CHAPTER 187: Epilogue Alaia (Final)
Alaia
Three years later…
“I have the discharge order,” Nick said as he entered, holding a paper in his hands. He stopped
at the door, looking at us.
Noah and Alana gazed at Nicolas, their baby brother who had been born just hours ago, whom
I held in my arms.
“He’s so tiny,” Alana whispered, and Noah kissed his little head. I was overcome with emotion again, knowing that my children already loved their little brother. Nick took out his phone and snapped a picture of us. I smiled, remembering the day I had told him the news months ago.
We came down the stairs. Noah held the gift box with one of the five tests inside. This time, I
would be able to tell him the news the way I had wanted to the first time. Alana held a box
with a pair of little shoes. The three of us waited for several minutes until we heard his car. I
led the children to the middle of the living room. We watched him enter, close the front door,
and freeze when he saw us. He smiled at us and looked at our children.
“Is it my birthday?” he asked, trying to remember. My children looked at me, and I shook my
head.
“No!” our children shouted as he reached them. He bent down, taking the boxes my little ones
offered him.
My heart was racing. I knew he had longed to experience a new baby ever since the
pregnancy, and I felt the time was right. Our babies were older, the companies were doing well,
and it felt like a good time. Nick looked at the test and then the little shoes in silence. When
he understood the message, he looked at me. He seemed unable to believe it.

“Now there will be five of us,” I said excitedly, my eyes welling up.
“Mariposa,” he whispered, using the word he hadn’t called me in a long time. He came closer
and kissed me. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this. I want to experience what I
missed with our little ones.” He lifted them, kissing their faces, and they laughed.
“I know, my love. Stop taking care of me; it already happened,” I said, caressing his face and
those of our children.
“Thank
you. Thank
you
for making me so happy.” The four of us hugged, foreheads pressed

together, enjoying another beautiful family moment.

We left the clinic and got into the van, carefully arranging the three car seats in the back. Little Nicolas looked like his siblings when they were little: dark hair, brown eyes, just as beautiful.
The van stopped at the new house we had bought in the UK. Business hadn’t allowed me to return to Los Angeles earlier, and we had decided the baby would be born here. My parents and little Alan lived in the old house, and we had bought a new one close to them and Ash, since, like my parents, Ash and Will spent months going back and forth between the UK and Los Angeles.
I knew they were in Los Angeles and about to arrive. Our little one had arrived more than a week early, and the news had been unexpected for everyone.
The van parked, and I saw my dear Tino, along with Tony, looking impatiently at the door.
“I’ve been waiting for an eternity,” Tino said as he approached the car. He had accompanied
me yesterday until our baby was born and had been able to see him. He had also been
attentive to everything and helping Nick.
“My sweethearts,” he said. He leaned over and hugged them affectionately, and they gave him
two kisses and ran into the house.
“Where is he? Where is he?” He looked at Nick, who was holding little Nico in his arms.
“He’s precious! I could just die from the cuteness!” He took him in his arms and showed him to
Tony for a few seconds. “With so many little ones at home, I already have a master’s degree in
holding and caring for them.” He walked carefully, and Nick took my hand. We greeted Tony
and went inside.
“Welcome!” shouted my whole family and Nick’s. His father was standing, fully recovered.
Getting over the surprise, I looked around. Everyone was there: my mother; my father with little
Alan, almost three years old and, thank heavens, born healthy and strong; Ash and Will with
Francesca, a year and six months old and the apple of Will’s eye; Loli and Gavin with Joselyn,
two years old, who had her parents and grandparents wrapped around her little finger; Cedric
and Barbara with little Benjamin; even little Chelsea, Rachel’s daughter–my father’s ex–was
with us. Aidan had brought her for a weekend, and now she visited us once a week and
insisted on staying. Of course, Rachel had hated the idea at first, but after seeing that the girl
was happy and surrounded by so many children, she resigned herself and allowed her to
spend a few hours a day with us, and we all helped to take care of her. We had two nannies
when there were so many children in the house, not counting Tino, who, as he had wished, had become everyone’s favorite–and millionaire–uncle. Happiness washed over me as I looked at

them, all the people who meant something to us, gathered here. Unable to stop smiling, I listened to the sound of the children’s shouts and laughter.
“He’s just like my sweethearts. He couldn’t be any cuter,” Ash said, completely smitten, looking at Nicolas, as Tino wouldn’t let go of him. My mother, Loli, and all the others were in the same
state.
“Let me hold my nephew. It’s not fair; you saw him before me,” Ash complained.
“Honey, are you going to deprive me of seeing my grandson?” my mother asked. Nick’s mother looked anxious to hold her grandson, too. After a little argument with Tino, Ash received my baby, and the others surrounded her, smitten with my youngest son.
Everyone congratulated us, and Nick joined the men, who had only briefly seen the baby but said they would wait patiently for the women to let them have a proper look at him.
After greeting everyone, we went to the table, and my heart felt warm at the beautiful image of
everyone talking like the big family we were, despite the craziness that ensued in the house
with all the children.
Ash and Tino had opened a store in Los Angeles and now traveled back and forth all the time. The Garnetts and the Russells had been working together for years, and we had to move between countries, and the companies had grown stronger. Loli had stopped working with us
some time ago, and luckily her separation from the sweethearts had not been difficult, as we
saw her often. I knew she and Gavin were very happy. They lived in Los Angeles, and she had an agency to teach other girls how to take care of children. I didn’t think there was anyone
better than her to do it. My father had retired from business and was now living his best life
with my
mother and my little brothers, dedicating all his time to them. Nick’s parents were
very happy. Caty was still at university. We didn’t know if she would want to work in the
companies. Whatever she decided, her family would support her.
After lunch, we went out into the beautiful garden. I saw my grandfather holding Nicolas and
couldn’t help but remember Nick’s grandfather, who was still in prison and whose life had not
been easy. It was a shame he had taken the wrong path; he could have been part of a beautiful family.
“Everyone is happy,” Nick said as he sat down next to me and put his arm around my waist.
“It’s the best feeling in the world,” I said, resting my head on his shoulder.
“Has it been worth it?” he asked, and I looked at him, placing a quick kiss on his lips. “Loving
me again?”
I stared into those beautiful eyes that captivated me more every time I saw them. “Every

second has been worth it, my love.” I moved closer to kiss him, and we embraced, gazing at our children for several minutes. I sighed, thinking that our love had only grown stronger despite the events that had separated us, the distance that had not allowed us to forget each other. It had only made us realize that if love was true, it could weather the toughest storms and remain standing because every day Nick reminded me why my heart had chosen him from the first day I saw him as a teenager, although at that time I had no idea he would become the love of my life and the father of my children.
“Daddy!” Our children came running up to us and took their father’s hands. I kissed him quickly before they stole him away.
“I don’t know how you’ve only gotten pregnant once in three years. With those hunks, you should have one a year. You know there’s always room in your favorite uncle’s kindergarten,” Tino said as he came over to where I was.
“Oh my God, you say it as if getting pregnant were the easiest thing in the world. Well, it’s not, and I’ve closed up shop for the time being,” Ash said as she arrived with Loli.
“I agree. Having Josie is like having five kids at home,” Loli said, supporting Ash. “So I’m also going to wait a little longer before thinking about another baby.”
“As for me, I think three is enough,” I said, and the girls nodded, showing their support, although Tino didn’t seem too keen on the idea.
We watched the guys with each of the little ones. My father was holding Alan and Chelsea; he was very fond of her. William was wiping little Franchie’s face, Gavin was lifting Josie in the air, Nick was running with our children, and Cedric was coming back to the patio with Benjamin, while Barbara and our mothers walked towards us.
“Awww, they’re so cute,” Ash said, more than excited, and Tino and I exchanged glances. Ash wasn’t sentimental, unless…
“Why are you going to cry? You’re acting like that time when you were pregnant with Franchie,” Tino said to her, and the four of us stared at each other in silence, our eyes wide…
