Chapter 0104
Nick POV
“It’s on Wolve–net,” Jake announced as soon as I met with him.
“That means some pack members already saw it. I’ve prepared a statement for that. Also, the news of Cassie’s arrest-
“But Sara won’t see it, will she? I cut him off.
Most omegas didn’t go near that part of the dark web. They preferred Twitter and F******k. No one got marginalized in that world, so who could blame them.
We were heading towards my study now, and Jake did not respond to my question until we got inside. Once the door was shut, he spoke.
“It doesn’t matter if she sees it or not, Alpha. You said she already saw Cassie.”
“Yeah, but she didn’t know we were engaged!” I replied.
“I think she knew you were engaged, Nick. Everyone knows an Alpha is hardly available. They’re always either betrothed, about to be, or about to be mated. But that’s not the most important problem right now.
As it is, Alex is no longer a secret. Among the elders, at least. You’ll have to tell them why Miss White is being punished, why Damascus is about to be stripped, etcetera…”
He kept talking, but I tuned him out. I was in no mood to have anyone tell me what to do. It was hard to think that anything was more serious than Sara getting the wrong idea.
“Nick, are you listening to me?” He asked.
My eyes were on my phone with my thumb hovering on her number.
Maybe we had moved past some things. Like not answering each other’s calls. The events of yesterday brought us closer, didn’t it? If I called her now, she would answer, wouldn’t she?
“I need to make a call,” I breathed.
“No, I need to see her. Richard and his people are handling Cassie. I’ll gather the elders when I get back from Orphic. Tonight! Need to make a brief visit down there.”
Jake looked like he would protest, but he didn’t.
“I’ll get Hayes,” he said. “And I’m coming with you!”

As soon as he was out the door, I tapped the dial button on Sara’s number.
Many images played in my head as the phone rang on without an answer. I imagined her watching it ring, wondering why I was calling barely one hour after the news of my engagement broke.
The call went to voicemail as Jake returned.
“Hayes is on his way.”
My phone rang and grabbed it, thinking it was her. But it was Cassie’s uncle, the elder. I
busied the call as we stood up to leave.
A half hour later, my beta and I were on our way back to the small town.
“You do know your mother’s right. Alex will have to come home soon. And there’s only way for Sara to come too,” he warned. “Four years already went by, Nick. Is that the plan? To bind her to you like that?”
When I first discovered that Sara was my mate, telling the world was out of the question. I was merely an heir then. My parents and the pack would never let me have her like I wanted.
And she wanted me then. She was happy with whatever I offered. I was about to argue with my beta that things were different now. I was head of the Forest Moon, and we shared a son. But I simply exhaled and stared out the window.
The elders and my mother couldn’t imprison her now. Yes, that was the unfortunate fate of every omega bound to an alpha in the history of all powerful packs. But she was my fate. Mine. Not anyone else’s.
If she’ll have me. But she won’t!
Jake realized I was not going to answer his question, so he leaned back on the chair.
All I wanted now was just to see her. To be assured that there was no misunderstanding. The last thing I needed was to lose points I hadn’t even gained yet.
****
We touched down sometime later. The little town’s peculiar autumn breeze was so comforting that I took a deep breath to suck it in.
It was nightfall. Sebastian, his daughter, and grandson should be at their little house now,
“Jake, you should head to the resort. I’ll see her briefly, and then we’ll head back.”

I
I didn’t wait for his response as I got into the waiting car.
It was almost 9:30 PM. Sara would’ve tucked Alex in my bed long before now. The child would never argue that he wasn’t sleepy yet. But he would stay awake till at least 10:30 no matter how hard his mother tried.
I knew for a fact that my son would still be awake. And he would likely announce my presence to his mother like last time.
Or not.
The car was a few blocks from the house when I sensed that Sara was not home.
A chill settled in my heart. Alex was in there with his granddad, no doubt.
I reached for my phone and called Lorenzo, the guard assigned to her.
“She’s at Joy Jazz with her boyfriend, Alpha,” he told me.
Ten minutes later, I stood by the door of the half empty Jazz bar, watching Sara.
She was in the sergeant’s arms, his head buried in the crook of her neck as they danced to
the slow music.
I felt a heat like lava building in my chest. I was moving towards the two but didn’t realize it till the half–blood lifted his face from her neck. His eyes fixed on me as I drew closer.
