Rogue Attack
ISABELLA’S POV
The sky was already dark by the time we arrived home. My mind was still boggled by the
incident earlier, but I couldn’t show my raging emotions in front of my babies. I can’t let them see how affected I was or else, they’ll immediately notice something.
After eating our dinner, I led the twins to their bedroom. Then I reminded them once again that we needed to stay home for the next three days because of the Annual Council Meeting.
I’ve already discussed this matter with them during the previous days. But the fear and anxiety gnawing at me left me agitated. Lily’s ever curious eyes never left mine. As if she was waiting
for an opportunity to speak.
“What is it, darling?” I asked, knowing that she had something in mind. But as soon as she
opened her mouth to speak, I felt my body turn stiff, hearing her question.
“Mommy, will the uncle I met stay in our pack?”
I froze. As I stared at her innocent face full of curiosity and anticipation, I could feel the ache
coming back.
“Yes, but only for a little while.” My hands were slightly trembling as I smoothed her hair. “He’ll
leave soon.”
As soon as I said that, I immediately witnessed how her face fell. Her earlier excitement was instantly replaced by disappointment. “Oh… I thought I can see him again…”
My heart clenched painfully. The disappointment in her tone was too hard not to notice and seeing the pitiful expression on her face made me feel a million times more hurt.
“Sweetheart, it’s best… not to see him again. He’s just a visitor.” I was having a hard time speaking those words, but I had no choice.
Xavier was only here for the Annual Council Meeting, nothing else. I can’t allow Lily to become attached to her encounter with him. I had to find a way to get it out of her mind.
Lily nodded her head slowly, but her little shoulder still slumped in disappointment, there was obvious sadness on her face, and it left me wondering if her encounter with Xavier had truly left an impact on her.
Did she somehow sense the connection with Xavier? After all, he was her real father, it was not impossible… Perhaps that’s why she’s acting this way, very much affected.

Seeing her like this tears me apart.
I find it hard to speak, but I had to comfort her. “Don’t think too much about that man, okay? You still have Uncle Raymond and Uncle Xander, don’t you?”
“Yeah, Lily. Uncle Raymond promised to take us out this weekend. Aren’t you excited? It would be very fun!” Liam, probably sensing his sister’s sadness, joined us on the bed. His tone was filled with enthusiasm. I smiled, knowing that he was trying to lift his sister’s spirits.
And he succeeded. Seconds later, Lily’s eyes brightened a little, a small smile tugging at her lips.
“Oh, yes! I remember! Aunt Hailey also promised to bake us some cookies too!”
Liam continued to chat with Lily, and his efforts to keep her distracted worked like a charm. I ruffled his hair before I kissed both of them in the forehead. Seeing them interact warmed my heart, and it somehow eased the tension that had been building up all day.
THE NEXT day came. It was the first day of the Annual Council Meeting. I kept a close eye on the twins, making sure they were occupied and safe. The three of us stayed home, and I tried
all my best to keep them busy and not bored.
The morning passed by in a blur, and before I knew it, evening was approaching. However, the anxiety and fear returned bugging me. There was a strange feeling in my gut, a sense that something was going to happen.
And I was not mistaken. Just moments later, Raymond reached out to me through our mind
link.
“Bella, I need you to come here at the packhouse. There’s something important I need to tell
you.”
My heart skipped a beat upon hearing the graveness and urgency on his tone. From the looks
of it, I knew that what he was going to tell me was a serious matter.
“Don’t worry. That alpha is not around. The first session of the Annual Council Meeting has
just ended, and all Alphas from other packs has already returned to the accommodation
venue. I’ll send a pack warrior to fetch you.”
Hearing his words, I knew he was talking about Xavier, but his reassurance made me feel
somewhat at ease, though not completely unbothered.
I replied back to him and agreed. Though, I felt hesitant to leave Liam and Lily alone at home, I
knew that I can’t also bring them to the packhouse, not with Xavier still around our pack.

watch around our house, I finally made my way towards the packhouse. With each steps, the
anxiety came crashing back to me, but I knew I needed to focus on the urgent matter at hand.
“What’s the matter?” I asked Raymond once I finally arrived at the packhouse.
He had a serious look on his face, but before he could explain anything, a pack warrior rushed
towards us with a frantic expression on his face.
“Beta Raymond, there are rogues spotted in the borders attacking our warriors!”
“How many are them?” Raymond frowned upon hearing the news.
“We recieved a report that there are… hundreds of them!”
My brother’s face instantly hardened. Even I, felt my heart fell after hearing that. A rogue
attack on the first day of the Annual Council Meeting… Those rogues definitely had the guts to
attack during this time…
“Call all the warriors. To the borders, immediately!” Raymond’s instructed in a hard tone before
he turned to me. “Let’s talk about it later.”
“Be careful.” I reminded him and he nodded, finally rushing out of the packhouse.
Hailey came running but she was one step late as Raymond already left the room.
“This is not looking good…” She murmured in worry, but I was even more worried at the
moment, remembering Liam and Lily alone at home.
“I need to check the twins.” I spoke in a hurry, but then Hailey held my hand, her face was
serious as she tried to convince me.
“Bella, you should bring them here. At least, just for tonight. You should spend the night here,
it’s much safer.”
knew she was right. For now, nothing matter as much as my babies‘ safety. I needed to set
aside my fear of Xavier encountering them. The threat from the current rogue attack was much more dangerous.
