Chapter 0103
“Mother, let the warriors take it from here, please.”
I grabbed her arm, but she yanked free, landing another hard blow Cassie’s jaw.
Deciding I didn’t want to be the one to pause the beating, I signalled to Mae to do what she intended.
It was a struggle. “Luna, we’ll take it from here. Please! The Alpha wills you to stop. Please.”
Cassie’s face and neck were covered with bruises. Clearly, Elise Reign did some damage. No matter how fast the girl healed, the evidence of this hot date would endure on that face for the next few days.
Lindsey approached now, looking to me for approval. I nodded to give her the go–ahead.
Cassie’s eyes widened as she realized what was coming next.
“Cassandra White, for high crimes against the pack and the first family,” Lindsey began. “In the name of Alpha Nickolas of the Forest Moon, I seize and take you into custody.”
As she read the rites, the other warrior set to work, binding Cassie’s hands and mouth and putting a bag over her head.
You will stand before the Council of Warriors and Judges. Until then, you are stripped of all of your noble rights and shall never speak again till your day of reckoning!”
Fifteen minutes later, Cassie had been dragged away through the emergency exit.
I drove my mother and I out of the restaurant. She sat in the backseat, making calls as I sped
back to the mansion.
Jake was already handling the chore of stopping the news of my engagement from coming out. He had texted back that it was on the internet already.
With the Reign’s influence, it could still be taken down. My mother was making sure of that. The problem would be getting it off Wolve–net. The internet for werewolves.
I was holding on to the fact that none of our ally packs have sent a congratulatory message. That meant they hadn’t caught wind of the news yet, right?
My mother’s voice interrupted the calm all around me.
“It’s on Wolve-net!”

Shit! Damn it!
My hands tighten on the wheel. I wanted to slam my fist on the round piece of steel, but I held
back.
Her phone sounded an SMS beep as my heart sank.
“But don’t worry, I already talked to Zeek. He’s pulling it down as we speak,” she said.
I was so mad at her but there was no need to say anything. Yet.
I could tell she was beating herself up for her poor sense of judgment.
My only thoughts now were on getting back to Orphic.
Sara was not on Wolve–social. She preferred human social media sites to that of her kind. But surely, her friend or even her dad might see the news and show it to her.
I needed to explain. I had to make her see that it’s all false. My heart hammered in my chest at the mere thought that she might’ve seen photos of me, standing arm in arm with that she-
wolf.
My mother was speaking again.
“Nick, it’s going to be alright. About the Whites, Jake and I will take care of the human side.
The pup is safe, yes? I talked to Richard. Mae is on her way to Orphic with her trusted male. They’ll make sure he stays-”
“Please, stop talking, mother,” I pleaded. “Just focus on stopping your little public
announcements from getting everywhere, please. And you didn’t have to send your gamma over there!”
“We need to make sure no rogue ever goes near that town again. Not while the child is in it!” She heaved a frustrated sigh.
“I can’t believe this! I was right there the day before yesterday.”
“Doing what, mother? Spying on us?” I asked her.
“You need to act fast, Nick!” She said, ignoring the question. “We have to bring the little one home. And to do that, you need to settle things with the omega and send her off-”
“Stop talking!” I snapped.
“Alright. But one last thing.”

As I looked in the rearview, our gazes met.
She swallowed before saying,
“Her father was second in command to your father’s Gamma. He died a few years before Zion left us. I thought they were a good family. I made a bad call. Just know that she and her uncle will pay!”
“Got it! Now please, shh!”
She obeyed this time. The rest of the ride was silent.
