Chapter 0181
Aylin POV

At the sound of my voice, the sergeant paused his attack. The large claws of his left paws were still buried inside Kyle’s shoulder. His face and jaws were stained with blood.
Caspian arrived then as he and Rita dragged the sergeant off my date.
The sight of him struggling with the two warriors looked like something straight out of a horror movie. Two golden, fiery eyes glared at me with fangs bared.
I stared back in confusion, trying to understand what was going on. He just came out of nowhere to attack Kyle?
Why?
“Miss, do you know the half–blood? Do you have something to do with him?” Rita was asking
- me.
I couldn’t bring myself to reply. The sergeant grinned, making me want to run and hide. This was not the male I’d attacked that day at the mansion back in the city. Neither was he the calm, detached male who said he wanted nothing to do with me this just afternoon. This person was possessed.
Another warrior appeared. The Chief Warrior’s own number two. Tony or what was his name. He took hold of the sergeant and began dragging him away. I started to follow them when someone said,
“He needs a doctor.”
Kyle.
I stopped to stare at my date. Other wounds were now healing, but his throat still bled. That wound was deep.
As I glanced Avery’s way again, our eyes locked just before he was dragged out of sight.
‘You’re gonna be alright,‘ I soothed Kyle, touching his brow.
A vicious snarl made me lift my head again. It was Avery, no doubt. But he was out of sight.
Someone lifted Kyle unto large shoulders. It was Caspian.
“Miss, you need to get changed and return to the resort,” he said to me.

Sometime later, Kyle half–laid and half–sat on his bed, almost fully healed. The IV tube was attached to his hand, filling him with fluid to replenish the lost blood. The stench of his rage filled the room, making me uncomfortable.
Richard, the Chief Gamma, stalked into the room as the nurse was completing cleanup.
Thankfully, no one had notified the beta yet. If they had, he would be here. He was not even at the resort at the moment. And I’d begged Rita not to tell him yet.
“What happened?” Richard asked calmly.
I didn’t know who the question was meant for, but I expected Kyle to stay silent. He was the son of an elder. Though not trained as a warrior, his rank meant he should be stronger than a mere half–blood. It had to be embarrassing that he was nearly beaten to death by one.
But he seemed more angry than ashamed.
“He attacked me. The trash half–blood attacked me!”
Bile rose inside me as he spoke. I glanced at the needle connecting the IV to his veins and imagined pinning his lips together with it.
“Do you know him? Have you seen him before?” The Chief asked.
“What could I possibly have in common with that low–life, half piece of shit wolf,” Kyle spat.
I felt my temper rising and decided I couldn’t risk remaining here in the room. Before I said something that gave me away, I started to leave.
“Aylin,” Kyle called out. “Where’re you going? Tell the chief what happened.”
“I need to use the bathroom,” I lied. Richard regarded me with a furrowed brow.
I didn’t go into the bathroom but started to leave the suite when I felt him behind me. Once we were out in the hall, he pulled me aside and spoke in a low tone.
“You know him, Aylin. You met him that day at the mansion, so you know he’s acquainted with the Reigns. Tell me why he attacked your boyfriend.”
“How would I know? I’m not a mind reader, Chief!”
“Ok then, I’ll just call your brother. He’ll get the truth outta you.” He started to reach for his phone.
“I don’t know why he attacked Kyle, okay,” I snapped.
It was the truth. Avery made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with me. I couldn’t let

myself think that all of that was jealous fury.
Such fantasies were foolish. They were for teenage girls. I was a grown female now. No matter what Jake and my parents thought.
“I have an obligation to report this to Jake TONIGHT. He’s beta. And it involves you, his sister. Tell me what you know, so I know what to say to him.”
I couldn’t have Jake find out that I was fated to the half–wolf. It would be over soon, and I
didn’t want anyone to know.
Richard sensed my anxiety despite my mental shield. His voice grew soft and full of concern
as he said,
“Tell me what’s wrong, Aylin.”
When I just stared at him, he added, “Tell me so I can help you.”
“I felt the ah…” I hated to say it out loud.
The guy did not want me. He was still hung up on Sara. Goddess, how embarrassing!
I was a noble who always thought myself deserving of a top–rank, handsome stud. Someone
like Alpha Nick. If not him, then perhaps a male like this Chief Warrior standing before me. Or at least, other males of the same rank as me.
Like Kyle.
Instead, the Fate had bound me to a half–blood with honey brown eyes and massive
shoulders.
And a fierce spirit.
Goddess had gifted me to someone who hated me and the pack. How f*cking nice!
