“Didn’t we ask Evan to dig into Landon More’s background? The results just came in we discovered by Grayson’s brother. They share the same mother”
I had braced myself for the possibility that Landon and Grayson were related, but I never imagined they’d be brothers

She had a point, but only Grayson could answer that question.
“Cassie, Grayson’s been away so often for business trips. We’ve only recently reconnected.”
There’s still so much about Grayson that remains a mystery to me. Still, it wouldn’t be fair to assume he’s untrustworthy
“Fair,” she murmured.
“I’ll ask him directly about Landon. You’re right, though.. Eight years apart changed us both so much. I proposed marriage on a whim, but the truth is, I don’t know everything about him–about who he truly is. That’s on me. But even so, I know we have something good between us.”
I must hold on to what I know is true about us.
“I’m just” Cassie trailed off, struggling to find the right words.
“I know you’re worried about me, but I promise, everything’s fine,” I said, trying to reassure her–and myself.
“But, babe, I don’t want another man taking advantage of you. What if your feelings for him are clouding your judgment” Her voice softened with concern.
“You know me better than anyone.” I murmured.
It seemed my best friend had cornered me about my true feelings for Grayson
“You know I love you. I didn’t come to Los Angeles just to watch you get hurt again”
Cassie’s words wrapped around my heart like a warm embrace.
We didn’t say much after that, but her voice echoed in my mind long after our conversation ended. By the time I wrapped up my business at the police station, it was already seven in the evening, and all I could think about was talking to Grayson.
Was he still at work?
I decided to surprise him at his office, heading straight there without a second thought. Never did I imagine the truth would slap me so quickly with what I would witness tonight.

I didn’t think twice. I bolted toward the elevator that was still waiting on the floor.
“Bella!” Grayson’s voice called out, panic in his tone. “Shit!”
I repeatedly hit the close button, desperate to escape his gaze. Panicked, I rushed out of the building and made my way down to the ground level.
I was still reeling from what I’d just seen. Where was my car?
But then, I decided to leave it behind and hail a cab instead.
My mind raced, unaware of the danger nearby. I stepped into the street, lost in a swirl of confusion.
An engine roared.
“Die!” A woman’s scream pierced the night as headlights rushed toward me.
Before it could hit me, someone yanked me into his arms.
The car crashed into the curb, and Grayson’s security team converged on the vehicle like wolves.
