Chapter 0101
Cassie was waiting anxiously. She could sense our heated conversation.
I was too furious to say anything more to her. Reaching for my phone, I started to type a text to Jake immediately.
Cassie’s little public announcement must never see the light of day. If it had, he needed to take down the news immediately.
Shit! Sara must never see that!
Jake’s reply came promptly: “On it!”
But my mother was in on this plan. How would my beta manage to stop the news from spreading?
I glanced around. The second floor of the restaurant was totally empty today. I wondered if it was the Luna’s doing or Cassie’s.
As I proceeded to a chair, my mother started to leave.
“You should stick around, mommy. Join us for dinner,” I called out mockingly.
“Now that I think about it, I’m actually glad you’re here. I’ve been meaning to tell you. Cassie and I broke up!”
The Luna’s face lost all colour. She gritted her teeth.
‘Not again, Nick! Not this time! You WILL be mated!‘
“Oh, I hope so! And soon too. But I assure you, not to her!” I pointed at the girl now sitting
across from me.
She looked at me like she had just swallowed a cockroach.
“Cassie, I take it you didn’t tell your uncle yet?”
As I spoke, Lindsey appeared by the stairs.
She nodded, signalling that she had Cassie’s phone. The commotion outside must’ve made it
easy.
Jake said we needed solid proof before taking action.
Her rogue friend was still sleeping and may never wake up. So we couldn’t depend on that confession. Richard would surely find something on that phone, which incriminated her.

“Alpha,” Cassie said. “We agreed we would talk about this. That’s why we’re here, isn’t it? To sort things out.”
“You followed me out of town that day,” I drawled.
Her brows furrowed in confusion. What a great actress this one would’ve made. I was convinced that she’s guilty. But the look on her face now could’ve shaken anyone’s conviction.
“Are we gonna pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about?”
Oh, she was so lucky to be female. I desperately wanted to hurt her physically for going after Sara and my child.
And for what? Because she wanted to be Luna so bad? That had to be it and nothing more. She went after them to raise her rank and her family’s.
“You promised you would see me once I was better,” she said. “I took advantage of that promise!”
“Not that day, Cassie. Two weeks ago, when you barged into my office. You took a fucking flight and followed me to Orphic Valley. You made Oak promised he wouldn’t tell me you were there.”
My mother had gone very still. She knew where the story was heading. If Cassie stalked me to that town, then there’s no doubt that she had seen my child.
Her gaze moved to the female. Only seconds ago, they were partners. She was ready to do anything to ensure we were mated. Now she watched the girl with pure dread. I could sense her anxiety as she waited for her response.
Cassie’s face was a mask now. She took slow, measured breaths to maintain her calm.
“Yes,” she replied. “I followed you to that town. I knew you wouldn’t like that, so I told the guard not to say anything.”
“You knew I wouldn’t like the fact that you were spying on me yet you did it anyway? Don’t answer that. But you did find what you were looking for, didn’t you?”
She blinked a few times and lowered her head. She was beginning to get very uncomfortable
with my mere presence.
“You saw the girl I told you about. The one to whom my heart and soul is bound.”
I leaned towards her, tilting my head to look her in the eye.
My mother swallowed. Had she been holding her breath till now?

“And it made you so mad that you will never be anything but a political mate to me, didn’t it?”
I went on.
“You would never be more unless… you got rid of the two! If they were out of the picture, you could convince yourself that you’d become my beloved Luna at some point.”
My mother gasped, taking a step towards us.
‘Nick, that’s enough! If she knows, we need to sort it out before she leaves here. Ask her if she told anyone yet. Command her to be silent! I’ll work on her too-‘
“Isn’t that right, Miss White?” I ignored my mother’s yammering.
“N–no, Alpha,” Cassie stammered. “I–I didn’t think such things.”
“Oh, so you didn’t think! You just went ahead and took action?” I barked.
Oh if only I could dig my claws into that face. This female was my enemy! She came after my family and deserved what was coming.
“Wait, what do you mean took action?” The Luna asked out loud.
Oddly, I felt her anxiety melting away. Fury, like a tornado, gradually rose in its place as she approached our table.
“What do you mean, Nickolas? Took what action?”
