Chapter 20: Such A Good Day
After Liz and Zander left his office

Zander helps me into the car and the driver puts the wheelchair in the back. “I am in the mood
for authentic Italian cuisine. Are you with me?” Zander asks and I nod. “Of course, you know I
love Italian,” I say, and he winks at me.
The driver took us to Zander’s favorite Italian restaurant. We enjoyed our meal with some
champagne to celebrate my freedom. Well, non–alcoholic for me, but it’s better that way, I plan

on being completely sober for every moment I spend with this wonderful man. I am sure he knows by now what a light weight I am when it comes to alcohol.
“You never did tell me what state Frankie is in.” I told Zander when we were driving home.”
Who is Frankie?” Zander asks me with a quizzical look. “My Land Rover, his name is Frankie. I
named him after my grandpa Frank. He is just as reliable as my grandpa was. I always felt
safe while driving, like I felt safe with my grandpa.” I say.
“I am sorry Liz. Frankie is on life support. I don’t think he will make it.” He says and I giggle.”

Don’t pull the plug just yet. We have history and I would like to say goodbye and give him a proper send off. He would expect nothing less. I am thinking Irish wake. We can do it pub–style,” I say, and Zander chuckles.
“You really are something else. That’s why I love you.” He says, and I look at him with wide eyes. Did he just say he loves me? I did hear him right, didn’t I? “Don’t look so shocked, Liz. You already know I love you. I may have not said the words in the correct context before, but i
have made my feelings known.” He says, correctly judging my expression.
“Zander…” I started saying, but he cut me off. “It’s okay Liz, you don’t have to say anything. I love you, you don’t need to say it back if you aren’t ready,” he says, and I smile. “Say it again,” I say and he chuckles. “I love you Liz,” he says and kisses me.
I lose myself in the kiss and when he pulls away, I look into his eyes and smile. “I love you Zander.” I whisper, and he smiles and cups my face and kisses me softly. “I really wish we could do more right now, but I am a patient man. And you, my Liz, are worth the wait.” Zander
says when he lets me go.
“So, what will happen now that we have signed?” I asked. “Your agreement has already been
taken to court. I called in a favor, and they will speed up the process. By next Tuesday, it

should all be complete. Then all that remains, is for them to split up the assets and transfer the money. That may take a little bit longer,” Zander says.
“Wow, thank you for helping to speed it up. I do have a request though,” I say and he nods.” Anything,” he says. “I don’t want any of Kyle’s money. I just want him out of my house and out of my life for good. Can I give the court the name of a charity to send the money to?” I ask and Zander smiles. “They can, but wouldn’t you rather do it yourself?” he asks me.
“Okay, I will do some research. I am thinking of the Sunflower Fund. I love the work they do with kids.” I say. “I donate to them every year. I have a list of charities in my office at home you
can go through.” Zander says and I smile. “I will have a look, thanks Zander.” I say, and see
that we are already pulling into the driveway.
He helps me out of the car and I get in the wheelchair like a good girl. I am too tired to argue
with him about this wheelchair right now. “What do you want to do now?” he asks me. “I am
actually a little tired. Do you mind if I take a nap before dinner?” I asked, and he nodded. He picks me up and carries me up the stairs. He walks past my room and takes me to his room,
and I frown at him.
“I just want to hold you,” he says, and I smile. He puts me down gently on the bed and helps me take off my shoes and jacket off. I move over and give him space to lie down. I rest my
head on his chest, and listen to his heartbeat. I fell asleep very quickly, because I was
exhausted. The pills I am taking also make me a little groggy.
When I open my eyes again, Zander isn’t with me. I do, however, hear a very familiar voice that
makes me smile. I slowly lift myself up so I can sit up right. The door opens and Zander peeks.

wiggling her eyebrows and I giggle.
“I will give you ladies some time to catch up. I will get you something to eat.” Zander says. ” Thank you, Zander.” I say as he walks out. “I want to hear everything. Spill,” Robyn says and I chuckle. “Zander already told me what happened at the mediation. I can’t believe those two
are so crazy.
I mean, I knew Kyle was an asshole, but I didn’t know he was delusional too. I hope he gets.

“Come on Liz, I want to know what’s happening between you and Zander. Don’t keep me waiting,” she says. “I don’t kiss and tell,” I say and she pouts. “Please bestie, my love life sucks ass and I need to live vicariously through you. I haven’t gotten laid in more than eight months, and my last relationship ended with me having to get a restraining order.” She says and I
chuckle.
“Fine, but I also haven’t gotten laid in months, my friend. But as soon as I am healed, I am
jumping that man.” I say, and we both chuckle. “He can’t wait, Zander says, walking in with a
tray of drinks and snacks. Robyn bursts out laughing again, while I just wink at Zander.
He puts the tray down and kisses me softly. “I will be in my office.” He says and I smile and
nod. “You two are so cute!” Robyn squeals and then she frowns. “I am kind of jealous.” she
says. Zander just shakes his head and leaves the room. I tell Robyn everything that she
missed out on, while we enjoy our snacks.
I even told her about my embarrassing failed attempt at giving Zander a blowjob. She wouldn’t
stop laughing, and I had to join her. Looking back now, that was kind of funny. God, I missed
this woman, and I am glad she is back. I can’t believe she quit her job just to see me.
Now we are both unemployed, and I am only cashing in my lottery winnings once the divorce is completely finalized. I just hope she has enough money saved to sustain herself until then. She can always move into my house to save on rental. She can actually have the house if she wants it. She may need to do a proper cleansing and exorcism first.
When it was dinnertime, we were still chatting away. Zander came to get us, and he carried me downstairs to the dining room. Rosa made a pot pie with roasted asparagus and butternut, on the side. I love home cooking and my gran always used to make pot pies. I still have to try to make one. I will ask Rosa for pointers.
“Are you staying here tonight?” Zander asks Robyn. “Thank you, but I should get home. I have a lot of unpacking to do. I also need to start looking for a more affordable place.” She says as

she takes the last bite of her dessert. “Dinner was really amazing, thank you Zander. Last time I had a home cooked meal was at Liz’s place,” she says.
“You are welcome to stay here until you get back on your feet. I have more than enough room. You can stay in the pool house if you want. That way you
are on your own, and we won’t bother you, unless you want us to.” Zander says. “No, that’s too much. I will be fine, don’t worry. I always bounce back.” She says.
“You can stay at my place. Those two will be out soon, then the place is all yours. All we need to do is hire a priest and a cleaning service.” I said, and they both chuckled. “That isn’t a bad idea, I can stay there until you sell it. It’s a win–win. Besides, if I stay here, I will just be the third–wheel,” Robyn says.
“Actually, I am thinking of keeping it. I would never stay there again, but you can. I will sign the deed over to you as soon as everything is finalized.” I say and her eyes widen. “Are you sure?” Robyn asks me. “Yes, I am sure. You have always been my lifeline, Robyn. I couldn’t do much for you before, but soon I will be able to. For now, please accept the house.” I said and she
smiled.
“Thank you, Liz. You really don’t owe me anything. I think we are more than even. You have been there for me through all my manic episodes and my crazy schemes,” She says, and we both chuckle. Yip, she does like to get herself in sticky situations. We chat some more before she leaves.
“Today was such a good day. My bestie is back, and I have finally signed my divorce papers. Things are looking up, Mr. Caine.” I say, and he chuckles and then kisses me.
