The sight of Scarlett’s shimmering, perfect tears triggered something raw and ancient inside
- me.
For years, I had endured her manipulations, witnessed how she used her fragility as a weapon.
She masked her cruelty behind that delicate persona, but this was the final straw.
Upsetting Eleanor, knowing how fragile her wolf was? Deliberately pushing her to the brink
with poisonous lies? This wasn’t something I could forgive.
My hand moved instinctively, clamping over Scarlett’s mouth before she could utter a single

I didn’t give Scarlett a moment to react before my second strike connected.
Her muffled whimper underneath my hand made my wolf snarl possessively. Her tears now
streaming freely only fed into the fire that burned in my chest.
“For weakening her wolf, for deliberately tormenting her fragile health,” I added sharply, leaning
closer. “You’ve crossed your final line, Scarlett.”
Victoria’s voice rang from the doorway, panicked and desperate as she rushed toward us.
“Celeste! Stop this at once!”
Her hands grabbed at my wrist, trying futilely to tug me away from Scarlett. But she lacked strength, her attempts feeling feeble against the storm raging inside me.

I turned my head sharply, glaring at her with violet eyes that glowed in defiance.
“Sister?” I spat, the word dripping with venom. “The same sister who has poisoned Eleanor’s mind for her own gain? You call her my sister?”
Victoria flinched at my words, her wolf whining pitifully as her grip on me weakened just slightly.
Scarlett squirmed under my hold, her muffled cries spilling through my palm. Though she was still trying to play the victim, I caught the flash of resentment in her emerald eyes.
She wasn’t scared of the pain. She was angry that for once, someone was standing against
her.
I pulled Scarlett closer, her whimper turning into a soft, muffled plea.
“And this,” I hissed, my grip tightening in her hair as my wolf rose to the surface, “is for
Eleanor’s tears. The ones you caused.”
The next strike wasn’t gentle. My fist collided with her jaw hard enough to send a fresh wave of panic through her wolf.
“Celeste, stop! You’re hurting her!” Victoria screamed again, this time more desperate, as she clawed at my arm to no avail.

Victoria’s cries grew more frantic.

She stumbled forward, hands trembling as she tried again to pry me off Scarlett. To her credit,
she was running purely on desperation, though the weight of her maternal wolf aura had long
