s beloved toys were deliberately broken by Miss Lillian!”
“Furthermore, Miss Lillian has no interest in painting. She was just jealous that Miss Eleanor was chosen as the final apprentice of a renowned artist and wanted you to steal that opportunity for her.”
With each revelation, the color drained further from Selene and Kane’s faces. It was as if these words forced them to relive over twenty years of deceit and lies.
By the end, both were sitting on the sofa, utterly devastated, as though their very souls had been flayed.
The servant was now sobbing uncontrollably, bowing repeatedly in the direction of Eleanor’s former room.
“Miss Eleanor, I’m so sorry. You were a good person, and it is us who wronged you. We deserve punishment!”
Selene weakly waved her hand, and the servant retreated, still crying.
“Lillian!” Selene’s voice shook as she looked at her daughter, who now seemed like a stranger despite two decades of love.

“Why would you do such things? Ellie donated her bone marrow to you every month, even at the cost of her own life! How could you repay her kindness with such cruelty?”
Selene’s voice was filled with incomprehension and rage.
However, Lillian merely smiled languidly, indifferent.
“Everything the servant just said, Eleanor tried to explain to
you, but
you didn’t listen.”
“Your lack of trust in her led to her death. How is that my fault?”
“Lillian! You…”
Overwhelmed by shock and fury, Selene suddenly stood and slapped Lillian hard across the
face.
Lillian turned her head, blood trickling from her mouth, yet she only laughed mockingly.
“Oh? You regret driving Eleanor to her death and now want to take out your guilt on me? Think that will ease your conscience?”
“Go ahead, beat me to death! Maybe then you’ll try to remember the good in me or attempt to
memorialize me?”
“Humans, such hypocritical creatures!”
Lillian’s words were venomous, leaving Selene trembling with anger.
“You!”
Selene looked at Lillian as if seeing a demon.
She couldn’t believe this once innocent and obedient daughter could become someone so.
twisted.
“How did you become like this?”
Selene’s voice was laden with despair and pain. “Had I known you would turn out so vengeful, I would never have allowed my Ellie to give her life for you!”
Selene’s words made Lillian’s pupils contract sharply, and her response was even more
venomous.
“Now I’m despicable? Wasn’t I once your sweet, innocent daughter?”
“Eleanor was your obedient one, never fighting back, never talking back, yet she was falsely accused and no one listened to her explanations. She was driven to death by you!”
“Enough! Stop it!”
Selene was shaking with rage, nearly fainting from lack of air.
“Housekeeper!” Selene shouted hoarsely, “Lock this disgrace of a daughter upstairs! She is not to take a step out of her room!”

Chapter 12
Lillian was escorted upstairs and the door was locked from the outside.
However, Lillian immediately called the police, claiming she had been assaulted and
imprisoned by her family.
With the marks on her face and her confinement as evidence, she stirred chaos within the Yates. household.
Selene fell ill from the stress, bedridden and unable to care about Lillian any longer.
When the Quinn family heard of the situation, they were appalled by Lillian’s tarnished reputation. They swiftly canceled her engagement with Kane and severed all ties with the
Yates family.
