Then, Thick neck came close and knelt with one knee in front of me. Alex snuggled closer, not from fear, but from the male’s general aura.
“Hey! Look at me, tiny wolf,” he poked the child as I struggled against the rope around my
wrists.
Alex lifted his head and glared at the male.
“It’s all in your daddy’s hands now. Any wrong move, and you’ll get shipped to a whole new place.” He grinned, and Alex recoiled.
Wide mouth reappeared just as a sound from outside got all of our attention.
“What the hell is that?” he asked, returning for the door.
Thick neck started to rise, too. What followed happened too fast that I was momentarily too
dazed to move.
Go fetch burst through the door, landing in a heap a few feet away. The human male followed, falling on top of him.
I took the commotion was our opportunity to get away.
‘Alex, baby, c’mon.‘ Oh Goddess, if only he could hear me. But as he watched my eyes, he seemed to understand my gesture and moved.
Legs and hands still bound, I hopped towards the only window I could see with Alex beside
- me.
As Go fetch scrambled to get up, Thick neck reached for Alex and I but something stopped him. I didn’t bother checking what. Or who.
‘C’mon, baby, the window,‘ I said with my eyes.
But we didn’t get far before I felt someone grab a fistful of my hair and started to pull me
back.
“Mommeee! Leave her alone!” Alex screamed.
The person obeyed immediately. I felt him release my hair before my frazzled senses caught Nick’s presence. At the same time, someone lifted Alex.
‘Alex! Noooo!‘ I screamed in panic, matching my son’s screams.
I didn’t realize my feet were being untied till I saw Richard settling Alex in his arms.

“We need them alive, alpha!”
That was Jake’s voice. “At least, one of them!”
Growls, barks, whines, whimpers, and pure cries of pain were all mixed with the commotion.
behind me.
The scent of blood filled the air. I did not dare turn around. The sound of flesh tearing and blood splurging was horror–stricken enough. I didn’t need a picture to go with it.
Nick was at work, surely, and he wasn’t Nick in this moment. His wolf was loose and on rampage. I could feel the fiery heat of his fury.
“Alex,” I gasped.
My child had stopped screaming. He watched what was happening behind me with awe and
reverence.
“No,” I breathed. A child shouldn’t see this.
Richard should be covering his eyes. Instead, he seemed to slow his strides, making sure Alex didn’t miss a bit of the action.
As the gag fell away from my mouth, I tried to scream,
“Get him out of here!”
The sound came out as a raspy plea.
Someone was untying my hands now. I didn’t bother to see who. They didn’t finish before I dashed forward after Alex and Nick’s gamma.
I didn’t think I could bear the sight behind me, so I diligently kept my eyes away. But the feel of fresh blood beneath my feet caused my stomach to roll.
A piece of someone’s detached arm suddenly landed beside me. I jumped and let out a scream from fear that it would reach out and touch me.
My stomach protested the sight, ready to hurl out its content. With one hand over my mouth, I willed the puke back.
Soon, I caught up with Richard and pulled at his arm to make him give me my child.
He did before forcing me into the dark grey SUV with the tinted windshield. As I grappled with another wave of rising vomit, I hissed,
“You’re sick!”

“You’re welcome,” he replied casually, then pushed my legs into the car and shut the door.
We started moving almost as soon as he did. I didn’t care who was driving. All that mattered was the fact that Nick’s alpha scent was pungent in here.
No rogue could touch me or my child here. We were safe now. I held Alex tighter, rocking him as we sped away.
