Chapter 66: New Plans And First Check–up

I am going to be a father. I look down at Liz’s sleeping form and I can’t stop smiling. This
beautiful woman is making all my dreams come true. I need to make sure that Liz and the baby are safe.
I hold her closely, and wait until she is fast asleep, before I move her. I got up and grabbed my phone and walked over to the balcony. I don’t want to bother her, but I need to speak to Chris and Ricardo. I call Ricardo first and he answers immediately. “Meet me in your office,” he says.
when he answers. “Okay,” I replied and hung up.
I put on a pair of sweatpants and a t–shirt and walked over to the bed. I bent down and kissed
Liz softly, before I headed to my office. Ricardo is already waiting for me outside the door. We
go in, and he turns and looks at me. “She is pregnant, isn’t she?” he asks, and I am sure my answering grin is all the confirmation he needs.
“Congratulations man,” he says and pulls me in for a hug. “Thanks man, I can’t even explain
how happy I feel right now. But at the same time, I have never been more afraid. I can’t let
Martha hurt them, I won’t survive it,” I say, and he nods and gives me a somber smile.
“We will have to rethink our plan now. We can’t risk Liz and the baby,” Ricardo says. “That’s
why I wanted to speak to you. Let me call Chris too.” I said and took out my phone and dialed
his number and put my phone on speaker. He answers after two rings, and he sounds wide
awake.
“Hey Zander, what’s up?” he asks. “I hope I didn’t wake Toby,” I say with a smirk. “Did you call
to piss me off? And Toby doesn’t sleep in my room. I haven’t told him anything yet,” Chris says
and I chuckle. “At this rate, my son or daughter will be five, and you still wouldn’t have made a
move,” I say, and Ricardo chuckles.
“What are you on about?” he asked me. “Liz is pregnant,” I said. “Wow dude, congratulations.
But…” he says and trails off. “Exactly, that’s why we are having this conversation. We need to
rethink our plan. I won’t risk her or the baby. No matter how much she thinks she can do this,”
I say.
“I don’t think we should let anyone know just yet, especially Brady. He will tell Martha, and she
will see this as the best way to get to Zander, Ricardo says. “I hear you, but we can spin this
to work in our favor.” Chris answers. “I won’t risk her safety,” I say.

“Neither will I; one will. I have a better idea, and we just need some help pulling it off. No. danger to Liz or the baby, I promise.” “Go ahead, I am listening,” I say, and listen to his plan. That is actually brilliant, but it also means someone else will be in danger. I f*****g hate Martha and her whole f****d up family,” I say when he is done explaining.
“The FBI confirmed that most of their other family members are incarcerated already. Horis has a daughter, but she doesn’t know about his existence. Then the only other family member
is their grandmother, but she is in a nursing home. She suffers from dementia, and it’s already
in its late stages.
Once we get Martha, Keira and Brady off the streets, you and Liz will be safe. There will be no
one left to retaliate and carry old senseless grudges,” Chris says. I am so grateful for that. At
least this vendetta could end with Martha. “Tomorrow you go see Wayne, while Brady is gone.
We will share the news and see what he does,” Chris says, and I look at Ricardo and he nods.
“Okay, but the minute I sense any danger to her or the baby, I am pulling the plug. I will kill him
if he tries to harm her,” I say. “I think all of us will do the same. He doesn’t realize that the
family he had with us would have made him happier than someone else’s vendetta,” Ricardo
says.
“I agree, we all accepted him as a brother. I wonder if it was all an act,” Chris says with a sigh.
“I have been wondering that too,” I say. “I did wonder if we told him the truth and gave him the
option to choose, if he would side with us. But then at the same time, I don’t know if I can ever
trust him again,” Ricardo says.
I know this hurts him the most. Brady stayed with Ricardo’s family when he had nowhere to
- go. They treat him like their blood. Now I wonder if he was ever really stranded, or if it was all
part of the con. But Ricardo is right, even if he chooses to help us, I can never trust him again.
I don’t even know his role in my parents‘ death yet.
We finish up our impromptu meeting, and Ricardo and I head to our rooms. I messaged Wayne
to let him know we were coming to see him while I was walking. Liz is still fast asleep when I get to the room, looking like an angel. An angel that has taken over my side, I must add. I can’t
help but chuckle at the sight of her, sprawled out over most of the bed. God, I love this woman.
I move her over a little and get into bed next to her. She immediately snuggles into me and I
smile. I pulled her into my arms and kissed the top of her head. Then I close my eyes and try
to get some sleep.
When I open my eyes, I see it’s already morning. Liz is still fast asleep, and I really don’t have
the heart to wake her. I move away slowly, so I don’t wake her. I grab a quick shower and when

I come back into the room, she is still asleep. I go downstairs to get some breakfast for us, so
I can surprise her with breakfast in bed.
When I have the tray of food, I head back to my room. She will have to cut back on coffee now
too, and I know she won’t be happy about that. She starts to stir while I am setting the food
- She opens her eyes and looks at me and smiles. “Morning handsome,” she says, and I
smile.
“Morning yourself beautiful. Did you get enough sleep?” I ask and she nods and sits up. “། brought you breakfast,” I say, and put the tray in front of her and she smiles. “Thank you, that is so sweet. But can I freshen up first?” she asks, and I nod and move the tray so she can get
- up.
I help her into her bathrobe, and she goes to do her morning routine. When she comes back
out, she gets back into bed and I hand her the food. “Wow, I actually am hungry and this looks
delicious,” she says, making me feel proud of my achievement. I will make sure that she is
looked after and pampered.
We enjoy breakfast in bed, and she looks so carefree and happy while we chat about our plans for the baby. I want that smile to stay on her face, but first, we need to eliminate our enemies. I
never thought that I would ever have enemies, business rivals, yes. But not people that
actually want me dead. That was not on my radar.
She ate quite a bit, before she went to grab a shower. When she is ready, we go downstairs and get Ricardo. He is taking us to the hospital, with two of his men following us. I also called
agent Perez to tell him, and he agreed to keep it quiet and to abandon the other plan. He is
also not willing to risk Liz and the baby.
We are really blessed to be surrounded by so many people that care. That is why I am so hurt by Brady’s betrayal. But I need to get that off my mind and focus on keeping my little family
safe. I can’t let the friendship we had, cloud my judgment. He willingly chose to betray me, so
he will pay.
When we reached Dr. Willis’s office, he welcomes us in with a big smile. “Congratulations son,”
he says and gives me a hug. He hugs Liz next and shows her to have a seat. “I am not an
obstetrician, but I can confirm the pregnancy and refer you to the best obgyn I know. Her name
is Cynthia Nox and I have already told her to expect your call.” Dr. Willis says and I smile and
thank him.
After he asks Liz a few questions, he gives her a cup to pee in. I try to get up, but she stops
- me. “Not this time, buddy,” she says and Wayne chuckles. “Fine,” I grumble. A few minutes

later she comes out with urine and hands it to Wayne. She gives me a wink before she sits
down, and I chuckle and take her hand in mine.
He uses a strip and after a few minutes he looks up at us and smiles. “You are definitely pregnant. Judging by what you said, you may be between 10 and 12 weeks. The ultrasound will confirm it for us,” he says, and gets up and shows Liz to lay down on the bed.
He wheels a machine over and explains what he is going to do. I am so excited, and judging by Liz’s expression, so is she. He puts the gel on her belly and starts moving the doppler. We just watch him do his thing, while he measures and clicks and makes notes.
The suspense is killing me and I really want to know if everything is okay. I was just about to ask him, when he turned to look at us. He turns the screen and we both look at it. “Would you like to hear your baby’s heartbeat?” he asks and we both say ‘yes‘ at the same time and he
laughs.
He presses a button, and then he presses down on the doppler he has on Liz’s tummy. I can see it’s uncomfortable for her, but she doesn’t complain. I hear a faint heartbeat and I smile. It gets louder, and my smile gets wider and so does Liz’s. He shows us to look at the screen and
I watch in awe as he points out the head and body.
“That little peanut is your baby. The growth rate seems good, and the heartbeat is steady. I can’t see the gender yet though. When the baby moves a bit more, we will be able to see. The baby is a little shy today and won’t open its legs,” Wayne says, and we both chuckle. This is so amazing, that little peanut is our baby. I can tell he is going to be big and strong.
You can already see his body forming. I hope it’s a boy, but I will be just as happy with a little princess that looks like Liz. He prints out two pictures for us, while I help Liz clean up.

#Vote# The update fairy did listen to Leslie, so enjoy the double dose. A twist in their plans is happening tomorrow, that will bring them closer to catching Martha. We need to keep mini–me safe.
