Chapter 58: Their Trial
Zander
Giselle lunges for her, but Liz sidesteps and Giselle loses her footing in her heels, and falls flat
on her face. Agent Perez immediately takes hold of her, as she screams. “Nice job, you are
getting good at this. We can definitely move on to offensive moves,” I say, pulling Liz into my
arms.
“I do think I am ready,” she says, and I smile and kiss her. Giselle is still screaming, while the
agent that came with Perez cuffs her and takes her away. “We will have to take her in for questioning. Leroy can hold onto her while you show me the rooftop,” Perez says, and I nod.
Leroy takes Giselle out of my office, kicking and screaming that she will kill Liz. What is wrong
with all these crazy women? I honestly can’t deal with it. I have never had so many problems
with women before. A simple no, kept them away. But since I found Liz again, everyone seems
to be acting up.
I took agent Perez up to the rooftop, and he was very happy with the venue and so was Liz. He didn’t stay long, because he wanted to take Giselle in for questioning. For her sake, I hope–she complies. I would’ve never guessed she could be so vicious.
“Toby agreed to show Vance the rooftop. He had another appointment, so he couldn’t stay longer. He is coming by to check it out tomorrow, and we have Tiff and Kyle’s trial, so we can’t show him around. I really like it up here, the view is beautiful. I am sure it’s even better at night,” Liz says, looking around.
“It is beautiful at night. I know we are doing this to lure Keira out, but it’s still our engagement party. I want it to be a celebration of our love. Can we please pretend that it will be just for us?

I ask her and she smiles. “That is exactly how I see it. It’s our special day. Tricking baby bear
is just a bonus,” Liz says, chuckling.
She really has a name for everyone. “And that’s why I love you,” I say and she smirks. “Is me agreeing with you the only reason you love me?” she asks. “No, the list is endless. I could list all the reasons why I love you, or I could just show you,” I say, pulling her into my arms and kissing her neck.
“Nope, not here. I don’t want to give the neighbors a show,” she says and I chuckle. “Come on,
”
let’s have lunch. Do you want to eat up here?” I ask her and she nods. “Please, it’s a lovely day,
she says, and I nod. I took out my phone and called Toby to have lunch sent up to the
rooftop.

Chapter 58: Their Trial
We enjoyed our lunch and headed home a few hours later. I am all caught up with my open cases, so I have enough time to go with Liz to court. I am very interested in seeing how the trial will end, even though I don’t really want to be there. I am sure there are many things that
we don’t know about them.
The next morning, we head to court after breakfast. Chris and Ricardo accompanied us,
because there was no way they would miss this. Seeing Kyle in that state really shocked me.
They did quite a number on him. I know Liz was affected by it too. How could she not be?
Tiffany looked her usual bitchy self. By her demeanor, I can tell that she felt nothing for Kyle
and no remorse. By the time the charges were read, and the opening statements were done, I
was ready to leave, but I knew Liz needed this. I want to follow the trial, but seeing them the
whole time was pissing me off.
When Tiffany was called up for questioning, Kyle’s legal aid attorney backed her into a corner.
He is quite good, I will have to look into him. He seems street–smart and wise. He tricked
Tiffany into spilling the truth about her relationship with Kyle. Kyle looked murderous. He now
knows the truth about Tiffany, and it was hilarious to watch.
I am sure he feels like the biggest fool on earth. It turns out that she doesn’t even like him one
bit. In fact, she hates him. She just wanted to ruin Liz’s life and Kyle was so gullible to believe
her lies. She was brutally honest, down to faking orgasms and drugging him the first night
they had s*x.
Halfway through her testimony, Kyle had to be removed because he tried to attack her. The attorneys met with the judge in his chambers, and’it was decided that they would be
separated, but they would still have to be present on some days for questioning. It just means
this trial will drag on a little longer.
We actually left right after Tiffany’s questioning. Liz said she heard enough. We will obviously follow the trial, but I am glad we don’t have to be there all the time. “I can’t believe she went through all this just to get my inheritance. The fact that she thinks she is entitled to it already pisses me off.
My grandparents may have left me everything they had, but it wasn’t much. Most of the money in the trust was from my parents‘ life insurance and savings. She is Elaine’s daughter through and through.” Liz’s voice broke through the silence, as we drove home.
“I agree. I am just as shocked by her reasoning. But it was fun to see her spill the truth to Kyle. His face was priceless. That alone; is all the payback you need.” I say, and she chuckles,” Right? I thought I wanted to see this through to the end, but listening to her madness is too

much for me. We can go back when it’s sentencing time. I do wish I could have taken a picture of Kyle’s face. It felt so good to see the regret and shock on his face when he looked at me.
Too little, too late,” she says and I nod.
“What one foolish man discarded turned out to be another man’s treasure. I am glad he fell for Tiffany’s con. It led you straight into my waiting arms. I should personally thank her,” I say and she smiles. “I am glad too. Not for the horrible parts, but that I ended up right where I should always have been,” Liz says, resting her head on my shoulder.
I put my arm around her and held her. She is all mine, now and always.
Liz
It’s Friday, and the day of our engagement party. I am. nervous, but very excited. Zander and I have fallen into a pattern of getting up, working out, and then going to the office. I help him where I can, when I am not helping Vance with the party. They still haven’t caught Martha, so I hope tonight is a success. Kyle gave his testimony and was questioned. Their trial is set to conclude Tuesday. We will definitely show up for that. I won’t miss it.
Elaine’s trial starts in two weeks. I am not looking forward to it, but I need to know the truth straight from the horse’s mouth. She asked to see me again, but I refused. She even asked to see Zander. Agent Perez said she was very upset that he refused to see her. Both mother and daughter are really delusional.
I would love to know where they got their sense of entitlement from. My grandparents were
very humble and sweet. Family doesn’t just mean the people you are biologically related to, it’s the people that you choose to surround yourself with. And I don’t want them anywhere near
- me.
“Why are you frowning? You’re interfering with my work.” Vance inquired while doing my make–up. “Sorry Vance,” I giggled, and he just shook his head. He is like a drill–sergeant–diva today. He wants everything to be perfect. Zander has some powerful contacts and he can use
the publicity.
I will definitely hire him for everything we do. He is an excellent stylist and event planner. He can literally arrange your whole event, from your outfit and make–up, to the decor and food. And everything is done in so much detail, I don’t know where he finds the time.
I would really like to invest in his business. I know he could use the funds to expand. I will
pitch him my idea after everything dies down. Hopefully, we can get him some clients tonight
a
too. “What are you thinking about? Your mind is supposed to be clear. Stop biting your lip and
scrunching your nose,” Vance complains, making me chuckle.

“I was thinking about you actually,” I said, and that earned me a look with one eyebrow raised. “As flattered as I am, darling, I don’t do fish. You know I am a sausage kind of gal,” he says.
Robyn and I burst out laughing. I was not expecting that response, but I loved it.
“What’s so funny? All of us here love sausage, don’t we?” Vance smirks. “Very much, I don’t do
fish either. I like my sausage long and th…” Robyn starts saying, but I cut her off. “Stop it, you
two are terrible. Come finish my face, we are running out of time,” I say, and Vance chuckles
and comes to finish my makeup.
When I am completely done, I am allowed to see how I look. Vance picked out a royal blue
evening gown with intricate silver beading over the left waist of the dress. It has a very deep
v–cut and is skin–tight until my waist, and then it becomes more flowy, with thigh–high slits. He
said it would accentuate my eyes and hair, and he was right.
He ended the look with my Christmas diamonds, Zander bought me, and a silver strappy
stiletto to match the beading. “You look hot bestie. Sophisticated, with a dash of allure and sexy. You are definitely getting lucky tonight,” Robyn says. “Maybe more than once,” Vance
adds. “Please, I get lucky every night. If I am lucky he will let me sleep for a bit,” I say,
chuckling.
“Get it girl. I knew that man was a beast. Tell. Me. More!” Vance whisper–yells, in a dramatic
fashion. “Will you tell me how many inches Mark has and how many times you go at it?” I asked. “That sausage is all mine. But if you really must know, I will tell you. That’s what besties do.” He answers and I chuckle. “All you need to know is that he is very skilled and all
mine,” I say, and they both laugh.
“I will get some good stories out of you. I have my ways.” he says with a dramatic wink, and I just shake my head and walk out of our room. When I reached the stairs, I looked down and saw Zander waiting for me. He looks so hot in his tuxedo.
He looks up at me and smiles that sexy smile I love. He doesn’t wait for me to come down. He runs up the stairs to meet me and pulls me into his arms. “You look absolutely stunning,” he says, and I smile. “You look dashing yourself,” I say as he offers me his arm.
Right, let’s get to this engagement party and hopefully catch us a grumpy momma bear and
her cub.
