ISABELLA’S POV
The moment the servant mentioned Xavier’s name, I felt like the ground had been ripped off
from beneath my feet. My heart was racing like a wild drumbeat in my chest with each thump
echoing in my ears, as panic surged through my whole system.
Xavier was here… and a day earlier than expected. Why did he have to arrive today?
“Where is he now?” My voice was slightly trembling as I asked the servant.
“Alpha Xavier is currently in the conference hall. He’s greeting the elders.” The servant hurried
off after that reply, leaving me standing there, unable to move.
I was in utter shock. My mind raced as I tried to process the situation. Why had Xavier arrived
early? The timing was not very ideal for me and my twins. We were currently at the pack
house and there was a huge possibility that we could run into him.
“Bella, calm down.” Hailey’s voice pulled me out of my panicked thoughts. “Calm down,
alright? The conference hall is still a few distances away. He won’t find you here.”
Her gentle voice didn’t ease the growing anxiety inside me. But then, a horrifying realization
suddenly struck me like a bolt of lightning.
“The twins…” My hands were shaking as I grasped Hailey’s hand. “Liam and Lily… they’re at the
playground now!”
Panic clawed at me. At that moment, I wanted to rush out to find them and take them home.
Xavier was now in this pack, and the very thought of him seeing the twins sent a chill down
my spine.
“I need to find them…”
“No, you need to stay here.” Hailey grabbed both my shoulders as she spoke to me in a firm
voice. “I’ll find Liam and Lily for you. If you go out now, you might run into Xavier.”
“But-
“No buts.” She cut me off with a hard gaze. “Just stay here. I’ll bring them back to you.”
Still in panic and hesitation, I watched her leave and hurried out of the room, finally leaving
myself alone with my complicated thoughts.
The minutes of waiting for Hailey to come back with my babies dragged on. It feels like an hour has passed already. I paced back and forth in the small room as my mind got filled with

the worst–case scenarios.
What if Hailey can’t find them in time? What if Lily and Liam run into Xavier? My stomach churned at the thought.
When the door creaked open, I instantly whipped around, hoping to see if it was already Hailey who had come back with the twins. But then, it was Alexander who stepped inside the room.
“Why did Xavier arrive earlier than expected?” I immediately questioned him, my voice laced with panic and fear.
Alexander sighed then held up his hand in a calming gesture. “His journey from the north was shorter than anticipated, so he arrived earlier. It’s as simple as that, Bella. There’s no need to
worry.”
However, his words didn’t stop me from worrying. There was still a storm raging inside me, and I felt helpless against it.
“But what if…”
“Everything will be fine,” He reassured me, but then his gaze hardened. “But didn’t I tell you not
to come here, especially during these days? The Annual Council Meeting is just around the
corner. Look at what happened now.”
“I just didn’t expect… I thought he wouldn’t arrive until tomorrow.” I lowered my voice, suddenly finding it hard to breathe with the pressing feeling on my chest.
“Look, we need to ensure your safety and the twins. Let’s get you home now.”
“Hailey’s still out looking for Liam and Lily.” I stated, my voice filled with worry and fear.
Alexander frowned. “They’re also out?”
I nodded helplessly. As if on cue, the door was pushed open once again. Then I saw Hailey finally enter with Liam by her side.
“Momm!” Liam’s voice sent a wave of relief washing over me as I ran to hug him in my arms. However, my relief was short–lived when I realized something was wrong.
Lily was not around.
“Where’s your sister?” I asked in panic.
Liam looked down, and then I noticed his little hands trembling. “I’m sorry, mom.” he refused
to meet my gaze, and it only made the worry in my heart grow.
“We were playing hide and seek, and I couldn’t find her…”

My blood ran cold as Liam’s words sinked in. Panic flared up in my chest once again, even stronger this time.
“Lily’s missing?” I turned frantic as my eyes searched for Hailey.
She also had a grave look on her face. “Since they were playing hide and seek, she’s probably hiding somewhere.”
“No…” I could barely manage to speak as I worriedly glanced at my son. “Where did you last
see your sister earlier?”
“At the playground, mom. She was still there before we started the game…”
“I’ll go find her.” Alexander suddenly spoke in a serious tone.
I stood up. I inhaled deeply, my arms were trembling from the fear and panic. “I’ll go with you.”
“No,” he quickly replied with a determined tone. “Lily should be safe. She must’ve been hiding
all this time. Almost all the pack members know her identity. You don’t need to worry too much, okay?”
Alexander gave me a reassuring look as I remained rooted on my spot, sighing in resignation.
Liam hugged my thighs as he rubbed his head on my leg.
“I’m sorry, mom. I didn’t watch over my sister carefully, and now she’s…”
I bent down my body to hug him, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead. “It’s okay, darling. It’s
not your fault…”
I could only reassure him, while my own self was being gnawed by fear relentlessly.
“She will be fine,” Hailey reassured me as she held my hand. I gave her a weak nod, glancing at the door from time to time as we waited for Alexander to come back with Lily.
But almost half an hour had already passed, and he still hadn’t come back. I was running out
of my wits with worry. It was not until a commotion on the pack grounds captured our
attention.
But then, the next words I heard made my body freeze.
“That’s Alpha Xavier from the Lunar Crescent Pack!!”
