Chapter 0194
“I’m like you. And Sara. And Nick Reign. And Avery. Even the tiger cub too. And Jet.”
Her tone was that of acceptance.
Tiger cub?
Must be little Alex.
I nodded. “Yes. You’re like us. In your case, you’re half–blood because one of your parents is human. Your mother.”
“And my birth father is what, werewolf?”
I nodded.
She gave a brief laugh, anxiety draining the light from her eyes.
“What is this? Another lame episode of twilight saga?
You think I’m a joke, don’t you. Why, cuz I was stupid enough to marry you? Or am I dreaming right now?”
The last bit was said under her breath like she was talking to herself.
She believed me even though she couldn’t fully grasp the implication of what she had just learned.
“Those things aren’t real, Jake,” she barked, brushing past me.
Things?
“Where you going?” I called out.
“To kill something to eat, duh!” She snapped.
Forest Moon warriors were patrolling the area she was headed. I rushed to catch up.
“Not this way, c’mon.”
She wore an autumn jacket on top of her top. Yet as my hands made contact with her arm, I felt all too keenly, how soft and yielding she was.
The thrill that coursed through me at that simple touch caused my hand to shake slightly.
I let her go and stepped back quickly. But not before catching the way her eyes moved from my hand to my face, settling on my lips. Hers hung open, invitingly,

“We go this way,” I pointed in the opposite direction, breaking the moment quickly.
She followed me without a word of arguing. Soon, I was showing her how to aim. Which was torture for me.
Standing too close. Touching her hand. Soaking in her delectable scent. These things were part of the lesson. Apparently, Sara hadn’t shown her shit.
The closeness was almost unbearable. My wayward eyes couldn’t keep from looking at her neck.
Smooth. Bare. Unmark flesh.
It stared back at me, urging me to do something. To rough it up with my fangs. To tattoo my mark on that blank piece of delicious–looking flesh. A deep craving was rising inside me.
Every touch of her hands, no matter how light, intensified this feeling. My entire body felt charged and ready for…
Damn it!
I just needed to get laid. That was the problem. That lawyer. I should probably call her after this. Or maybe leave town for a few hours tonight.
“Look. Shh…” She whispered.
A raccoon walked stealthily by. It was after the mice that ran past moments ago.
I felt annoyed at how utterly oblivious the girl seemed. I was all tingly and hard from our mere proximity. But she was completely focused on the hunt?
“Your ammo is too small for that animal,” I grumbled. “Wait, can you even eat a raccoon? I doubt you can eat that, petal.”
“Shh…”
She aimed, focusing on the “prey.” The mammal was aware of our presence but didn’t mind. Maybe it was confident that Jane couldn’t catch it to save her life. Which was true.
Her aim was far from perfect, no matter how focused she seemed.
As she concentrated on the coon, I let my eyes wander over her features.
Her profile was lovely. She was on the slim side, but perfectly curvy. Adequately thick in all the right places. Her tight jean hugged her round a$s all too nicely. My palms itched staring at her.

She released the sling just then, sending the stone flying towards the raccoon.
Epic miss.
The creature moved swiftly, letting the stone fly pass. It snarled at first, then began chittering
as it raced off.
“Smug furry bastard. It’s cursing at us,” Jane hissed, aiming again.
At you, not us.
“You’re wasting ammo,” I mumbled.
And she did a lot more wasting afterwards, shooting at a possum, a deer, a few chipmunks, some rabbits. All without so much as hitting anything.
I found myself content with merely watching her determination.
The light in her eyes. The way her hips swayed when she raced off to retrieve some stones or
pebbles. It occured to me that she meant business.
She was dead set on killing something tonight. Her curiosity to see what came next was the reason. Or perhaps the urge stemmed from deep within. The dormant wolf fighting for
expression..
About an hour later, she was sweaty and had grown frustrated.
When I took the weapon from her, she didn’t argue.
“Get your knife ready,” I murmured.
She obeyed, walking silently beside me. I fought to focus on the next unfortunate edible creature that raced by.
A hare.
It came into view, hopping quickly behind a shrub when it saw us. Jane stilled as I aimed at it. One shot and the prey came down.
Jane rushed toward it, raising her new knife as she did. She was pure instinct and swift.
And breathtaking.
Kneeling before the writhing mammal, she lifted it by the ear and slit its throat. Her move was quick. The hare’s pain was fleeting as it breathed its last.
I stood still, watching my mate. Her eyes were the color of yellow topaz as she beheld the

blood flowing out of the dead hare.
Her beast was awake. Now, she awaited the full moon.
My wolf howled, calling out to its mate. My fangs lengthened so much that I couldn’t help but part my lips.
I didn’t know I was walking towards her until she lifted her head to look up at me.
