Chapter 0164
“You sure you’re not saying that cuz of girls code?”
“Nope. I don’t have any lingering feelings, I assure you. My heart is bound somewhere else.”
“You mean with someone else. Did you choose him cuz he’s rich?”
“C’mon, gurl.”
Talk about transfer of aggression. Was she seriously trying to pick a fight with me?
“You’re not telling me anything, Sara. It’s infuriating. Yesterday, you looked like shit. Today, you came to work glowing. Total transformation. What the hell?”
“I got laid,” I said simply.
“Omg, spill already!”
“Shh… settle down.”
“I want details. The guy does look like a stud. But be honest. How big?”
She couldn’t contain her eagerness for the gossip.
“I’m not going to tell you how big his dick is, Jane. He’s my male, I mean man.”
I sipped through my straw. “But last night was totally amazing. I mean…” I shook my head when I couldn’t find the right word.
“So he’s more than adequate then. Good for you.” She smiled for the first time today. But it
was gone soon.
“I need to get some myself. It’s been so long.”
I was going to tell her that two months was not a long time to go without sex. Then I imagined being without it that long now that Nick and I were back together. I decided she was right. It was an eternity. I couldn’t.
“Tell me about your nightmares.”
Something was up with her. The mood swings were worse this time. Or was it her time of the
month?
When she hesitated, I asked,
“Did you get your period?”

She glowered at me. It was hard to decide if that meant yes or no, so I moved to the next question.
“Where did you wake up last night? In the kitchen or the bathroom? Basement?”
“The woods.”
I nearly choked on my drink.
“You didn’t lock the doors,” I murmured in dismay.
How could she have walked into the woods. That was dangerous. Proof that she had to fix that disorder ASAP. What could’ve triggered her sleepwalking again?
She kept her eyes on her half finished tacos as she spoke.
“Yeah, we forgot to lock the doors. My mom came to wake me up and drag me back home. Just in time before I went too far inside.
I saw two big wolves. Ginormous beasts. Wolves shouldn’t grow that big. It’s unnatural.” She seemed deep in thought.
I was holding my breath.
“Blonde. And ash. No. More like bright grey, not ash. They walked on hind legs too. Like bears.
Her tone had a mix of panic and confusion.
‘Bright grey? Nick.’
“But bears don’t have shiny eyes. Neither do wolves. So I may have been dreaming. I mean I was half–asleep and didn’t even know what I was staring at till my mom got me back home.
Maybe I’m losing my mind. They were gone before we took two steps. Not the blonde one though. He followed us home. Hid behind the tree near my bedroom window. Then, next thing I know, he’s chasing me in the forest. That part was a dream. All of it is a dream. It was dim and cold among the trees.”
“He chased you?” I asked gently.
“None of it is real. Except the part where I actually walked into the woods while asleep. In the middle of the night!”
Anxiety creased her smooth face.
She seemed to regain her calm and straightened. Annoyance returned to her expression as

her gaze shifted in a different direction.
“Why is that bitch glaring our way?” She hissed. “What, she got something to say?”
“Gurl, just ignore-”
But she was ignoring me instead, and already leaving the table to go meet the Jylee Kenner lookalike.
I had no choice but to follow her. After all, I was the reason for the audience.
