Chapter 0120
Dawn’s first light touched the fields as Richard and I made our way back inside.
I could feel people arriving to begin their day.
‘Good morning, Alpha,‘ the doctor greeted from afar.
‘Doctor Caitlin Foster and the nurse are waiting to look her over.‘
‘I hate to wake her,‘ I said.
‘They’ll just take her vitals and fluid. Shouldn’t wake her.‘
Sara was still asleep. She seemed well, but it was better to be sure there was no harm done by that horny drug.
A part of me wished it made her sleep in. Keep her right where she was till she forgot all
about undoing our bond.
Servants moved about the house as we re–entered. Though apart from the few assigned by
Jake, none went near the hall leading to my chamber.
“The doctors are waiting,” I said to Richard. “I’ll be out as soon as they’re through. Get Hayes or Pierre. I need to fly to Orphic immediately.”
“If it’s about the half–blood, Jake is right. The Chief could know something,” he replied.
“I need to see my pup. He must be wondering about his mother.”
He was right, though. Jeremy Colt was the second reason I needed to go out there. But I wondered how the little one and his grandpa were fairing.
“Jake talked to little Alex yesterday. His granddad must’ve told him too, so he knows Sara’s with you,” he said.
“But he’s expecting me.”
He stopped walking when we reached the top of the stairs, unwilling to go any further.
For some reason, my gaze fell to his crotch. He gave a short laugh.
“It lasts nine hours, Alpha, but I don’t plan on going beyond this point.”
“Who’s the culprit?”
“Megan! I’ve detained her,” he replied.

“What the fuck is wrong with that female! Why the hell is she so obsessed with Sara?”
“She hasn’t told us why, but Jake has a theory. Remember how she followed you and took photos to give your mother?”
Jake’s theory was a fact. Before Richard spoke again, I knew her reason for giving Sara that particular poison.
“She meant to spread pictures of her on Wolve–net. Humiliate her,” I hissed.
“Make it so that the Alpha of a renowned pack like ours never goes public with Sara James,”
Richard finished.
My hands fisted. I would’ve wrung her little neck if she had succeeded. Maybe I still would. She would pay for the attempt.
“Kinkbane powder!” Richard announced.
“The sex herb?” I asked, shocked.

“So you have heard of it? The lab guy said it’s some powerful shit. Could drive a she–wolf out of her mind. Nine hours of torture. Grows worse every minute till she gets some. And by some, I mean a lot of some.”
“Meg put that in the rose and sent it to her?”
“A little sprinkle is enough. The torture begins two or three hours after that.
You really should thank your mother and the Chief, Nick. If they hadn’t gotten to her when they did…”
He shook his head without finishing the sentence.
“Any non–human male, half or full–blooded, would be ensnared. Like a magnet. That’s not to say she wouldn’t have settled for a human if she sees one.”
Images of Sara with a faceless male flashed before me, making me dizzy.
I reminded myself that I was the lucky bastard she got delivered to. I do owe my mother a thank you.
And that Meg girl? Oh, I so owe her!
“You’re keeping her in Orphic, right?” I asked.
“Yeah. She can’t leave there yet, right?”

“Right. Text me Colt’s cell number.”
“Oh, I thought you were going to see Alex?”
“Two birds, one stone, Rich. Or three,” I replied.
I also had to talk to Sebastian. As the thought came to mind, it occured to me how much I
dreaded the confrontation.
“I’ll have them bring your ride,” Richard said and turned away.
As I approached my bedroom door, I was immensely pleased that Sara had slept through the altercation with the sergeant.
Although her senses were not like mine. She couldn’t have heard the half–blood from my bedroom.
But we were bonded now. She would’ve heard me, which was immensely comforting.
You’ve lost your chance!
As the words rang in my head, I pushed it aside. It didn’t matter what that loser thought. Sara and I were made for each other. I would make her see this before the coming full moon.
Doctor Foster and the nurse bowed when I came close.
“I don’t you want you to wake her up?”
“Don’t worry, Alpha. We’ll try to be gentle and quiet,” the doctor replied.
I re–entered my chamber with both females behind me. As they took her vitals, I stood beside the bed, watching.
When they drew blood, Sara jerked and murmured something under her breath but didn’t wake up.
“Everything looks good, Alpha,” the doctor whispered.
“But we’ll get these to the lab and send you the results ASAP. Also, she has to come in later for thorough checkup.”
I nodded.
Moments later, they finished and left as quietly as they came in.

Once they were gone, I washed up, got dressed and slipped out of the room.
After leaving instructions for the servants and guards, I left the city to get to work on dealing with the day.
The sun was shining bright in Orphic Valley when I alighted from the jet.
Dismissing the driver, I took the wheel and drove straight to Sara’s office. It was better to see her boss before dealing with Sebastian.
My son would leave the town with me today and I found myself worrying about facing his granddad.
Surely, he knew it was my turn, but things had changed now, hadn’t it?
