Chapter 71: Time To End This
Zander
I have never been so happy to see Brady. He looks beaten up, but he is alive. “How did you get away?” Martha asks, still pointing her gun at me. “You may be my blood, but the brother I chose taught me well. Now, drop your weapon, or I blow her brains out,” Brady says and Keira
screams.
“Mommy, please help me. He’s gone crazy,” Keira yells through her tears. “It’s okay, my baby, he won’t hurt you. We don’t hurt our family,” Martha says, glaring at Brady. “Your mother is right, family first. Zander is my family, and I won’t allow you to hurt him,” Brady says, taking
the safety off his gun.
“Don’t you dare hurt my daughter Bradley. Think about what you are throwing away. What will your father say?” “My name is Brady and my father doesn’t love me; I am just someone he can use. I see that now. You are all the same. My true family don’t ask me for anything, and they
would never ask me to kill for them.
I was so blinded by the need for my father’s approval, that I didn’t see the ones who really love me,” Brady says, and I can’t help but smile at him. “Behind you!” I yell when I see someone coming up behind him. Then everything happens so fast. The guy tries to attack him, and
Martha turns her weapon on him.
I lunged forward and wrestled her to the ground and her gun went flying. I heard a gunshot go off and saw that the guy that was standing behind me shot Brady. He falls to the floor and Keira screams and runs our way. Martha uses that moment of distraction to kick me and try
to move away.
Everything is so chaotic, but my focus is on Martha. Ricardo takes out the guy that shot Brady and I manage to get hold of Martha again. I grab her and hold her hands roughly behind her back, while she kicks and screams. Chris, Perez and his men are all inside now, taking out the
other men.
One of the mercenaries shoots me in my arm, but I never let go of Martha. I move her in front of me as a shield. Then I hear Keira scream, “Let go of my mother, Zander!” She has a gun, and she is pointing it right at me. “Put the gun down Keira, or I will snap your mother’s neck,” I say, and she screams at the top of her lungs. She fires a warning shot at my feet, but I dodge,
taking her mother with me.
“Why would you choose her over me?” “Who? Liz?” I ask because God knows what she is on

about. “Yes, that b***h. We could’ve been so happy together.” “No, we wouldn’t. I don’t want you, not now, not ever. Put the gun down, this is your last chance to get out of this alive,” I say
and she shakes her head.
“I see now that you won’t love me. For that alone, you will pay,” she says and aims her gun at my head. Then everything moves like it’s in slow motion. I saw a knife fly towards Keira. The knife knocks the gun out of her hand and cuts her fingers in the process.
She turns in the direction of the closet door and her eyes widen. Another knife lands directly in
her stomach. She clutches her stomach and pulls the knife out. They look like kitchen knives.
What the hell? Chris grabs her and cuffs her and Perez comes to my side, and he is about to
take Martha, but she moves too fast and grabs his gun.
She aims it at him and I bend down and grab the gun in my sock. I took off the safety, and
aimed it at her, and let out two shots. Her eyes widen as she turns and looks at me, before she
falls down and blood starts flowing out of the two gunshot wounds. I fell to my knees and dropped the gun, as I watched her close her eyes and take her last breath.
Liz peaks out of the closet and when she sees me, she runs to me. She goes down on her
knees and throws her arms around my neck. I hold her tightly and inhale her hair. She always
smells so delicious. “Please tell me it’s over,” she whispers in my ear. “I think it is,” I answered, looking around.
The FBI are handcuffing Martha’s men who are still alive, but most of them lie dead in pools of
blood. “Are you okay?” “I am fine, I just freaked out when I saw Keira wanting to kill you,” she
answers and I let out a breath of relief. But then I remembered something and I looked down
at her with a smirk.
“Did you throw those knives?” “I told you I had a perfect aim. That’s why I always kick your ass
in darts,” she answers, and I can’t help but chuckle. In all this insanity, she managed to make
me laugh. “I love you,” I whispered, cupping her face. “We love you more,” I smiled and put my hand on her belly.
Thank God they are both safe. I kiss her forehead, before I get up and help her up. “Oh my God,
your arm!” Liz yells when she sees my bleeding arm. It doesn’t hurt yet, the pain is
manageable. It just burns. I am sure it will hurt like a b***h once the adrenaline wears off.
“I’m fine, let’s go check on Brady and Toby.” I answered and put my hand over the wound to stop the bleeding. She tears the bottom of her t–shirt off and wraps it around my arm, and I smile. “Thank you my Liz,” “We need to get you to the hospital, but let’s go check on our family first,” she answers, and I smile and nod. Yes, family… our family. It’s those bonds that saved

the day.
Toby is still unconscious, but Chris is holding him while we wait for the ambulances to arrive.
Brady is in bad shape. He is bleeding from a wound in his chest and coughing up blood, while
Ricardo tries to stop the bleeding. I go down on my knees and take his hand.
“Thank you, brother,” I say, and he smiles through his pain. “I will always choose my family. If I
make it through this, I will explain everything. I never meant…” he answers and starts
coughing again. “It’s okay, don’t talk. You can grovel when you are better. You have a lot to make up for,” I say, and Ricardo chuckles.
“I am sorry Zander, I didn’t have anything to do with your parents‘ death.” He grits out again,
but I quiet him. “We can talk later,” I say just as the paramedics burst through the door. They
rush towards us, so we move to give them space. One of the paramedics came over to check
on me and I see they are helping Toby too, who still hasn’t opened his eyes.
We are all carted away to the hospital and Liz comes with us. I insisted that they check her
over and check on the baby. It seems the bullet is still stuck in my arm, so they have to
remove it. Brady is in bad shape. He lost consciousness while we were on our way to the
hospital.
He lost a lot of blood, and they needed to operate on him. I was given God knows what,
because when I opened my eyes again, my arm was bandaged. I was lying in a hospital bed,
while Liz held my hand. Her head was on my bed while she was sitting in a chair. This looks
like a very uncomfortable way to sit.
My arm doesn’t burn anymore, I just feel a dull pain now. Judging by the sight of me, they have
already seen to my wound. I can’t believe I slept through it all, they must’ve given me
something strong. I was so out of it anyway. Maybe I was just too tired. I lifted my hand and
moved her hair out of her face.
She starts to stir and scrunches her nose and I can’t help but smile. She always looks so cute
when she does that. I stroke her cheek, and she opens her eyes and smiles at me. “Zander,”
she whispers and sits up. She cups my face and kisses my lips softly.
“I was so worried. Are you okay? Should I get the doctor?” she asks, concern evident on her
face, but I just smile and kiss her again. “I am fine. Did they check you and the baby?” I asked.
“We are both okay, but I was told to make sure that I removed myself from stressful situations. That shouldn’t be a problem anymore, so we will be just perfect,” she answers.
“Good, I am glad you and the baby are both okay. Is Martha really dead?” I ask, because I’m
really not sure. “She is, and only a few of her hired men survived. Keira’s wound was treated,

and she is currently in jail, with the rest of Martha’s men.
Ricardo called Rosa to let her know it’s over. So she and Dom are catching the next flight
back. She doesn’t know about the baby yet, so I want to surprise her.” Liz says and I smile.”
She is going to freak out,” I say and Liz chuckles and agrees. “Oh, and Rebel came by to check
on her. His mother managed to convince him to come to the hospital.
He is really stubborn, but he seems like a cool guy. They removed the bullet, and he is still
here, but he keeps trying to leave. His mom is on her way with Trish to keep him put. I assume
Trish is his ‘old lady‘?” “Yes, they have been married for five years now,” I say.
“His mother sounds like a no–nonsense kind of woman. She called your phone, so I answered,
and I mentioned Rebel was here. You should’ve seen his face when she yelled at him over the
phone. It was so funny to see a grown man afraid of his mother. Oh, and apparently both her
and Rebel already knew exactly who I was.
He said you have been pining for me for years. And that you wouldn’t even look at any of the
club bunnies he offered you as p*****t for helping his mother.” Liz says, and I burst out
laughing, but stop immediately and wince. That b***h actually kicked me hard in my stomach.
“I am glad he is okay. And yes, I declined all the ‘club bunnies‘ as he calls them. I did tell him
that
my heart belongs to one woman. And if I couldn’t have her, I would die alone,” I say, and
she chuckles. “Did you really say that?” “Not in so many words, but that’s what I meant,” I say, and she giggles and kisses me again.
“You really are a silly man,” she says, shaking her head. A silly man who is very lucky to be here with her. If things had gone wrong, I would never get to see her beautiful face again. Thank God Brady realized the truth in time.
