Chapter 141: A Bitter Rejection

Chapter 141: A Bitter Rejection

(Celeste’s POV

The table was a mockery of the pasta shrine dedicated to memories long since buried. Plates adorned with moonblessed venison and silverdusted pastries, the delicate aromas mingling in a suffocating display. Everything so meticulously planned, as if it could erase the four years of betrayal that burned in my veins

I couldn’t bear it

With one sharp motion, I grabbed the edge of the table, channeling all my wolfdriven strength

The crash was deafening. Plates shattered, glass goblets splintered into shards that scattered across the room. Delicate dishes tumbled helplessly to the floor, their pristine presentation erased in an instant. The radiant silver centerpiece rolled unceremoniously away, petals crushed under the fallen debris

Scarlett’s shriek echoed through the chamber as she jumped back, her emerald dress splattered with remnants of the meal she’d tried so hard to impress me with

Celeste!Lucas roared, his deep voice reverberating with a primal fury that seemed to fill the

entire room

I turned sharply to face him. His golden eyes burned with anger, his wolf barely contained beneath the surface. Each of his movements radiated tension, his claws itching to unleash the aggression simmering inside him

But before Lucas could take a step closer, a silvergrey blur moved between us

Nina

Her wolf’s protective energy filled the room instantly. She stood tall, barely half of Lucas’s size, but her stance more resolute than ever. Her silvergrey wolf bristled defensively, and her piercing grey eyes locked onto Lucas without fear

Future Alpha,” Nina said sharply, her tone firm and borderline challenging. “This is Miss Celeste’s private quarters.”

Her voice cut through the tension like a dagger

Whatever anger you’re feeling, it doesn’t give you the right to act recklessly here, she said, her

words deliberate as her gaze stayed unwavering

Lucas’s wolf visibly bristled at the boldness of her words. His golden eyes narrowed, and a low growl rumbled deep in his chest. His claws extended slightly, glinting in the light of the moonblessed lanterns hanging above

You dare challenge me, a mere guard?Lucas growled lowly, his voice laced with menace

Nina didn’t flinch

Her wolf’s protective energy only grew stronger as she stood firm. “I am guarding what has been assigned to me,she responded, her voice unwavering. Respect matters, Future Alpha

Even for someone in your position.”

The air snapped with tension, Lucas’s wolf pulsating dominance in an effort to subdue her

But Nina, to her credit, didn’t falter

Get out,” Lucas snarled finally, his words guttural. Leave, or I’ll make you regret it.”

A flicker of concern crossed Nina’s otherwise calm face. My heart sank slightly; Lucas’s wolf

was dangerously close to losing control

I stepped forward, laying a calming hand on Nina’s shoulder

Wait outside,” I said softly but firmly

Nina’s silvergrey wolf whined softly in protest, hesitating for only a moment before meeting

my gaze. I could feel her inner turmoilher instincts screamed against her leaving me

unprotected

Still, she listened

Nina nodded reluctantly, finally retreating toward the doorway. Before leaving, she shot a stern

look to the guards stationed in the corridor

Ensure no disturbances,” she instructed them firmly

I knew she wouldn’t go far. Nina wouldn’t truly leave me vulnerable, not after years of loyalty

She would likely inform Eleanor within minutes

And I needed Eleanor. More than ever now

As soon as Nina was gone, the tension in the room only thickened. Lucas’s golden eyes

locked back onto mine, burning with an intensity that seemed ready to ignite

Scarlett, still cowering beside the ruined remains of the table, let out a soft, pitiful whimper.

Sistershe whispered, her voice trembling as tears filled her emerald eyes. Why would you

do this? Her hands moved timidly across the floor, brushing against the shattered pieces of

glass and ceramic as though trying to salvage what was gone

Why are you so angry?she continued weakly, her voice cracking with the practiced cadence of someone performing a tragic act for an audience

I laughed bitterly

The laugh was sharp and hollow, filled not with humor but with the weight of years of pain and betrayal. It echoed dully against the walls of the room, cutting through Scarlett’s pitiful

whimpers

Angry?I repeated mockingly, tilting my head as if to consider the word

I took a deliberate step toward Scarlett. Her wolf flinched visibly, shrinking low beneath my

gaze

You call this reconciliation?I gestured broadly at the mess on the floor, shards of broken glass mixing with food that I once cherished but now found repulsive

You think a few fancy plates can erase what you’ve done? The betrayal?I said, each word carefully measured, hitting her like blows Sasha couldn’t dodge

Scarlett’s lips parted as if to defend herself, but no words came

Four years,I continued coldly, my voice steady but biting. Do you remember what happened

four years ago, Scarlett? What you did?”

Tears spilled freely down her face now, but I didn’t stop

Do you remember how you watched me walk away? Into Moon Shadow Prison? Do you remember how you turned your back while silver chains scarred me every day for four years?”

Scarlett’s sobbing increased, her hands trembling against her knees as her wolf waved a pathetic white flag of submission

You called me sister,I spat, the venom in my voice making her recoil. A sister wouldn’t push her blood into Marcus Blackwood’s torture den knowing what he’s capable of. A sister

wouldn’t let Grace mock me, undermine me, humiliate me at every opportunity.”

My words rang clear through the heavy silence..

Scarlett whimpered, her wolf visibly curling tighter against the invisible weight of my

accusations

Chapter 141: A Bitter Rejection

Lucas stepped forward now, clearly agitated by Scarlett’s breakdown

You’ve made your point,” Lucas growled, his tone low and threatening. Enough!”

I snapped my gaze toward him, furious

Enough?I echoed icily. Don’t you dare tell me when it’s enough, Lucas.”

His claws extended fully now, his wolf visibly struggling to remain in control. Celeste,he growled, his voice deep and guttural. If you can’t accept peace today, what else do you want?”

Peace?I said incredulously, laughing bitterly once again. You think you can offer me peace.

after everything?”

Lucas clenched his fists tightly, his golden eyes flashing dangerously

You’ve wasted your trip,” I declared coldly, stepping closer to him despite the simmering rage

his wolf was emanating

Future Alpha or not,I continued. Get out.”

Lucas’s jaw tightened visibly. For a moment, I thought he might actually strike something. But instead, he turned abruptly and walked over to the tablewreck

He reached down and picked up the one unbroken item left: a bottle of moonblessed wine

Despite the ruins around it, the bottle remained intact. Lucas clutched it tightly, his grip betraying the anger he struggled to keep bottled inside

The silence that filled the room was thick, tense, and strained to the breaking point as we all

stood unmoving. My silverscarred wolf bristled slightly, its rage licking at the edges of my

composure
