Chapter 69: Martha Goes Hunting
Zander
I got into the tub with Liz and explained what happened. She agreed for us to sleep in the panic room tonight, just to be safe. By the time we got out of the tub, I still hadn’t heard back from Chris. So, Liz and I said goodbye to the staff and Robyn, who was a bit harder to
convince.
She didn’t want to leave Liz, but we eventually got her to go with Ricardo. When they were all gone, Liz and I headed to the panic room, to settle in for the night. I called Chris for an update, and he had nothing to share yet. Agent Perez is also helping track Brady, so I hope he will be
okay.
Liz and I decided to watch a movie, but she fell asleep halfway through it. By that time,
Ricardo was on his way back here. He left a few of his men to help the agents on duty. I am
just glad that the staff and Robyn are safe and away from here. I held Liz closely and closed my eyes and tried to sleep.
I am awoken by my phone, and see it’s Rebel calling, and it’s already after 1am. “Zander, that
crazy b***h, called me. She wanted to make sure that the plan was still on, and set for 6pm.” ”
That’s good, it’s better that we know what’s going on. I was worried that Brady messed up the
plan,” I say.
“Si, but Zander, I think she has your man. Martha mentioned that she found a traitor in her
midst, but she handled it. She said that we are still on, and that she can’t wait to see you beg
for your life,” he says. “s**t, I will let the team know. Thanks man,” I say, and he says goodbye
and hangs up.
I text Ricardo and Chris to fill them in, and Chris replies immediately to say that Brady’s car
was found abandoned. There was no sign of him, but there were signs of a struggle. So they
are canvassing the area looking for him. Damn it, I feel like that talk with him just f****d
everything up.
I try to fall back asleep, but my mind is a mess. Did I send him to his death? I shouldn’t care because he betrayed me, but yet I am worried about him. I feel so confused and conflicted.
And I know that deep down, I do care. I hope he is okay and that he had nothing to do with my
parents‘ death.
I must’ve dozed off again, because this time, I jolted awake when I heard my phone. I look at
the screen, but it’s a number I don’t know. The area code shows that it’s in this vicinity.”

Zander Caine,” I say when I answer. “Zander! Get Liz and go to the panic room now! I don’t have much time. I hope to get the chance to explain, but you need to hurry. Martha is coming!” Brady yells into the phone.
He is out of breath, and it sounds like he is running. I also hear shouting and glass breaking in the background. “Where are you? Let us help you,” I ask now, wide awake. “I am in your …” he
says before the line cuts. “Brady!” I yell, but the line is completely dead.
I jump up and see that Liz is also awake. “What’s going on, Zander? Is he okay?” she asks. “I
don’t know, he said Martha is on her way.” I said, and I was about to call Chris and Ricardo,
when I saw a text message from Rebel. ‘Can’t call, Martha showed up at the clubhouse and
demanded we leave now. We are coming to you. Be ready.
Damn it! Thank f**k we are in here and the staff are all gone. I immediately called Chris and
added Ricardo and Perez to the call. “Change of plans. Martha is on her way with the bikers.
But thankfully, Liz and I are already in the panic room. Brady also called from an unknown
number to warn me. He sounds like he is in trouble,” I say, and then it’s a flurry of voices and
everyone is now wide awake.
Liz is getting dressed and so am I. When I end the call, I pull her into my arms and hold her. We will be okay,” I whisper. “But what about the others?” “I don’t know what will happen, but your safety and our baby’s, is my main concern.” I answer, and she nods and rests her head on
my chest.
“Jojo, we will be under attack soon. Don’t send out an alert, but implement complete lockdown and offensive protocol.” “Lockdown will be implemented in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Complete lockdown is in effect. No one will get in, even if they are on my system. Only Zander Caine and Liz Caine
can open this door.” Jojo answers.
“Liz Caine, ha?” Liz asks, and I have to chuckle. “It’s going to happen anyway. But yeah,
wishful thinking on my part.” “It sounds perfect,” she answers, smiling. I led her over to the bed, and we sat down and watched the monitors. Hopefully she will fall asleep again, but I
doubt it. We are both too worried.
Chris
After Zander called, I immediately got dressed. I went to Toby’s room and peeked in. He was still fast asleep, and he looked so damn cute. I am such an i***t, I should’ve just told him how I feel already.
The minute this is all over, I will confess and hope he accepts me. I closed his door softly after I left the note for him. I put the alarm on and locked up, before I left my house. Agent Perez is

already outside waiting for me. “Are your men on standby?” I ask.
“Yes, as soon as the bikers leave, they will come. I don’t like this, Chris, not one bit,” Alvaro
says and I nod. “Me too, but we have to make the most of it.” I answer and he sighs and nods. One of the agents gets out, and stations himself at my door and I handed him the keys and
the alarm code. He will stay to guard Toby.
We head to Zander’s parents‘ place and only Alvaro and I will go in. As much as Alvaro trusts
Rebel to come through, some of his men are not trustworthy. They would never harm Zander
or Liz, but they hate anyone in law enforcement. Ricardo sends me a message to say that he
and his men are in place, but they can hear motorcycles approaching.
“We have to hurry, they are nearly there,” I tell Alvaro, and he speeds up. By the time we
reached Zander’s road, it was already blocked off by several men on bikes. I get out of the car,
and they eye me wearily, with their guns drawn. “Chris and Alvaro, let us through,” I say with
my hands up in surrender.
They nod at each other and drop their weapons. “Leave the car, you will have to go on foot.”
The larger guy says in a deep voice. I nod and get my weapons from the car and put on my
bulletproof vest, while Alvaro does the same. “Ready Perez?” I ask, and he nods, and we take
off on foot, sticking to the shadows.
We reach the house and it looks chaotic. There are bikes parked everywhere and men
stationed all around. Then I see her, that b***h Martha. Alvaro shows me that he is going
around to try and take a shot at her, so I watch his back. It’s almost like that b***h has f*****g
eyes at the back of her head. She looks around and dips inside, before Alvaro can take the
shot.
I sent a quick text to Zander, to let him know we were here, and he needed to let Rebel know it’s a go. He replies immediately with a thumbs up. We wait for word while we watched the
house. I note that there are other men there as well that aren’t part of the Chopper Demons.
My phone beeps in my pocket and it’s Zander. ‘Get ready,’ is all he says, and I show Alvaro and he nods. I hear fighting and chaos inside, before all hell breaks loose and gunshots can be
heard. I pull up the security footage and see Rebel’s men are fighting the other guys.
Then I see Martha shoot Rebel, and he goes down. f**k! “We have to get in there,” I say,
showing Alvaro the footage. The door opens and Rebel’s men run out. Two of them are
carrying him and the others are firing their weapons. Alvaro puts out his hand to stop me
when I try to help them.
“Let them get themselves to safety. We can check on Rebel after. He looks to be breathing.” ”

f**k! This is turning to s**t. Who are these other men?” “Maybe more cartel or more hired men. I will let my men know they can come,” Alvaro says and takes out his phone to call his
men.
I hear motorbikes start up and rev as they all leave. All that remains is Martha and those extra men she hired. They look like f*****g mercenaries. A black van pulls up, and three men rush into the house with what looks like a person, with their face covered by a black sack and tied
- up.
“Who the f**k is that?” I asked Alvaro. “I couldn’t get a clear look, but my men are 2
minutes away,” he answers.
I check the footage and my blood runs cold. I nearly dropped the phone, but Alvaro was there to steady me. He looks at the screen, and then he looks at me with wide eyes. “Just stay calm, my men are pulling up now,” Alvaro says, holding onto my shoulders.
The minute Alvaro’s men arrive, the standoff begins. I need to get into that house. They have Toby. How the f**k did they get him? I can’t let him get hurt. He is too innocent to get trapped in this bullshit. We take out all the men around the property. I don’t normally get my hands
dirty like this, but they took the wrong prisoner.
Alvaro’s men are good and they work fast. Soon we have the whole place surrounded, and the snipers are ready. “I am going in, I don’t care about the consequences. I need to get to Toby,” I tell Alvaro and he nods. “I am going with you,” he answers and shows his men to come closer.
Martha and her men seem to have barricaded themselves inside.
I check the footage again, and I can see where they all are. If we are lucky, none of us will get hurt. I just need to get Toby to safety. That’s my main focus now. Martha is currently holding a gun to his head, and seems to be talking to the camera outside the panic room.
f**k, I hope Zander stays put. I can’t have him and Liz out in the open too. Then, to my horror, Zander stepped out of the closet with his hands in the air. I change the footage to the camera
inside the closet and see that the door is closed again, and I can’t see Liz.
Thank God she is safe, but why the f**k did Zander listen? He is the one Martha wants.
Nats
#Vote# At least Brady warned Zander. Maybe he is choosing the right side after all. Why did Martha have to take Toby?
