Chapter 0170
Prelude:
Jane believes the rules are simple. And awesome since they apply to both of them.
Rule one. The marriage is a secret. No one can know about it.
Two. The contract goes void as soon as she gets free from her “condition.
Thirdly. Three months is the maximum time length. The agreement ends whether she’s cured
or not.
Also, in his own words,
“No s€x, love talk or all of that romantic nonsense.”
It goes without saying that this is not a real marriage. It’s a deal. He will help her. In return, she will free him from whatever chains he so believes only her could unshackle.
Jane is fine with all of these rules. Only one thing matters. Her sleeping disorder will soon be a thing of the past. With these thoughts, she signs Jake’s agreement, entering a secret contract marriage with the handsome mysterious man.
However, she soon discovers that getting cured from her nightmarish condition means uncovering the truth about who she really is. Which is great. Until she learns that her ” gorgeous stranger” married her in order to undo the divine bond between them. He seeks to free himself from her, and releasing him means ripping her own heart apart.
Unable to deal with this revelation, Jane departs from Orphic Valley. Her plan was to disappear for good. Or at least, till she was ready to face her beta and sever their bond. Little does she know that the enemy is watching her.
And that her husband and mate is determined to follow her to the ends of the earth to obtain his precious “freedom.”

PROLOGUE
Jane POV
The rich smell of the fancy cup of coffee before me caused my stomach to growl. I tried to recall the last time I ate. It was yesterday at lunch.
The man with the brilliant blue eyes watched me patiently. I tried again to remember where I

had seen him before he first spoke to me. But I had to give up because of the headache that
such a chore evoked.
I was sitting here for one purpose only: To get the help that I desperately needed. This man claimed that he had the ultimate solution to my problem.
Four minutes had passed since I sat down. It was time to complain of the silence. As I lifted my cup to taste the coffee before saying anything, he spoke finally.
The words that fell out of his mouth had me spitting the hot liquid without meaning to. The more I tried to hold it in, the more I coughed uncontrollably.
Reaching for a napkin, the strange man dabbed at his face first. Then at the table. All the while, he kept his eyes on me as he waited for me to settle down. I did soon enough
“What did you just say to me?” I asked.
“You heard me, Miss Brown. Jane,” he amended.
“Marry me. Be my wife. It’ll cure your… sickness. I guarantee it one hundred percent.”
He sounded so sure.
“You think my problem a joke?” I snapped. “You think I’m a joke, don’t you?”
I should’ve known better than getting my hopes up. Just because someone was tall, muscular and gorgeous didn’t mean they had the solution to my problem.
“If you want to sleep with me, why don’t you just come clean-”
“I don’t want to sleep with you,” he cut me off before giving a brief laugh.
Then he quickly picked up his cup of coffee. Gulping down half the cup like it was cool water, he grimaced in pain as the heat must’ve fried his tongue.
Watching with interest, I realized it was quite satisfying to be able to unnerve him like he did
to me.
“Oh you don’t want to sleep with me?” I asked before I could stop myself.
He stuck out his tongue to lick his lips, no doubt, to lessen the sting of the hot coffee.
“I mean, don’t get me wrong,” he replied. “You’re… pretty. But sleeping with you complicate things.”
will
“So you want to marry me twelve hours after you met me. But you don’t want to sleep with me because it’ll complicate things?”

I hoped the question sounded sarcastic with no hint of the disappointment that was stirring inside me.
He didn’t reply. Running a hand through his hair, he let out a deep exhale as I pressed further.
“You don’t want to complicate what things?”
“Look, I know I sound crazy,” he said. I nodded to agree.
“But this is for your own good. You have suffered this curse since you came of age. I’m offering you a chance to be free. To live free as you should.”
“So I’m supposed to believe you want to marry me for my own good. You mean to help me in exchange for just being your wife. No sex.” I arched a brow.
He tightened his lips and sighed like he had problem finding the correct words.
Lifting my purse, I shook my head, muttering to myself,
“I can’t believe I’m sitting here, entertaining this bullshit.”
As I started to rise from the chair, he said,
“Sit down, Janet.”
I obeyed like those three words were a remote control. Something deep and primal inside me reacted to his stare and the way he said my name. I shifted in my seat, blinking repeatedly.
His eyes held mine as he spoke coolly.
“I do want something in return.
“You see, Miss Brown, I am bound. Hands, feet. And heart. Getting you cured is the only way to get my freedom. In order to make you well, I have to keep you close. We have to get married!”
