As I drew nearer, my senses registered the wrestlers. I couldn’t help but heave a deep sigh and roll my eyes at the same time.

Up ahead, near my tunnel, Oak and Avery fought fiercely with claws and teeth.
The next blow from the latter sent the guard staggering towards the nearest tree as he growled in rage.
The sergeant was the first to pick up my presence. He gave a vicious snarl my way before racing off in the opposite direction. I had the mind to go after him. But I’d promised myself that dealing with Lazarus came first.
Oak ran after him as Jake emerged from the tunnel, his massive blonde wolf ready to do some damage. I knew the guard would never catch the sergeant. Even if he did, dragging him back would be impossible if that fight was any indication.
My beta was about to join the chase when I stopped him.
‘He got as far as the fence!‘ Jake barked.
‘We’ll find out his motive later. I caught a Night Storm warrior near Sara’s. He’s been held.‘
As I spoke, I headed into the tunnel in a rush. Jake followed briskly. The news made him
uneasy too.
‘Damn it. He better just be passing by. If not, you know what it means, Nick.‘

Minutes later, I stood in front of the visitor’s door in my jogger shorts and sleeveless shirt. There was no need to knock. The older male on the other side already knew I was standing. there. I felt him approach unhurriedly.
He opened the door and stood aside for me to enter.
“I’ve been expecting you.”
I ignored the remark as I sauntered into the living room of the executive suite. His gamma acknowledged me by rising from his seat.

I’d grown irritated but had to laugh bitterly at that last bit.

He regarded me with fury in his dark eyes as I went on.
“You know why this is funny? Your daughter and I went on three dates. She broke it off. Didn’t she tell you this?”
I remember feeling so relieved when she told me off, but still. The fact that she put an end to it meant they had no right to complain.
