(Celeste’s POV)
Rage consumed me as I stormed through the Winter Pack house. My grandmother, the only person who had consistently loved me, was dying because of Scarlett’s manipulations.
My blood boiled with each step I took toward the Silver Moon Wing. I could feel my silver–scarred wolf surging beneath my skin, demanding retribution. For once, I didn’t fight the transformation.
My claws extended, sharp and deadly. My teeth elongated into fangs that could tear through flesh with ease. The partial shift came naturally, fueled by a fury I had never experienced before.
I reached Scarlett’s private quarters and didn’t bother knocking. With one powerful kick, I splintered the ornate wooden door, sending fragments flying across the entrance hall.
The beta wolf guards inside jumped to attention, their eyes widening at my partially shifted form. I must have been a terrifying sight – platinum hair wild around my face, violet eyes blazing with murderous intent, silver claws gleaming in the light.
“Miss Celeste,” one brave beta called out, positioning himself between me and the inner chamber. “Please wait for Alpha James to return. This isn’t-”
I didn’t let him finish. With a growl that rumbled from deep in my chest, I slashed across his arm, drawing blood. He stumbled back with a cry of pain.
“Get out of my way,” I snarled, my voice distorted by my partial transformation. “Where is she? Where is Scarlett?”
Another beta stepped forward, hands raised placatingly. “Miss Celeste, please reconsider. The Alpha will-”
Again, I didn’t allow him to complete his sentence. My claws raked across his chest, leaving four parallel lines of crimson that quickly soaked through his shirt. He fell to his knees, clutching his wound.
The remaining guards scattered, their wolves whining submissively. They pressed themselves against the walls, unwilling to challenge me but duty–bound to remain at their posts.
“Scarlett!” I roared, stalking toward her bedroom. “Face me, you coward!”

The attendants outside her chamber cowered as I approached. They had the sense to step aside rather than obstruct my path. Smart.
I didn’t slow down as I reached her bedroom doors. My claws left deep gouges in the wood as I threw them open with such force that they slammed against the inner walls.
Scarlett was sitting at her vanity, brushing her auburn hair. At my violent entrance, she jumped up, knocking over her chair. She stumbled backward, her emerald eyes wide with genuine
terror.
“C–Celeste?” she stammered, her face paling as she took in my partially transformed state
and the blood dripping from my claws. “What are you-”
“You know exactly why I’m here,” I growled, advancing on her like a predator stalking wounded
prey. “Grandmother is dying because of you.”
Scarlett stumbled over her own feet in her haste to retreat, falling to the floor with a thud.
Instead of rising, she began crawling toward me on her hands and knees, her emerald eyes filling with tears.
“Please,” she begged, her voice breaking. “I didn’t mean for Eleanor to be harmed. I only did it
because I was worried about you and father.”
A bitter laugh escaped my lips. “Still lying, even now?”
“It’s true!” she whimpered, her wolf submitting instinctively to my dominant rage. “I heard you
were going to leave the pack. I thought if Eleanor knew, she might talk some sense into you. I
never intended-”
“Silence!” I roared, the word echoing off the walls.
My silver–scarred wolf howled for blood. This wasn’t the first time Scarlett had played innocent
while orchestrating my suffering. She had broken the Alpha King’s daughter’s sacred moon
crystal and let me take the blame. She had manipulated situations countless times to make
me appear unstable or dangerous.
And now, her actions had endangered the one person who had stood by me through everything – my grandmother Eleanor, whose health was already so fragile.
Scarlett must have seen the decision in my eyes because she began sobbing uncontrollably, her entire body shaking with fear.
“Please, sister,” she cried, using the familial term she knew might reach me. “I’m sorry. I truly am. I’ll make it right, I swear it.”

Her pitiful pleas only intensified my fury. How many times had I heard these same empty
promises? How many times had she “apologized” only to scheme against me again when my
back was turned?
My silver–scarred wolf surged forward, taking more control. With a flash of silver claws, I
slashed Scarlett’s arms as she tried to shield herself.
She screamed in pain, ribbons of red appearing on her pale skin. Blood dripped onto her
expensive nightgown, staining the white fabric.
“That’s for my grandmother,” I growled, advancing again.
Scarlett scrambled backward, leaving a trail of blood on the polished floor. Her face had gone
ashen, her emerald eyes wide with the realization that I truly meant to harm her.
“Help!” she screamed. “Lucas! Father! Help me!”
I continued my merciless approach, my silver claws flexing in anticipation. “No one can save
you now.”
Just as I was about to strike again, the door burst open behind me. I sensed rather than saw
Lucas enter, his golden wolf radiating protective energy.
“Celeste, stop!” he shouted.
I ignored him, focused entirely on Scarlett’s trembling form.
Lucas didn’t hesitate. He knocked me aside with his shoulder, sending me stumbling into
Scarlett’s vanity. The mirror shattered as I collided with it, shards of glass raining down
around me.
In his haste to reach Scarlett, Lucas accidentally deepened the wounds on her chest, his grip too tight in his panic. She cried out in pain as he scooped her into his arms.
“I’m getting you out of here,” he told her, turning toward the door.
My silver–scarred wolf refused to let our prey escape. I leapt to my feet, glass crunching
beneath my shoes, and lunged after them.
“You won’t take her from me!” I snarled, my claws extending further.
Lucas ran with Scarlett clutched to his chest, but I was faster in my partially shifted state. I
caught up to them in the corridor, my claws slashing across Lucas’s back.
He howled in pain, his legs buckling beneath him. He collapsed to the floor with Scarlett still in his arms, both of them falling with a heavy thud.

I paused, my violet eyes meeting his golden ones. There had been a time when Lucas and I were inseparable, when he was my beloved brother and protector. That bond had shattered the day Scarlett returned, but some small part of me still remembered it.
Yet the memory wasn’t enough to stay my hand. My silver–scarred wolf howled for Scarlett’s
blood, and I raised my claws, aiming for her throat.
Lucas’s eyes widened as he realized I was truly capable of such violence, that I would strike
through him to reach my target. His wolf whined with the realization that his former sister was
lost to him, replaced by this vengeful creature.
My claws were descending when the door burst open once more.
“Miss Celeste!” Nina’s voice cut through my haze of fury. She stood in the doorway, breathing hard from her sprint through the pack house. “Your grandmother is awake! She’s calling for
you!*
Those words penetrated my rage where nothing else could. Grandmother. Awake.
I felt my features shift back to human form, my extended claws retracting. The red haze faded from my vision, replaced by sudden clarity.
Without another word, I turned away from the bloody scene I had created and rushed toward
my grandmother’s side, leaving behind a room filled with blood and fear.
