Chapter 22: Cashing In The Winning Ticket
Zander
I drive us to the bank first and then the lottery office. “Why are we at the bank?” she asks me.
I bank here and it’s a good place to put your money. You need a new account, don’t you? New
life, new bank account.” I say, “I didn’t even think of that, what would I do without you?” she
says. “You never have to find out.” I say and kiss her cheek and she giggles.
We go
inside and are quickly helped. I called my private banker ahead of time, and he had everything ready and waiting. Less than ten minutes later, we were on our way. “Thank you for
this Zander. I know you are the reason it went so smoothly. I am glad they allowed me to open
the account in my maiden name.” She says and I smile.
“It’s my pleasure. Now let’s go make you rich.” I say and she nods and chuckles. When we get
to the lottery office, I go inside with her. I need to make sure they don’t treat her badly or try to
con her. I was pleasantly surprised that everyone was very friendly and excited for her. Okay, maybe the one woman was a b***h, but Liz handled her nicely. Jealousy and envy bring out
the worse in people.
I helped her read through all the paperwork before she signed. I was right, they have to release. her name, and she also needs to do an interview and a photo shoot. She agreed, but wanted everything to be done in her maiden name. They agreed, and I was very happy about that. I hardly had to step in. For someone that hasn’t practiced law yet, she knows her stuff.
By the time we left, she was officially a billionaire, at least on paper. She has to go back.
tomorrow for the interview and photo shoot, so I will most definitely be going with her. They treated her really well, like she was the star of their show. There will be a few follow–up
interviews later on, but I will be there with her every step of the way.
I drove to the park for lunch at the diner she likes. Halfway through our meal, Toby called me
about a difficult client. Now I have to cut our celebration short. He also gave me some excellent news, and he already sent the information to the correct place. Liz was very understanding, and I can see that nothing will spoil her good mood today.
After I dropped her off at home, I drove back to the office. When I pulled up to the parking lot, I noticed Kyle’s car. I checked my phone for the pics I took and checked the license plate to be sure, and it was definitely his car. I got out of my car and walked over to the elevator. I will get security to escort him off the premises. I am not in the mood for his s**t today.
I look back when I hear the car door open and I see Tiffany get out of the driver’s side. What

does this crazy b***h want now? She looks at me and smiles, and I frown. “Mr. Caine, can I
have a few minutes of your time?” she says as she rushes over to me. When she stops in front of me, she fixes her dress and makes sure I can see her breasts. Urgh, this woman really
grates my nerves.
“I am on my way to see a client, I don’t have time. Call my office and make an appointment.” I say, though I will make sure that I don’t have an opening to see her. “It’s rather personal, I am sure you can make the time. I desperately need to see you.” she says, trying, but failing to look seductive, and places her hand on my arm. What the f**k is she up to?
I immediately remove her hand and shiver, but not in a good way. “I am sorry, Ms. James, I don’t know you, nor do I wish to know you. There is no reason for us to discuss anything personal. I also would never take you on as a client if that is what you are after. It’s a conflict of interest and I really don’t like you. I think you are a nasty piece of work and I want no part of
whatever this is you are trying.
Please leave my property. You are trespassing. And please don’t ever come here again, or near
my house. I don’t know how you found out where I live, but if I see you on my street again, I will
report you.” I said, and saw her demeanor immediately changed.
“Whatever Liz said about me is all lies. She is a pathological liar, that’s how she stole my
inheritance from me. She abused me all my life, and now she wants to send me to jail for something I didn’t do. Don’t believe a word she says, she is just after your money. You deserve
a good woman like me, not a w***e like her,” she says.
“Ah, I get it now.” I say and chuckle. She is probably looking for a new mark now that Kyle is on
probation at work. His salary dropped and he was demoted. I also did some more digging and
finally have proof of his embezzling. That was the good news Toby had for me. Come
tomorrow, that fucker won’t have a job, and he will probably be facing jail time. Maybe he and
Tiffany could be prison pen pals.
“You are wasting your time, Ms. James. I know exactly who and what you are. I did my
research and nothing you say will help your case. I am not interested in you, nor will I ever be.
Not even if you were the last woman on earth. I would much rather die alone. I am not as easy
to manipulate as Kyle is.
Now, I will ask you again, please leave and don’t come back here, or anywhere else I am.” I
said and got into the lift. Before the doors close, I see her stomp her foot like a toddler
throwing a tantrum. I have to chuckle, because it’s comical to see.
I am sure it works on Kyle, but I was right, she is still a child. I would give anything to see her

reaction when she hears about Kyle’s troubles at work. I am sure it will be entertaining.
Liz
I am officially the recipient of 10.9 billion, tax–free dollars. I don’t have to pay taxes on it, because it has already been taxed. The amount they advertised is after the tax is deducted.
Could I be any luckier? Thank God for Mary. I really need to find her.
It’s only right that she gets a share of the winnings. Maybe I can put an ad out, or appeal for her to step forward when I do my interview. On second thought, that may not be such a good
idea either. I may just be attacked by people pretending to be Mary just to get money. I will
have to speak to Zander about that.
Tomorrow, I have an interview I have to attend and pose for some pictures with a fake cheque.
The money will be transferred to me in two days‘ time. Everyone was so nice, and they gladly
agreed for me to use my maiden name. There is no way I want to use Kyle’s last name
anymore.
I am kind of excited about tomorrow, even though I was reluctant at first. I plan on enjoying all
the perks that come with winning the lottery. I was really given the VIP treatment today and
tomorrow a stylist will be working with me to get me ready. So, I have to be there early for a
mini spa treatment, with my hand cast and all.
Zander dropped me at home after lunch at my favorite diner. He has to go into the office for a
bit. Home… I love the sound of that. I find myself referring to his house as home more often
lately. I can’t deny that it feels like home, Zander feels like home.
I run myself a bath so I can relax. With all the madness, I forgot to call Robyn to give her my
good news. I dial her number while I relax in the tub. “Hey bestie, are you still enjoying being
shacked up with the hottest billionaire in town?” Robyn asks me and I chuckle.
“You should ask him that same question.” I say. “What do you mean?” She asks. “I just got
back from claiming my lottery winnings.” I say. “Ahh, I am so happy for you, bestie.” She yells
and I chuckle. “So does that mean the divorce is finalized too?” she asks. “Yes, I am officially
free of that asshole, Kyle.” I say.
“It’s about damn time. I am happy for you. You always deserved so much better than Kyle,” she
says. We chatted a bit longer and made plans to see each other this weekend. When I hung
up, I got out of the tub and got dressed. I went downstairs to see what I could make for dinner. “Hey Rosa, I was just coming to make dinner, but you beat me to it. What is that? It’s making.
my mouth water,” I say, and she chuckles.
“Paella, prepared like my grandmother used to. With rabbit and vegetables, it’s one of Zander’s

favorites. I always made it for him when he was little.” She says. “I can’t wait to taste it. It smells absolutely divine. Is there anything I can do to help?” I asked and she smiled.
“Not with that cast, young lady. Just sit and keep me company.” She says and I nod and

chuckle. We chat while she works and I really love her. I have loved spending time with her these last few weeks. She is so funny and sassy. She has been with Zander’s family since
before he was born.
She loves him like her own. He has been trying to get her to stop working for him for years. He wants her to retire so that he can care for her financially. But she doesn’t want to, and I think I get it. Working keeps her busy and young. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she wasn’t looking after him.
“Maybe you should train someone to help you. This house is very big. I will definitely help. while I am here, but you will need some help when I leave. That way, you can still cook for him and someone else can help with the cleaning.” I said, and she smiled.
“He has been saying the same thing for years. Maybe I should start getting help. I am not as fast as I used to be. My back and knees don’t allow it. I will happily retire when he settles down with someone like you. Are you sure you have to leave?” she asks me.
“I am actually not sure, we haven’t discussed it yet,” I said. I don’t even know if he wants me to stay here after I get my money. I know we both love each other and want to be together, but living together early in a relationship is tricky.
I really need to speak to him. Maybe we can discuss it over dinner. We wasted so much time in the past and I dont want to make that mistake again.
Nats
